| body | June 16, 2018. That would be the day you'd be born. And I wish I could say I haven't thought about it everyday since. That the days don't suffocate me with the thought of what could've been. Who you could've been. And I feel like I can't talk about this with anyone, because only a handful of people knew, and I feel like the subject has been worn to those I have confided in. The others, they won't understand why I am feeling the way I am. It was my choice. I was too young, I wasn't ready, I was scared. I knew I would have the support of those who loved me. I knew even though my boyfriend- your father- was scared too, he would work as hard as he could to give you the life you deserved. The life you deserved. And I dream about you sometimes. You visit me and tell me little details about yourself that I would've known in a month. Like your name. Or what your laugh sounds like. Your hair color. And I feel so silly for believing that maybe these dreams actually mean something and that it really is you visiting me. Maybe it's just my imagination? Or a wish that I could really have you? But I know that my mom and my aunt and a lot of women in my family have dreams that do mean something and do come true, dreams that are prophetic. So why not mine? I see you and I wake up longing to hold a child that isn't here. And I cry inside because June is only a month away. A month away. I used to think that the time would pass by so slowly and I'd be afraid of the comments and the stares. What would I do? But now, here I am, still thinking of you. The day growing heavier in my mind. I wish I could know you. I wish I could take it all back. I wish I was stronger. One day I will meet you. I will see you and I will tell you how much I love you, even though we haven't met. And you will tell me that it was you in my dreams and oh how excited you were for this moment. Me too. Me too... |

| body | Ten years ago the ocean started to dry up. It happened slowly at first, global warming being the main cause. Within a year the ocean had dropped 300 feet. The government kept telling us it was under control, each nations leader fighting to keep their citizens calm. All the weather channels promised rain, stories of hurricanes were being told, everyone hoping they would fill the ocean back up. People began to pray for them to occur. By the second year, entire species of fish were beginning to go extinct. Dead sea creatures were being found washed up on the shores all over the world. Once this started, every country started to rally together to figure out how to contain the fish that were still living in order to preserve the species. After 300 billion dollars and 3 more years they finally figured out a way to do that. In that time we had lost 250 more species of sea animals, and what was left was the types of fish we were unfamiliar with. The kind that hung out in the very depths of the ocean, hiding from the light. Scientists began to experiment with the fish trying to figure out which ones were safe to eat and which ones weren't. People became upset. They began boycotting the companies and holding marches to stop them. Conspiracies were forming saying scientists caused the ocean's water to reside just so they can get a better understanding of the fish that lived down below. Countless murders and bomb threats were happening all over the world at every laboratory and science clinic there was. The world was thrown into a chaos that distracted them from the still diminishing ocean. By year 6 the tops of trees started to appear from under the water. The brush was thick and as you got deeper into what was once the ocean the trees started to get more tight. There were millions of them, hundreds of feet tall. Everyone was overjoyed at this sudden forest that appeared. More and more volunteers were venturing into the forests to see what there was to find. Maybe there was secret treasures to be found. Ideas began to form of building a train to connect all the countries together to make it easier and safer for travel. The fighting shrank as the excitement grew. For the first time in a long time everyone felt hope. They stopped worrying. Blueprints were being drawn up on how the trains would connect and how many tracks there would need to be. Engineers came up with ideas of leisure cabs for vacations and travel cabs for the commuters. People worked on how much it would cost to start chopping down the trees to make way for the tracks, but oh, how they would be set on wood for life. There were enough trees to fuel their train for centuries. Everything was finally starting to work out for the best. That is, until people began to go missing in the forests. Everyday more and more cases of missing persons were reported. Search teams were sent out to retrieve them only to get lost as well. Theories were formed that there were creatures in the forests. With the deep ocean there to hide them before, they were now well exposed to the light and the world above them. How much longer would it be before they began to move closer inland instead of hide away like they were so accustomed to before? In a panic, new plans were drawn up in place of the train plans. With this new threat to the world everyone began to build a wall that would be so huge that nothing could get in, and no one could get out. |

| body | When I was younger I used to write all kinds of crazy stories in my journal and read them to my family. I loved it, writing was my passion. Each story I wrote was based off me- of course- and my love interest was always the most current boy I was crushing on. I was not very good with creating new names so everyone kept their real name if they made it to my story. Each setting was based off a different book I was reading or where I wanted to live. It was all so personal and connected to me, but it helped me develop a keen sense for writing. As I got older, I started writing a little bit of fanfiction off of a very popular series at the time. Can you believe it was Twilight? I was such a dork, but the platform I wrote on had so many people who loved my stories and loved the continuing lives of Edward and Bella, Renesme and Jacob. It was great and I got so many positive comments. Now, after years of not writing any stories or fanfiction or even diary entries like I used to do daily, I find myself struggling to find the proper words for what I want to say. I am not short of ideas for books, no, that is not the problem. The problem is that I can't figure out what I want to say and it's driving me nuts. I go back and find old stories from when I was younger and I think, "Where did I learn to write like that? How did I figure out how to string together those words?" It's incredible to see what I would come up with and in all honesty.. I'm a little bit jealous of younger me. I was so free with my words and could write (yes write, not type) for hours on end about these little stories I've created and fantasies I want to happen in real life. And now I'm wondering, "How can I get to that point again when the idea of picking up a pencil makes me nervous?" I still have so many ideas about what I want to write and so many rough drafts I've created in my head. Every time I get down to actually writing it out I clam up and end up sitting with a blank paper in front of me until I give up. I figure the best way to get back to writing like I did before is to start writing religiously again. So when I heard about this website where you can blog and write about anything I got excited. I started the process of setting up an account and am now here, typing my very first blog while I sit at work. I have no idea what I'm actually going to write on here but I know that as long as I keep up with it then one day I can finish these stories I've created in my head and make younger me proud. I hope whoever reads these enjoys them as much as I will enjoy writing again. |
