      "title": "পঠন-পাঠন ও জ্ঞানচর্চা",
      "body": "\"There is no frigate like a book.\"-Emily Dickinson, অর্থাৎ, \"বইয়ের মত এমন নৌযান আর নেই।\"- এমিলি ডিকিনসন। নৌযানে চেপে আমরা যেমন দেশ-বিদেশ ঘুরে দেখতে পারি, তেমনি বই নামক নৌযানের কল্যাণে আমরা জ্ঞান-সাগরে ভেসে ভেসে প্রত্যক্ষ অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন করতে পারি।\n\n     আমাদের জানা আছে, \"প্রাণ থাকলেই প্রাণী হয়, কিন্তু মন না থাকলে মানুষ হয় না।\" আবার বলা হয়ে থাকে যে, \"জ্ঞানহীন মানুষ পশুর সমান।\" অর্থাৎ হৃষ্টপুষ্ট খোদার খাসি হয়ে ভবলীলা সাঙ্গ করলেই চলে না। বাঁচার মত বাঁচতে চাই। আর এজন্য ঈশ্বর প্রদত্ত কায়ার উন্নতির পাশাপাশি ছায়া স্বরূপ যে মন বা আত্মা রয়েছে, তার পরিশুদ্ধি অর্জন করা চাই। ইসলামে যাকে ‘তাকওয়া’ বলা হয়েছে, বৌদ্ধ ধর্মে তাকে বলা হয়েছে ‘নির্বাণ’। অপরাপর ধর্মেও বোধ করি ভিন্ন কোন নামে এ তত্ত্বের জাহির করা হয়েছে।\n\nকিন্তু প্রশ্ন হল, আত্মার পরিশুদ্ধি অর্জন করা যায় কিভাবে? মানব মনের পশুত্ব কুরবানির মাধ্যমেই হোক, আর ‘কর্মের’ মাধ্যমেই হোক- আত্মার সমৃদ্ধি অর্জনের সঠিক পন্থাটি জানা চাই। আর সঠিক পন্থাটি জানাতে বিভিন্ন ধর্মগ্রন্থে যেমন কার্যকর ইঙ্গিত রয়েছে, তেমনি যুগে যুগে মনীষীগণ দিয়েছেন বিভিন্ন মত-পথের দিশা। যেমন দার্শনিক স্পিনোজার কথাই ধরুন না, যিনি বলেন- “ভালো খাদ্য বস্তুতে পেট ভরে কিন্ত ভাল বই মানুষের আত্মাকে পরিতৃপ্ত করে।\" যাহোক, এসব মত-পথ-পাথেয় সম্বন্ধে সবিস্তারে জানতে জ্ঞান চর্চা আবশ্যক, যা পড়ার (বই) মাধ্যমে সম্পন্ন হতে পারে।\n\n     বই পড়া বা বইয়ের গুরুত্ব সম্পর্কে মনীষীগণ অনেক কথাই বলেছেন। ফার্সি সাহিত্যের কবি ও সাহিত্যিক ওমর খৈয়াম বলেছেন- “রুটি মদ ফুরিয়ে যাবে, প্রিয়ার চোখের কাজল মুছে যাবে, কিন্তু একটি বই অনন্ত যৌবনা, যদি তেমন বই হয়।”  টলস্টয়ের মতে, “জীবনে মাত্র তিনটি জিনিস প্রয়োজন বই, বই এবং বই।” ইউরোপ কাঁপানো বিখ্যাত সেনাপতি নেপোলিয়ান বলেন-“অন্তত ষাট হাজার বই সঙ্গে না থাকলে জীবন অচল।” আমাদের পল্লীকবি জসিমউদ্দিন বইয়ের গুরুত্ব বুঝাতে অনেকটা ডিকিনসনের মতই বলেছেন, \"বই আপনাকে অতীত, বর্তমান ও ভবিষ্যতে তথা সকলকালে নিয়ে যেতে পারে । যে দেশে আপনার কোনদিন যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা নেই, বইয়ের রথে চেপে আপনি অনায়াসে সে দেশে যেতে পারেন।\" Francis Bacon এর মতে, \"Reading maketh a full man;...”\n\n     কিন্তু কোন কোন বই পড়ব, কতটুকু পড়ব, কত সময় ধরে পড়ব, কতটুকু বিরতি নেব, কতটুকু চিন্তা করব, অর্জিত জ্ঞানের (প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে অবশ্য জ্ঞান না বলাই বাঞ্ছনীয়, বরং কাঁচামাল বা উপাত্ত বলাই ভাল, যা পর্যায়ক্রমে তথ্য-জ্ঞান-প্রজ্ঞা-মণীষায় রূপান্তর লাভ করে) কতটুকু আত্ত্বীকরণ করব, বাস্তব জীবনে এ জ্ঞানের কতটুকু প্রয়োগ ঘটাব-তা মৌলিক প্রশ্ন। আবার বই পড়ার পাশাপাশি আর কি পাঠ করা দরকার, তা জানা আবশ্যক। এছাড়া জ্ঞানের সাথে অভিজ্ঞতার সম্মিলন কিভাবে ঘটাব, তাও জানা দরকার। দেখুন Francis Bacon কি বলেন, \"Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested; that is, some books are to be read only in parts; others to be read, but not curiously; and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.