There are plenty of guides to beginners out there that have done what I was planning on doing much more thoroughly than I probably would have, like [this one](https://blockgeeks.com/guides/what-is-cryptocurrency/) or [this one](https://cointelegraph.com/bitcoin-for-beginners/what-are-cryptocurrencies#accept-as-payment-for-business) or [this one](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/0/cryptocurrency/)... [1-3].\n\nAfter this revelation, I realized that for this little experiment of mine to survive that it needs to fill a void that is already not exhaustively covered in the crypto sphere. After discussing this with people I know who have recently gotten into crypto, I discovered that perhaps a better void to fill would be to inform about the underlying culture of crypto. Many of them found it easy to find basic information about crypto, but found it hard to get into it beyond that. They got lost in the world of subreddits and slack channels, where it's easy to get lost amidst the HODLs and FUDs.\n\nFor these reasons, my next few educational posts will have to do with terminology and cultural items that may be harder for a newcomer to crypto to find too much about. Things like:\n\n<center>*What does HODL mean and where did it come from?*\n*Common subreddit terms you may not know and were too afraid to ask about*\n*What's a fork and why are there so many of them?*</center>\n\nIn addition I'll still be covering alt coins in detail and talking about current affairs and how they relate to crypto and mine and your holdings. I’ve also written extensively about crypto on other public forums (let the speculating begin). However, after becoming the target of too many phishing and hacking attempts to count, I realized (sadly) that perhaps the price of anonymity was worth paying after all.* \n\n* **I believe that I have valuable insights to share…**\n\n*Being anonymous doesn’t mean I have less to share. In fact, quite the opposite. I’ve been around the block a few times in crypto. I’ve seen my meager initial investment become a life-changing amount of money (life-changing, not market-changing. Like I said, I’m a baby whale, not a full-fledged “fuck the little guys” kind of whale). However, I promise you that my posts will be well-researched and cite references. There will be no baseless shilling of coins or crazy uninformed price predictions.
