| body | Lammas, or Lughnasagdh, is celebrated by Wiccans and Pagans every August 1st. These are the dog days of summer. The gardens are full of fresh vegetables, the fields are full of oats and grain, and the harvesting season is approaching. Take a moment to relax in the heat of the sun and reflect on the upcoming abundance of the fall months ahead. At Lammas, sometimes called Lughnasadh, it's time to begin reaping what we have sown in the gardens throughout the past few months and recognize that the bright summer days will soon come to an end. **Rituals and Ceremonies** Depending on your individual spiritual path, there are many different ways you can celebrate Lammas, but typically the focus is on either the early harvest aspect or the celebration of the Celtic god Lugh. It's the season when the first grains are ready to be harvested and threshed, when the apples and grapes are ripe for the plucking, and we're grateful for the food we have on our tables. Here is one ritual may want to think about trying. And remember, it can be adapted for either a solitary practitioner or a coven, with just a little planning ahead. Lammas is the time of year when the Goddess takes on the aspects of the Harvest Mother. The earth is fruitful and abundant, crops are bountiful, and livestock are fattening up for winter. However, the Harvest Mother knows that the cold months are coming, and so she encourages us to begin gathering up what we can. This is the season for harvesting corn and grain, so that we can bake bread to store and have seeds for next year's planting. This ritual celebrates the beginning of the harvest season and the cycle of rebirth, and can be done by a solitary practitioner or adapted for a coven setting. Decorate your altar with symbols of the season -- sickles and scythes, garden goodies like ivy and grapes and corn, poppies, dried grains, and early autumn foods like apples. If you like, light some Lammas rebirth incense. Have a candle on your altar to represent the Harvest Mother -- choose something in orange, red or yellow. These colors not only represent the blaze of the hot summer sun, but also the coming changes of autumn. You'll also need a few stalks of wheat and an un-sliced loaf of bread (homemade is best, but if you can't manage, a store-bought loaf will do). A goblet or chalice of ritual wine is optional. If your tradition requires you to cast a circle, go ahead and do so now. Light the candle, and say: "The Wheel of the Year has turned once more, and the harvest will soon be upon us. We have food on our tables, and the soil is fertile. Nature's bounty, the gift of the earth, gives us reasons to be thankful. Mother of the Harvest, with your sickle and basket, bless me with abundance of plenty." Hold the stalks of wheat before you, and think about what they symbolize: the power of the earth, the coming winter, the necessity of planning ahead. What do you need help planning right now? Are there sacrifices you should be making in the present that will be reaped in the future? Rub the stalks between your fingers so a few grains of wheat fall upon the altar. Scatter them on the ground as a gift to the earth. If you're inside, leave them on the altar for now -- you can always take them outside later. Say: "The power of the Harvest is within me. As the seed falls to the earth and is reborn each year, I too grow as the seasons change. As the grain takes root in the fertile soil, I too will find my roots and develop. As the smallest seed blooms into a mighty stalk, I too will bloom where I landed. As the wheat is harvested and saved for winter, I too will set aside that which I can use later." Tear off a piece of the bread. If you're performing this ritual in a coven, pass the loaf around the circle so that each person present can take off a small chunk of bread. As each person passes the bread, they should say: "I pass to you this gift of the first harvest." When everyone has a piece of bread, say: "Everyone eats their bread together." If you have ritual wine, pass it around the circle for people to wash the bread down. Once everyone has finished their bread, take a moment to meditate on the cycle of rebirth and how it applies to your own life - physically, emotionally, spiritually. When you are ready, if you have cast a circle, close it or dismiss the quarters at this time. Otherwise, simply end the ritual in the manner of your tradition. Lammas is a time of excitement and magic. The natural world is thriving around us, and yet the knowledge that everything will soon die looms in the background. This is a good time to work some magic around the hearth and home. To all the Wiccans and Pagans out there, have a very Blessed Lammas! Blessed Be!!! |

MY posts are informative, educational and serve a purpose for those who have the same interest has I do. So, why do I get so little upvotes, but someone else with several hundred? | body | I checked your posts. The majority of them are about Wicca, for which there is apparently no demand for on Steemit. Your problem is not the quality of your content but rather that there is nothing of value to be gained from your posts. Now, if there was a community of Wiccans on Steemit, you would likely have a great corner on the niche market but the simple fact is you obviously have no clue how to recognize a supply-and-demand relationship. There is no demand for your articles, it's simple as that. I, for example, enjoyed reading them, but why should I upvote something that I didn't really get anything out of? Give it some time, and wait for the community to grow. We just don't have enough users yet to really entertain niche articles. Better yet, get some Wiccans on the site and direct them to your profile. THAT is good content marketing. |

