      "title": "How i ended up investing in Expanse",
      "body": "As this is my first post i will give some background on myself to start things off. \n\nI have been into crypto currencies since 2013 and since then i have seen many coins, exchanges and services come and go. I have also seen projects with many impressive developments be overlooked by the latest \"Fashionable\" coin that has shills in every corner of the internet hyping up the smallest piece of news. \n\nOver that time I have been a miner, trader and joined many coin communities as they have grown from small startups to billion dollar networks. \n\nThat is enough about me and so on with my post.\n\nIn early 2016, I had been mining Ethereum since launch with a home made GPU rig. I had accumulated quite a few coins mining and investing and i was also day trading. At this point i was hooked /addicted to Ethereum.  i was telling everyone i knew to invest in it, as it had capabilities that no other coin at the time had. (smart contracts and ICO's of DApps that would run on ETH network) \n\nI continued on this path of being an Ethereum supporter until the unthinkable happened, The much anticipated SlockIt DAO that raised over $150 million was \"Hacked\" or to be clearer there was a coding error by the SlockIt Developers that let someone move 3.6 million ETH out of this DAO and into a child DAO that the \"hacker\" controlled.\n\nAs this drama played out there was many theory's as to how the crypto currency community would deal with this situation. The way i saw it was code is law and if there is a bug that lets this happen. Then that is the developers fault.  The ETH that was moved, was not hacked but it was moved to a child DAO by finding a coding error not by an attack or hack on the code. \n\nEventually the founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin decided to fork Ethereum and essentially roll back the network to before the so called \"Hack\". This caused so much drama that Ethereum classic was born from the old chain.\n\nFrom Wiki - \"Ethereum Classic appeared as a result of disagreement with the Ethereum Foundation regarding The DAO Hard Fork. It united members of the Ethereum community who rejected the hard fork on philosophical grounds.\" \n\nThis split of the Ethereum network set a dangerous precedent that has since affected the Bitcoin network, in the case of Bitcoin it is different as Satoshi (the founder) is not around to make decisions on the development of Bitcoin so other community members  have decided to create forks to add there own changes hoping that their chain may take over as the main Bitcoin network but these are pretty much altcoins trying to take the Bitcoin brand name.\n\nI was shocked that the founder of ETH decided that code was not law and that he felt the need to essentially \"bail\" out the SlockIt devs by forking Ethereum and rolling back. \n\nI was worried by the fact Vitalik and the Ethereum Foundation took the action of forking the whole network due to a coding error by SlockIt, a dapp built on the Ethereum network. So did that mean in future at any point Vitalik could perform the same thing again? Other questions went through my mind such as was he heavily invested himself in this project? \n\nThis situation made me question other factors of having a centralised point of failure in Vitalik like what if he was blackmailed into making changes like this to the network at a later date. \n\nI sold up all my Ethereum around $14 as i was worried this may happen again and as you can see today the price is $446 so i made a bad move by selling up then. (I have learned from this mistake)\n\nMy faith in crypto currencies was tested by this experience and after over 6 months out of the scene, i returned to discover ETH flying high over $300 but with 90,000,000 coins and Vitalik in charge. this put me off investing again even though this was where majority of new money was flowing into.\n\nI remembered that Expanse was forked from the Ethereum code so i started doing my own research on the Expanse network and the team involved. The first thing i noticed was there is a low coin count in circulation and that the marketcap was still very low. \n\nI had checked out the Github and was pleased to see lots of activity and developments. \n\nThe team behind it was good with experience of developing crypto tech, a rare thing to find.\n\nAs i looked into the future developments of the network, i found they had let Ethereum make all the mistakes and that the Expanse team had learnt from them. \n\nThe Expanse team had built Tokenlab, a platform for ICO's on Expanse network to securely raise funds and protect the community from potential scammers. \n\nThey also had plans for the Expanse DAO, This was the game changer in my eyes. \n\nAfter seeing the way Vitalik had dealt with the SlockIt \"Hack\" and the way the Bitcoin Community was being split by not having Satoshi around. \n\nThe Expanse DAO would stop either of these situations occurring to the Expanse network. As the DAO combines having the founder and development team around but with Expanse holders in charge of voting on important decisions for the network. This creates a real decentralised network with no one person in control of all the decisions that would effect all the coin holders.\n\nThere is also Votelock that is still in development, a new blockchain-based voting platform. It provides a facility for voting on an immutable blockchain, storing the votes forever, it would be tamper-proof, available to use all around the world.\n\nExpanse Rewards is a DApp on the Expanse blockchain that you can lock up your EXP for 6 months and gain 1% interest. Which is great for long term holders. Its sort of simulated staking but without the need to run a node 24/7. Just collect your rewards when the time period is up.\n\nAs I continued my research i found the Expanse slack channel and instantly was able to talk directly to the Expanse team, this allowed me to ask many questions as i performed my due diligence before investing. It was refreshing to be in direct contact with the team and even the developers. \n\nThe Slack channel started to receive a lot of spam / hack attempts  through direct messages. The Expanse team quickly identified Discord chat would not have this issue and to protect their community they setup a Discord channel very quickly and advised everyone to move to that to combat these hackers attacking their community. \n\nThis impressed me as many teams would not try and move everyone to a whole new platform when they had a large amount of users on their slack channel just due to direct message spam.\n\nTokenlab has only just launched and has a very smart UI and the facility to accept multiple crypto currencies for the ICO's . There are already 4 ICO's lined up that will launch very soon.  \n\nIn the end all the above lead me to invest in Expanse",
