| body | Ever wanted to look leaner and fitter instantly to show off your well-toned body for a beach vacation, the New Year's eve party, a cousin's wedding, or a big date? If yes, then we have tips for you to look thinner, slimmer, leaner and better instantly. No, it's not an optical illusion. Whether you have 3 days, 7, 10, 14 days, 2 weeks or 1 month, you can use these tips to look thinner for the big day. 01.Drink Water Start your day with a glass or two of plain water. Research has proven that drinking water first thing in the morning helps jump start your metabolism and helps remove toxins from your body. Also, if you want a drink then make it water as water is a drink and has no calories. Drinking plain water also helps in controlling hunger and prevents you from eating unnecessary calories. Switch to water or green tea and feel the difference within a day.Read to know more green tea to lose weight. 02.Walk After Your Meals If you are not cut out for running or exercising then we might have something simpler for you. Try taking a ten-minute walk after your every meal. This can help you burn a few calories quickly and aid in digestion. Did you know: that 5-minute walk taken shortly after each meal can improve daily blood sugar levels to a greater extent than a single 45-minute walk in the morning.Researchers say that a post-meal stroll helps clear glucose from the bloodstream in part because more of it is taken up by the muscles. Next time post your meal skip the couch and go for a short walk. 03.Eat More Fiber High-fiber foods are good for your health and weight loss. Fiber-rich foods might help boost weight loss by helping you to feel fuller after you eat. But most of us eat only about half as much fiber as we should. High-fiber foods generally require more chewing time, which gives your body time to register when you’re no longer hungry, so you’re less likely to overeat. And high-fiber diets also tend to be less "energy dense", which means they have fewer calories for the same volume of food. So the best way to add more fiber to your diet is by starting your day with a fiber-packed breakfast in the form of oats, whole wheat flakes & muesli. You can also include fruit with every meal, and start your meal with a bowl of fresh, seasonal salad. 04.Eat At Home In urban Indian with new restaurants opening every day a person is eating out an average of 4 meals a week outside his/her home. For some really busy professionals, this number is as high as an average of one meal a day. Although restaurants are offering more nutritious food options these days, the choices are often limited. Most foods that are served in restaurants contain high amounts of fat and calories, and they can be detrimental to your health if they are consumed on a regular basis. Besides its different to completely control what goes into preparing your food in a restaurant. If you eat at home, you have more control over how the food is prepared. Eating at home is one of the best ways to promote a healthy lifestyle and lose weight. Try limiting your food outings per week and feel the difference. 05.Eat Less Salt Go easy on the salty snacks, like namkeen, chips, high sodium pickles, pretzels and processed foods that are high in sodium. Extra salt is added as a preservative in such foods. Salt contains sodium and high sodium foods cause water retention in the body, which can make you look bloated. Besides, salt is so addictive that you can’t be satisfied with one chip. You will certainly crave to eat the whole packet. The sad news is that a packet of small potato chips is almost 500 calories! These many calories will take at least 45 minutes of running to burn off. We have a simpler solution: just skip this packet to avoid the extra calories and lose weight!Read more to know why to avoid processed foods? 06.Run Yes, you read it right: RUN. Running helps you burn calories, reduce stress and suppress appetite hormones. If you are used to walking then add a little bit of jogging in intervals. Running/jogging helps you burn more calories & tone up faster than walking in the same amount of time! But it doesn’t end here. Research confirms that exercises like running result in “after burn” which means that one continues to burn more calories for as long as two hours after you have stopped running. |

We have a simpler solution: just skip this packet to avoid the extra calories and lose weight!Read more to know why to avoid processed foods?\n\n\n\n06.Run\n\nYes, you read it right: RUN. Running helps you burn calories, reduce stress and suppress appetite hormones. If you are used to walking then add a little bit of jogging in intervals. Running/jogging helps you burn more calories & tone up faster than walking in the same amount of time! But it doesn’t end here. Research confirms that exercises like running result in “after burn” which means that one continues to burn more calories for as long as two hours after you have stopped running.\n\n",

