Ledger has improved their practices after a recent vulnerability disclosure.  The main software wallets (Jaxx and Coinomi) are lagging.\n\n# Summary #\nGiven, the huge impact that exploiting vulnerabilities can have on the cryptocurrencies it is both surprisingly and worrying that the major players in the crypto ecosystem are not following recommended practices.       "title": "How to keep your smartnode up to date.",
      "body": "Now that your smartnode is up and running, it's advisable to ensure the the software is kept updated, for both optimal performance and to reduce the risk of the exploitation of security vulnerabilities.  This guide will help you keep your node purring along.\n\n# 1. Backup Your Smartnode \nBefore attempting an upgrade ensure you node is backed up.  On of the easiest way to do this is to take a cold snapshot. To perform a snapshot:\n\n* Shut down the server.\nLogin to your smartnode using your SSH client (Putty or Bitvise) on Windows or Terminal on OSX.  Use your **smartadmin** account.  Once logged in type the following\n**sudo shutdown**\n\nThis will safely shutdown your smartdown\n\n* Create a snapshot\nLogin in to your VPS dashboard and create a snapshot.  The steps vary slightly depending on your provider:\n\nDigital Ocean \nhttps://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-digitalocean-snapshots-to-automatically-backup-your-droplets\n\nVultr\nhttps://www.vultr.com/docs/how-to-restore-a-snapshot\n\n* Power On Server\nOnce the snapshot has completed, power on the smartnode server from your VPS dashboard.\n\n# 2. Perform a manual update\nLogin to your smartnode using your SSH client (Putty or Bitvise) on Windows or Terminal on OSX.