\"\n\n      তাছাড়া মানব মনের সুকুমার বৃত্তিগুলো প্রস্ফুটিত করতে জ্ঞান চর্চা যে আবশ্যক, তা বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না। 'জ্ঞান অর্জন’-শব্দ যুগলের মধ্যে একটি অন্তর্নিহিত ভাব লুকিয়ে আছে, আর তা হল জ্ঞান অর্জন ও অর্জিত জ্ঞানের প্রয়োগের আবশ্যকতা। তাই প্রথমেই পাঠ্যাভ্যাস গড়ে তোলার প্রয়োজন বোধ করি। পবিত্র কুরানের প্রথম আয়াতেই তাই বলা হয়েছে, ‘পড়’ (ইকরা)। আবার হাদিসেও জ্ঞান অর্জনের উপর সমধিক গুরুত্ব দেয়া হয়েছে। মনীষীগণ নানাভাবে পঠন-পাঠনের গুরুত্ব ব্যাখ্যা করেছেন। মহান লেখক ফ্রান্সিস বেকন তাঁর ‘পঠন-পাঠন’ প্রবন্ধে জ্ঞান অর্জন, রস আস্বাদন, রসবোধ অর্জন, কর্ম কুশলতা অর্জন সহ পঠন-পাঠনের নানাবিধ দিক নিয়ে আলোচনা করেছেন। Francis Bacon বলেন, \"Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability.\"\n\n তবে জ্ঞান অর্জনের ক্ষেত্রে পুস্তক পাঠই যথেষ্ট মনে করি না। তাই Francis Bacon পঠন-পাঠনের বাইরে অভিজ্ঞতা সঞ্চরণ সংক্রান্ত বিষয়ের (empirical issues) উপরও সমধিক গুরুত্ব দিয়েছেন। যাহোক, পাঠ শব্দটির বহুমাত্রিক পরিধি কল্পনা করা যায়। সবার আগে নিজেকে পাঠ করা আবশ্যক মনে করি। তাইতো সক্রেটিস বলেন,  “নিজেকে জানো”, অর্থাৎ সবার আগে নিজেকে পাঠ করা দরকার। এজন্য বোধ করি আজকাল শিক্ষিত শব্দটির পাশাপাশি স্বশিক্ষিত শব্দটি জনপ্রিয় হয়েছে। আবার নিজেকে জানতে চারিপাশের বিস্তৃত পরিবেশ সম্পর্কেও সম্যক জ্ঞান থাকা চাই। এজন্য মহান সৃষ্টিকর্তা কর্তৃক সৃষ্ট প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশ পাঠ করাও জরুরি। তাইতো সুনির্মল বসুর কন্ঠে শুনি, \"বিশ্ব জোড়া পাঠশালা মোর, সবার আমি ছাত্র\"। যে পত্র-পল্লবের ডগায় আমরা নিছক শিশির বিন্দু দেখি, তা রবীন্দ্রনাথের চোখে ধরা দেয় মহামূল্যবান মুক্তা হিসেবে। তাইতো জীবনানন্দ দাশ কুয়াশায় দেখেন “ধরণীর সবুজ দ্বীপের ছায়া” ‘আতশ’ হিসেবে।\n\nসেদিন এ-ধরণীর\nসবুজ দ্বীপের ছায়া—উতরোল তরঙ্গের ভিড়\nমোর চোখে জেগে-জেগে ধীরে-ধীরে হ’লো অপহত\nকুয়াশায় ঝ’রে পড়া আতসের মতো।\n\nআমরা বিজ্ঞানী নিউটনের কথা ভুলতে পারি না, যিনি আপেল পতনের দৃশ্য অবলোকন করে মাধ্যাকর্ষণ তত্ত্ব আবিষ্কার করেন। \n\n      আধুনিক তথ্য-প্রযুক্তির যুগে ‘epistemological quest’ বা জ্ঞানানুসন্দিৎসা কোন নির্দিষ্ট স্থান-কাল-পাত্রে বন্দী নয়। তাই জ্ঞান অর্জনের জন্য শুধু যে পুস্তক পাঠ আবশ্যক, তা নয়। তেমনি শুধু যে প্রতিষ্ঠান কেন্দ্রিক জ্ঞান চর্চা করতে হবে-এমন কোন কথাও নেই। ঘরে বসেও জ্ঞান অর্জন করা যায়। এর জন্য বাগাড়ম্বর করার প্রয়োজন নেই। আবার নির্দিষ্ট বিষয়ে প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা অর্জন করার পর অন্য বিষয়ে পান্ডিত্য অর্জন করা যাবে না- এমন ধারনাও ভ্রান্ত মনে করি। আমরা ডাক্তার জাকির নায়েককে ডাক্তার হিসেবে যতটা না চিনি, তাঁর চেয়ে বেশি চিনি ধর্মতাত্ত্বিক (theologian) হিসেবে। আমরা দার্শনিক জ্য পল সার্ত্র বা রাজনীতিবিদ উইনস্টন চার্চিলের সাহিত্যে নোবেল পুরস্কার প্রাপ্তির কথা স্মরণ করতে পারি। তাই জ্ঞান অর্জনের জন্য থাকা চাই একটা অনুসন্ধিৎসু মন। আমরা বিস্ময় বালক টমাস আলভা এডিসনের কথা ভুলতে পারি না, যে নিজের গতরের সতরে আগুন ধরালেন, শুধু জানার জন্য এটা কেমন জ্বলে।![01.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPUYLcW5CxqfqfNmCRYVkusXv1zr5zKiWD8JCP8fWYEjA/01.jpg)",
