      "body": "![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZ1WFoZ2YVj7KJCuAEBha9KXxP8yQpGjeCHff2C65T2gu/image.png)\n\n**On May 15, 2018, we experienced a major shift in the planetary energies as Uranus, the planet of shake-ups, surprises, innovations, and breakthroughs, enters the sign Taurus, which is typically associated with financial systems, self-esteem, and material possessions.**\n\nThis may seem a little scary, but honestly, it's nothing to fear but the unknown itself, for that is what Uranus represents - the unknown. Of course, it feels a little unsettling to have Uranus in a fixed earth sign - Taurus has some trouble adjusting to change (this Sun and Mercury in Taurus native can attest to that). Sometimes, however, change is necessary and good.\n\nTake our financial systems, for example. Some are speculating that we're going to see a massive overhaul of the world economy, like we saw in the mid-to-late 1930s. Take [FDR's New Deal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Deal) , for example, a successful overhaul of the US economy in response to the Great Depression. This included massive job creation, financial safety nets such as Social Security, and labor laws that favored employees.\n\nDoes this mean that we're headed for collective financial ruin? I certainly hope not. History never repeats itself exactly, so it wouldn't be wise to expect a carbon copy of the events of the 1930s.\n\nHere in the US, just how robust is our economy now? The statistics may seem favorable, with unemployment under 4% and lowering steadily since 2009. However, what is the quality of this employment? As of 2016, nearly half of American workers earn under $15 an hour, the figure considered to be the average living wage - despite the fact that [the living wage is actually much higher than $15/hour these days](https://www.oxfamamerica.org/press/nearly-half-of-americas-wokers-struggle-in-low-wage-jobs-with-scant-benefits/).\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmP5Rj8V7Wr2Di9FxK4oALB9L3CpZVHGdE8JVM5ABjeL3q/image.png)\n\nI live in Los Angeles, California, a city that is seen as a sparkling jewel on the West Coast. In some ways, it is just that - unless you are one of the million or so Angelenos who don't earn a living wage despite working much harder than many people who do.\n\nHousing costs are so high that many people have been displaced. Stories of working people who are living in tents are rapidly on the increase.\n\nTake a drive along many neighborhoods here, and you'll see tent cities sprouted along our rivers and under our freeways and overpasses. [From 2011 to 2017, homelessness in the city has increased by 75%](http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-homeless-how-we-got-here-20180201-story.html).\n\nSEVENTY FIVE PER CENT!\n\nIN SIX YEARS!\n\nI'll stop cyber-yelling now, but I really want to emphasize what a ridiculous statistic that is. Are we not already living in highly stressed financial times? One could easily argue that we are. Our current situation is not sustainable.\n\nMy hope is that Uranus will improve the situation, not make it worse. However, we may need some shocks in order for us to get out of our collective comfort zones so that we can take positive action. Therefore, the economy may get worse before it gets better. In the long run, it *will* get better, but possibly not right away.\n\nAnother way that Uranus in Taurus could manifest is through technological advances (Uranus) in our money system (Taurus). The last time Uranus was in Taurus, the [Charga-Plate](http://www.historyofinformation.com/expanded.php?id=2045), a predecessor to the credit card, was implemented and was very popular for the next fifteen years. This invention made it easier for companies to keep track of their customers' credit.\n\nThe most obvious thing I can think of for modern times is, of course, the controversial idea of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies could prove to be a big part of the new wave of financial innovations. Uranus in Taurus provides the ideal astrological conditions for Bitcoin and its competitors to thrive. Hopefully, last week's Venus-Mars square didn't get anyone too down. This week has a much different vibe when it comes to love, communications, and just getting things done in general.\n\nOur forecast period starts with the Full Moon in Virgo on March 1. This Moon is opposite Neptune, sesquiquadrate and parallel Uranus, and trine Saturn. Looking towards Washington DC in particular, the next two weeks will be full of the unexpected, though we're likely not to get the full story about whatever is happening there. Even today (Feb 28), we are experiencing this in the form of the sudden and unexplained resignation of White House communications director Hope Hicks. As far as the general mood of the American people this week, there's a need for change that won't be immediately forthcoming, but luckily we'll be persistent, and willing to do the hard work that it takes to accomplish our collective goals.\n\nThis is actually a fantastic week when it comes to aspects. Mercury and Venus have been riding along together through Pisces, making an exact conjunction on the 4th, and staying within orb for the next two weeks before making another conjunction. It's a good time for making deals and negotiations, as well as signing contracts. It's as if benefic Venus is bestowing her gifts of pleasantry into our communications. It's also a good time to express our love if there's someone to express it to! This doesn't have to be a relationship - you can pay your best friend a compliment this week!\n\nNote that Mercury and Venus will both cross into Aries on the 6th - people needing to think fast, and/or people who wish to assert their love for another will enjoy this time.\n\nNot only that, but these two planets will trine Jupiter on the 1st and 2nd of March - a prime couple of days for love and communications, as well as finances. These are easily the luckiest couple of days of the year - especially those of us with personal planets or points around 21-25 degrees of water and/or earth signs.