Of course, these technologies have been around for a while and have been implemented separately but to realise their true power, it is important that both these technologies are combined and used together. 2018 will form a ground-breaking and successful path which would be full of innovation to help sort business processes and operations making the function more effectively.\n\n2) Data Augmentation - 2018 will witness the biggest technology movement, using Data Analytics, converging the two most important worlds, reality and virtual. With this convergence, it will help a host of industries including IoT, HigherEd, Security, SaaS, IT to predict what’s required and what’s not, making them ready for augmenting a customer’s experience. Data analytics will help personalise, plan, increase accuracy and speed throughout the product’s lifecycle.\n\n3) Blockchain adoption - One of the most sought-after technology, Blockchain saw an increase in adoption by financial institutions, with an aggregate value of 4X (almost above $100 billion) in 2017. It’s predicted that Blockchain will go through mainstream adoption in the coming five to 10 years and will be great to track data in automotive and healthcare, also to be used by education institutions to secure students’ data. 2018 will also see enterprises leveraging Blockchain to decentralise storage to make data more secure. Let's wait and see how this unfolds.\n\n4) Edge Computing -  It is the direct development of the Internet of Things (IoT), increasing analytical and computing power that is not traditionally used or integrated with machines. It is expected to grow in the IoT, making machines more intelligent, enabling them to compute, learn and analyse on their own.\n\n5) Mobility - Most of the traffic has migrated from computers to mobile devices and will keep growing for the next few years and is expected to increase eightfold by 2020. With e-commerce, the mobility trend has and is changing the face of online transactions, which are now carried out using mobile devices.       "body": "Deeply moved by a sweeper picking litter at a bus station, two young brothers from a small town in Rajasthan ended up with a unique solution. Diptanshu and Mukul Malviya, who were students of St. Paul Senior Secondary School in Sirohi, Rajasthan, have built a wrapper picker with great potential for sanitation workers, municipality corporations, housing colonies, schools, offices and other public and private spaces.\nWhile littering is done easily and mindlessly with the flick of a wrist, bending down and picking it up is often viewed as a tedious task. This was the realisation two young brothers had at a bus station. Diptanshu and Mukul witnessed a middle-aged sweeper cleaning up wrappers, pieces of paper, pouches, among other things. At that moment, they came up with the idea of building a wrapper picker machine to help thousands of such sanitation workers across the country.\n\nStarted as school project, the machine was soon a reality. Operated by a motor, the machine is first of its kind and simple to operate and maintain. Using two flexible roller combs attached to a rotating base, the machine picks up litter from the ground and collects them in a bin. \"The brushes are just a few millimeters above the ground level to ensure that dust and grit is not picked up. It’s ideal for picking up paper plates, napkins and cups after an outdoor lunch or dinner party,\"\n\nMukul now pursuing his engineering degree, while Diptanshu hopes to serve ISRO when he grows up. The National Innovation Foundation, acknowledging the great potential in the machine, helped the sibling duo in improving the model further with better design. Diptanshu and Mukul's innovation has not just won them the prestigious IGNITE award, they were also selected for Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Innovation Scholar in Residence programme in 2015.\n\nThey also won a national award from the National Innovation Foundation in 2017.       "body": "Kashyap Neha Pandita was five years old when she and her family were forced to flee their village in Shopian district, Kashmir, to escape the terrorists. The family lived in a refugee camp for some time before getting to live in a one room tenement in Mishriwala.\n\nNeha grew up with no access to basic amenities but that did not stop her from dreaming of clearing state civil service exam. Two decades later, she has not just cleared the exam but is also one among the toppers. Recalling her childhood struggles to The Tribune, she said,\n\nI have spent my entire childhood in camps without basic amenities. First we lived in tents and then in a squalid one-room shelter at Mishriwala. Since childhood, I nurtured a dream to pursue a career in civil services after witnessing misery of our community.\n\nAfter a master's degree in organic farming, Neha appeared for the state civil service exams in 2013 which she failed. However, she could not attend coaching classes to help her prepare, as her family was largely dependent on the ration and money provided by the government.\n\nThereafter, she started preparing on her own, except for a one month training she attended few years back. Neha had constant support and motivation from her family who stood with her all through her struggles.\n\nNeha pursued civil service relentlessly, and reaped the fruits of her hard work in December 2017 when she secured fourth rank in the exam.       "body": "Acting beyond his years, Abhik Saha is a living proof to the saying — age is nothing but a number. A full-fledged entrepreneur at 15, his actions still remain grounded while his initiative helps feed the hungry.\n\nNot treading the route of excuses or procrastination and not giving up in tough times, makes 15-year-old Abhik stand apart from his peers. Hailing from Chalsa, a nondescript small town in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, he was an average student at Don Bosco English Medium School, Oodlabari, until 2011, when he got his hands on his first computer that changed his life completely.\n\nFighting the popular belief that one can achieve something great only if one belongs to the metropolis, Abhik began his journey of developing apps and creating his own search engine, all from his room in a small town.\n\nAn early love for technology\nSon of a school teacher, Shefali Saha, and Alok Saha, a plywood trader, Abhik is a tech wizard who became interested in programming when he was just an 11-year-old kid. He ventured into the world of coding soon after his first class on the principles of web design.\n\nAbhik took an instant liking to web designing with a lesser focus on programming. “My teacher appreciated the effort I put into designing web pages but insisted I work on learning programming as well. To me, C++ and other programming languages were plain boring. But what followed is still a surprise to me.”\n\nSince his understanding of programming was very poor, Abhik had nearly given up on learning the subject. He shares that his only saving grace was his chance meeting with a software developer who explained to him the importance of programming and its possibilities and also let him try Visual Studio, a programming integrated development environment for building software.\nAfter thorough self-training, hours of research and serious hunting for new ideas, Abhik created his first 2D Game App ‘Birdingo’ on November 2, 2015. This was followed by five other apps in quick succession: two education apps, Math++ and Abcd planet; a learning app, i-Learn, which gives free video tutorials on computer programming or developing languages; a 3D gaming app, 3D Task 24; and Arnabhik Website Builder, an app that helps people easily get a free hosting website.\n\n2016 continued to be a successful year. On April 5, 2016, Abhik launched GreenCulture, an Agriculture App which notifies farmers of latest news about crops, lands and better farming techniques, providing scope for real-time chat with experts. Lastly, Reming God, a Reminder app that helps one remember plans made for the future went live on April 30, 2016.\n\nIndia’s own social search engine\nAbhik began working on creating his own programming language called Lino after the launch of his apps in April 2016. “I did not see the need to rely on multiple languages to create technology, so I took up a project to invent a unified language. As I worked on understanding the frameworks that hold up the Internet, time and again my research hit a number of roadblocks.”\n\nThe problem wasn't the lack of good quality content while browsing websites but it was the amount of spam, fake sites, malware, irrelevant content and intrusive pop up ads that slowed down his research. He was most disappointed when keyword searches led to sites, with no relevant information, ranked on the first page by search engines.\n\nAbhik realised that before he could change what the developers built for the Internet, he would have to change what users expect out of it.