| body | Psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl once wrote, “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” For most people, feeling happy and finding life meaningful are both important and related goals. But do happiness and meaning always go together? It seems unlikely, given that many of the things that we regularly choose to do – from running marathons to raising children – are unlikely to increase our day-to-day happiness. Recent research suggests that while happiness and a sense of meaning often overlap, they also diverge in important and surprising ways. Roy Baumeister and his colleagues recently published a study in the Journal of Positive Psychology that helps explain some of the key differences between a happy life and a meaningful one. They asked almost 400 American adults to fill out three surveys over a period of weeks. The surveys asked people to answer a series of questions their happiness levels, the degree to which they saw their lives as meaningful, and their general lifestyle and circumstances. As one might expect, people’s happiness levels were positively correlated with whether they saw their lives as meaningful. However, the two measures were not identical – suggesting that what makes us happy may not always bring more meaning, and vice versa. To probe for differences between the two, the researchers examined the survey items that asked detailed questions about people’s feelings and moods, their relationships with others, and their day-to-day activities. Feeling happy was strongly correlated with seeing life as easy, pleasant, and free from difficult or troubling events. Happiness was also correlated with being in good health and generally feeling well most of the time. However, none of these things were correlated with a greater sense of meaning. Feeling good most of the time might help us feel happier, but it doesn’t necessarily bring a sense of purpose to our lives. ADVERTISEMENT Interestingly, their findings suggest that money, contrary to popular sayings, can indeed buy happiness. Having enough money to buy what one needs in life, as well as what one desires, were also positively correlated with greater levels of happiness. However, having enough money seemed to make little difference in life’s sense of meaning. This same disconnect was recently found in a multi-national study conducted by Shigehiro Oishi and Ed Diener, who show that people from wealthy countries tend to be happier, however, they don’t see their lives as more meaningful. In fact, Oishi and Diener found that people from poorer countries tend to see their lives as more meaningful. Although the reasons are not totally clear, this might be related to greater religious belief, having more children, and stronger social ties among those living in poorer countries. Perhaps instead of saying that “money doesn’t buy happiness,” we ought to say instead that “money doesn’t buy meaning.” Not too surprisingly, our relationships with other people are related to both how happy we are as well as how meaningful we see our lives. In Baumeister’s study, feeling more connected to others improved both happiness and meaning. However, the role we adopt in our relationships makes an important difference. Participants in the study who were more likely to agree with the statement, “I am a giver,” reported less happiness than people who were more likely to agree with, “I am a taker.” However, the “givers” reported higher levels of meaning in their lives compared to the “takers.” In addition, spending more time with friends was related to greater happiness but not more meaning. In contrast, spending more time with people one loves was correlated with greater meaning but not with more happiness. The researchers suspect that spending time with loved ones is often more difficult, but ultimately more satisfying, than spending time with friends. When it comes to thinking about how to be happier, many of us fantasize about taking more vacations or finding ways to avoid mundane tasks. We may dream about skipping housework and instead doing something fun and pleasurable. However, tasks which don’t make us happy can, over time, add up to a meaningful life. Even routine activities — talking on the phone, cooking, cleaning, housework, meditating, emailing, praying, waiting on others, and balancing finances — appeared to bring more meaning to people’s lives, but not happiness in the moment. More broadly, the findings suggest that pure happiness is about getting what we want in life—whether through people, money, or life circumstances. Meaningfulness, in contrast, seems to have more to do with giving, effort, and sacrifice. It is clear that a highly meaningful life may not always include a great deal of day-to-day happiness. And, the study suggests, our American obsession with happiness may be intimately related to a feeling of emptiness, or a life that lacks meaning... follow me , |