\n\nThis weekend will have us enjoying not just the Mercury-Venus-Jupiter action, but also a conjunction between the Sun and Neptune, putting a highlight on all things Neptunian. I'll focus on the positive here, and say that we can have a fun, enjoyable weekend, and even those of us who have been having a more difficult time lately will find it easier than usual to put our troubles aside and simply have an enjoyable couple of days.\n\nFinally, Jupiter's energy is strong this week as the planetary giant stations retrograde on the 8th. Not to worry - this won't give us the headaches that often come with the stations of personal planets. However, if you've been working with the Jupiter-Pluto sextile, for example, and working to make improvements and advances in your life, now will be the time to review those potential improvements and advances to see if we're really headed into the right direction.\n\nIn other words - we'll be making internal, personal improvements over these next few months.\n\nThat is it for this week's The Week In Preview. Last week we had a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius - almost exactly opposite the Great American Eclipse - and a major American hot-button issue came back into light in the form of a mass school shooting that took 17 lives and not only reignited the American culture wars, but it immediately triggered a youth movement. In addition, Russiagate reached another milestone as an avalanche of indictments were filed by Robert Mueller.\n\nThis week, we remain in \"Eclipse Season\", as we will until the next New Moon, on March 17 in Pisces. Therefore, events surrounding the Eclipse will reverberate on and off for the next few weeks.\n\nDespite this, we should find this week slightly more tranquil. That is, once we survive the multiple squares that the Moon makes on the 23rd! Besides the fleeting irritations that come with the First Quarter Moon, the Gemini Moon squares Mercury, Neptune, and Venus, all in Pisces. What happens today, is that all of the dreamy Pisces energy that we've been experiencing is challenged by the factual part of our reality. In other words, this Friday we may be forced to see where we are deluding ourselves, though keep in mind that these are lunar aspects, whose influences last only a matter of hours. So, try to keep this day in perspective. At the worst, it'll amount to a handful of annoyances.\n\nThe weekend, especially Sunday, has a lot of celestial action going on. starting with a square between Venus and Mars. Yes, this is one of those battle-of-the-sexes sort of aspects, but it doesn't have to be all challenges and irritations. Squares can represent turning points, so couples trying to reignite a spark may actually be able to do so under an aspect like this.\n\nAt the same time, Mercury will be making a conjunction with Neptune, another aspect where how it works really depends on what we do with it. I personally like to use this for some creative writing, for example. The other side of the coin is, as I often mention, spin. This is where we'll need to put on the high boots to listen to politicians, and in light of events surrounding the eclipse, it really looks like people *might* be able to cut through the sh...I mean, fog...in order to get to the truth. Try to keep that in mind if the pundits and other talking heads are on your screen this weekend.\n\nOf course, with the Sun and Saturn also sextile, we might find ourselves making time to do routine tasks, which at this point is probably better than whatever the endless news loop will be about.\n\nBy the beginning of the work week, we'll notice that Mercury and Venus are starting to get very close together in the zodiac, making aspects to planets a day or so apart. In fact, the two planets meet up at the end of Pisces on March 4, and as Mercury begins his slowdown to station retrograde on the 22nd, he will be running neck and neck with Venus for the better part of March, making another conjunction on the 19th, and remaining within a three degree orb for the duration.\n\nThis is a great combination, as it adds charm to our words and softens our thoughts. We will notice this even more as the two aspect other planets together.\n\nVenus forms a sextile with Pluto on the 27th, followed by Mercury a day later. Meanwhile, Mercury squares Mars on the same day of his sextile with Pluto (the latter two being semisextile). Now, even with the presence of sweet and lovely Venus, I'm still going to designate the 27th-29th as Watch Your Words days...unless, of course, you want to try throwing subtle shade, Dynasty style. When Mercury squares Mars with Venus so close by to Mercury, communications may have a Dominique Devereaux feel to them.\n\n<iframe width=\"459\" height=\"344\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/0eCngLxz1Ok\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\n*This champagne was obviously frozen in the bottle at some point.*\n\n\nAll joking aside, we'll still need to watch it...Mercury and Venus are also sextile Pluto during February 2018's last days, and while I'd say that the sextile would lean towards healing words rather than fighting words, Mars is still involved. Plus, our words will be carrying more weight and deeper meaning than usual.\n\nAnd that is it for this installment of The Week In Preview. However, I want to leave you on a positive note: that Mercury-Venus conjunction will be harmonizing with Jupiter around the time of the March 1 Full Moon, and we'll be feeling it by the end of this forecast period. Today is challenging to say the least! \n\nThe Gemini Moon makes three squares today. First, it's a battle between intellectual thinking and abstract thinking as the Moon and Mercury square off this morning. Later on, both the separating conjunction of Neptune and Venus and the upcoming square between Venus and Mars are triggered. \n\nThis is probably not a good evening for date night, to say the least. It's better to stick to intellectual pursuits while keeping a close (but not too close) eye on a partner's needs. It also helps to know that direct effects of lunar transits are fleeting.