"body": "I checked your posts. THAT is good content marketing.",

| body | > MY posts are informative, educational and serve a purpose for those who have the same interest has I do. So, why do I get so little upvotes, but someone else with several hundred? Did you ever stop to consider maybe there aren't several hundred people who have the same interest as you do? This site is new, I doubt there are a whole lot of people who want to upvote what you have to say. > Why the fuck should I upvote if people don't upvote me? That is how I work! Deal! You say this, but you're complaining about other people feeling and acting the same way. I don't understand the point of not upvoting unless you get upvoted. I've literally given away about 100 upvotes in my three posts where I ask people for comments. I'm trying to help the community get more involved and active. This platform by its very nature is philanthropic, but saying you won't upvote anyone else unless you get upvoted is the complete opposite of that. That could be a good reason you don't get many upvotes. |

| body | Lammas, or Lughnasagdh, is celebrated by Wiccans and Pagans every August 1st. Blessed Be!!! |

| body | Arianrhod was a Welsh mythological goddess that played a role in the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi. She is a Celtic Goddess of the Moon, Stars and Sky. She was known by other names such as, Margawse or Morgause. She was the daughter of Danu and sister of Gwydion. Her uncle was Math ap Mathonwy, King of Gwynedd. Arianrhod had two sons, Dylan ail Don and Llew Llaw Gyffes. Arianrhod was beautiful, but with pale skin. She enjoyed the company of mermen. Her castle was Caer Sidi, or Annwn. This was the Otherworld, or land of the dead. Arian means “silver” and Rhod means “wheel” or “disc”. She is ruler of Caen Sidi. She is worshiped as a priestess of the moon and is honored on the Full Moon each month. Each year on December 2nd she is celebrated. Arianrhod's virginity was tested by Math who told her to step over his wand. She stepped over the wand and instantly gave birth to two sons. The first being Dylan ail Don. The second being Llew Llaw Gyffes. Gwydion took Llew and ran off. When Llew was four years old, Gwydion took Llew to Caer Arianrod when Llew's mother, Arianrhod, lived. Arianrhod curses her son three different times. The first curse was he wouldn't have a name unless she named him, the second curse was he would not have the right to bear a sword or armor and the third curse was that he would never marry a woman of this earth. Gwydion tricked Arianrhod into naming her son Llew Llaw Gyffes, which means “fair-haired one” and “skillful hand”. Gwydion then tricked Arianrhod a second time into giving her son weapons and armor. Gwydion found it hard to break the third curse, so him and Math created a woman out of oak, broom and meadowsweet and named her Blodeuwedd, which means “flower face”, and she was a beautiful woman. Arianrhod was not only humiliated, but she was thwarted as well. She went to her castle and drowned when the sea washed up to shore. Arianrhod is a figure of feminine power and energy. She is a goddess of reincarnation, fertility and childbirth. She is a part of the Triple Goddess, being the Mother aspect, along with Cerridwen (the Crone) and Blodeuwedd (the Maiden). It is said that Arianrhod can turn herself into an owl and see through the darkness of a human's soul. **Chart for Arianrhod** **Symbols** Silver Wheel The Moon The Stars **Colors** Green White Red Silver **Correspondences** Corona Borealis Fertility Cycle of birth, death and rebirth I see Arianrhod to be a spiteful person. I feel this is why she associated with death. She can reincarnate someone to make them better. I like Arianrhod, but I wouldn't want to cross her! |

| body | During my studies of the Wicca religion it was required that I needed to learn about the various kinds of gemstones and crystals. For an assignment I needed to write about my birthstone. That birthstone being the Ruby gemstone. Here is all you need to know about the Ruby. The mythology about rubies is vast and it varies. Some cultures associate it with the Zodiac sign of Capricorn (goat) and in other cultures, Taurus (bull). Most cultures consider the ruby as the birthstone for July. However, throughout the ages it has been associated with nearly every other month. Ruby's Day is Tuesday, it's season Summer, and its apostle St. Matthew. Rubies are a traditional gift for 40th wedding anniversaries. In myth and magic, at the time of the Borgias (15-16th century), rubies were thought to counteract poison- and were therefore in high demand! In the Renaissance Era, rubies were associated with charity. Rubies also brought the wearer serenity and protection against injury. Some believed that rubies could ward off misfortune and ill health, bring quarreling lovers back together and bring wealth. The healing powers of rubies remain a controversial issue, but are mentioned among healers, shamans and medicine men. It is a stone of love and thought to transform a woman's appearance with beauty. Some ancient cultures used rubies to treat digestive, blood and heart ailments. For a long time India was considered as the classical source of rubies. In the Sanskrit language ruby is called “ratnaraj”, which translates to “King of Gemstones”. Ancient Hindus believed that it was the “Lord of all Gems.” In the Middle Ages, people believed that the cosmos is reflected in rubies. The ruby is assigned with the planets Mars and Pluto. The Mogoc Valley in Upper Myanmar (Burma) was for centuries the world's main source for rubies. The region has produced some of the finest rubies ever mined. The very best color in Myanmar rubies is sometimes described as “pigeon's blood. Mong Hsu (Central Myanmar) began producing rubies in the early 1990's and became the world's main ruby mining area. Its wonderful color make fire and blood the elements most affiliated with the ruby. The ruby is a symbol of devotion, integrity and success. Usually not given as an engagement ring, a ruby engagement ring expresses passion and a promise of the heart. So, what is a ruby? A ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone. A variety of the mineral Corundum (aluminum dioxide). It gets its red color from the presence of the element, Chromium. Rubies are a-alumina (the most stable form of AI203) in which a small fraction of the aluminum3+ ions are replaced by Chromium3+ ions. Rubies can show color changes, though this happens very rarely. Its name comes from the Latin word ruber, meaning red. The ruby is considered one of the four precious stones, along with the sapphire, emerald and diamond. Some interesting known facts about rubies are: A synthetic ruby crystal was used to create the first laser. Ruby is associated with the Sun in Vedic astrology. Ruby symbolizes passionate love. Although their names bear some similarities, rubies are not related to rubidium, and they don't contain this chemical element. Both names derive from the same Latin word, ruber, meaning red, in reference to the red color of the ruby, and the red resonance line of rubidium vapor, respectfully. So, there you have. The Ruby gemstone. Beautiful. |