| body | Wonderful Day How about making every day a wonderful and enjoyable day, different and better than how you live your life now? You can create and enjoy beautiful, satisfying and wonderful days by making small changes in your daily life. Everyone encounters problems, difficulties and obstacles, which can spoil one's day. However, with a changed attitude and a few tips, even during such days, you will be able to make your days, at least to some extent, better and more enjoyable. Wake up Early and Do Something You Love Doing Sit down on your bed, just before going to sleep at night, and tell yourself that you will wake up tomorrow 30 minutes earlier than usual. Repeat a few affirmations, so that your mind accepts this idea. For a while, think about the benefits you will gain by waking and getting up earlier, and about the things you can do in these extra 30 minutes. Set your alarm clock to the appointed hour, and lie down on your bed. While in bed, watch the thoughts that pop up into your mind, but try to do so detachedly and without any tension. Just watch them calmly and in a relaxed mood, until you fall asleep. When the alarm clock rings in the morning, get up immediately, with a smile on your face. Don't give in to the desire to stay some more minutes in bed. Don't listen to your mind, which will probably persuade you to stay in bed a little longer, because it is too early to get up. Get up, wash, change your clothes, and do something you enjoy doing, such as reading a book, taking a short walk, visualizing, or practicing meditation. You may also just sit down and visualize some pleasurable and happy events from your past. It is not enough just to wake up early. Often, after waking up, we do not get out of bed, but stay for some more minutes, and then fall asleep again. You have to persuade yourself to get out of bed immediately after you wake up. It is pleasant to cuddle under the blankets, especially on a cold morning, but on this special day you need to get out of bed immediately. The feeling of pleasure and power you gain by getting immediately is greater than the pleasure of staying in bed. I am not going to describe how to handle each and every action and situation during the day, as every individual has a different life and schedule. However, I would like to mention a few examples from daily life. These examples, would help you understand you how to handle other situations..jpg).jpg) |

| body | Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination of Sri Lanka. The palace is located in the heart of the island between the towns of Dambulla and Habarane on a massive rocky plateau 370 meters above the sea level. Sigiriya rock plateau, formed from magma of an extinct volcano, is 200 meters higher than the surrounding jungles. Its view astonishes the visitors with the unique harmony between the nature and human imagination. The fortress complex includes remnants of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains. The surrounding territories of Sigiriya were inhibited for several thousand years. Since 3th century BC the rocky plateau of Sigiriya served as a monastery. In the second half of the 5th century king Kasyapa decided to construct a royal residence here. After his death Sigiriya again became a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century, when it was abandoned. The main entrance is located in the northern side of the rock. It was designed in the form of a huge stone lion, whose feet have survived up to today but the upper parts of the body were destroyed. Thanks to this lion the palace was named Sigiriya. The term Sigiriya originates from the word Sihagri, i.e. Lion Rock. The western wall of Sigiriya was almost entirely covered by frescoes, created during the reign of Kasyapa. Eighteen frescoes have survived to this day. The frescoes are depicting nude females and are considered to be either the portraits of Kasyapa’s wives and concubines or priestess performing religious rituals. Despite the unknown identity of the females depicted in the frescoes, these unique ancient paintings are celebrating female beauty and have incredible historical significance. One of the most striking features of Sigiriya is its Mirror wall. In the old days it was polished so thoroughly that the king could see his reflection in it. The Mirror wall is painted with inscriptions and poems written by the visitors of Sigiriya. The most ancient inscriptions are dated from the 8th century. These inscriptions are proving that Sigiriya was a tourist destination more than a thousand years ago. Today, painting on the wall is strictly prohibited. The buildings and gardens of Sigiriya show that the creators of this amazing architectural monument used unique and creative technical skills and technologies. The construction of such a monument on a massive rock approximately 200 meters higher from the surrounding landscape required advanced architectural and engineering skills. The gardens of Sigiriya are among the oldest landscaped gardens in the world. Sigiriya has water gardens, cave and boulder gardens, and also terraced gardens. They are located in the western part of the rock and are with a complex hydraulic system, which consists of canals, locks, lakes, dams, bridges, fountains, as well as surface and underground water pumps. In the rainy season, all channels are filled with water, which begins to circulate through the whole area of Sigiriya. Fountains of Sigiriya built in the V century, perhaps, are the oldest in the world. The palace and fortress complex is recognized as one of the finest examples of ancient urban planning. Considering the uniqueness of Sigiriya UNESCO declared it a World Heritage site in 1982. Sigiriya is an unmatched combination of urban planning, water engineering, horticulture and arts. |

| body | Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Sigiriya is an unmatched combination of urban planning, water engineering, horticulture and arts. |

| body | Wonderful Day How about making every day a wonderful and enjoyable day, different and better than how you live your life now?
