The bitcoin crash explained clearly below.<br></p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>A Whale’s Awakening</strong><br></p>\n<p>“I mined some bitcoin for a little bit, a long time ago; back when it was still possible to mine with GPU.</p>\n<p>I haven’t been active here for a long time</p>\n<p>How do I move my BTC to sell?”</p>\n<p>This was posted on the forum of bitcointalk.org on March 10th by a person who goes by the name “whoamisoon”.</p>\n<p>The massive sum of 1000 BTC that had not been moved for about a decade was moved in this transaction, being worth around 8.000.000$ at that time.</p>\n<p>Two days later —therefor yesterday, on the day of the crash— the unknown miner posted the following:</p>\n<p>“Thank you all for all the suggestions. It was overall a great return and the best welcome one can get!</p>\n<p>Keep it up; I can see it helping others that are in my shoes as well.”</p>\n<p>An illiquid and overleveraged market in the midst of a recession</p>\n<p>The problem with trying to sell such a vast amount of the cryptocurrency spot is that the whole asset class is still tiny compared to other markets.<br></p>\n<p>In another far larger liquidation, BITMEX recorded the incredible sale of another 700 Million in Bitcoin. This is unprecedented and a massive amount of Bitcoin to be offered into the market at the same time. It should be noted that both gold and silver who are traditional safe harbor investments also incurred substantial downturns. This massive sale drove prices down in a market already illiquid and with many investors cashing in to make margin calls and general response to the panic that gripped the nation. </p>\n<p>All of these assets are now enjoying substantial increases with Bitcoin alone showing a 5% increase in value over the past 12 hours. Given the fact tha the Fed injected over 1.5 Trillion in new liquidity into the market on Friday and followed up a few hours ago, Sunday, March 15 by lowering interest rates to near zero and resuming quantitative easing or QE there is good reason to believe money will be looking for safe havens and we should see Bitcoin returning to its $9000 level and then increasing to our projected $18,000 as the having approaches on or about May 20 or in about 65 days. <br></p>\n<p>It should be noted that the liquidation by <a href=\"https://miningbonanza.info/exchanges\">BITMEX,</a> an exchange with a shady reputation, may have been several whales liquidating huge amounts of BTC with the expectation they can be bought back at a bargain price. After all, if one could liquidate at an average price of $9000 and then buy back at 7000 a huge 1-week profit could be realized in a very short period of time. This opinion is based on long observation of the actions of certain whales controlling huge amounts of bitcoin and other cyber currencies.</p>\n<p>A whale (somebody who owns a lot of Bitcoin) moving such huge amounts of money in a market that is comparatively illiquid and very overleveraged can cause a cascading effect that liquidates a lot of traders, causing an avalanche that pushes the price down further and further.</p>\n<p>The cryptocurrency legend Andreas M. Antonopoulos had actually warned of the possibility of a crash for those very reasons about two months ago at the What Bitcoin Did Podcast.</p>\n<p>“I think the first-order effect that happens if we have a recession is crypto crashes because all the liquidity dries up which is a classic effect and symptom of a recession. […] All of those things are really a symptom of the fact that we have a small lifeboat and a very, very large number of people who need saving.” — Andreas Antonopoulos</p>\n<p>So while the current situation on the global stock market possibly has an impact on the liquidity of the cryptocurrency markets, there’s a chance that Bitcoin’s worst crash in its history since the Mt.Gox incident has been caused by one guy selling a lot of it in an insecure, illiquid and overleveraged market.</p>\n<p>Add to that the PlusToken scam that recently sold a lot of Bitcoin, the #Coronavirus that sparks fear across all asset classes and a general demand for cash and you get the perfect storm.</p>\n<p>There’s no denying the fact that this whole market move once again showed how underdeveloped and early the whole cryptocurrency market is. BTC even climbed above the $9,600 level and traded to a new 2020 high at $9,609.</p>\n<p>However, the bulls failed to keep the price above the key $9,500 resistance. As a result, there was a fresh decline below the $9,400 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average.</p>\n<p>Bitcoin price even traded below the $9,300 level and tested the $9,200 support area. A low is formed near $9,223 and the price is currently consolidating above the $9,220 and $9,200 support levels.</p>\n<p><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\">On the upside, an initial resistance is near the $9,320 level. Besides, the 23.3% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $9,609 high to $9,223 low is also near $9,320. The various sorts of scams comprise imitation token earnings, Indices scams, and imitation services that promise to\"mix\" a user's coins with those of others in order to produce their transactions harder to trace--only to run off with all the money rather than  Ponzis, which dole out profits to investors using the money that more investors have donated and lure unwitting folks to invest in an enterprise that was phony, accounted for 92 percent of the total funds that were stolen. In June authorities alleged to have been behind the scam, but it seems that at least still hasn't been captured since someone has continued to launder the capital and even money out some of them. Chainalysis claims the PlusToken scammers have managed to cash at $185 million of stolen Bitcoin out but tried to cover their tracks by utilizing 71,000 Bitcoin addresses that are different and making 24,000 transfers.  Many of these trades were implemented using a distinctive sort of wallet which employs a Bitcoin-compatible privacy technology named CoinJoin and others in a way which makes it hard to tell who sent which payment on that receiver to unite the consumer's transactions.  Much of this money finally found its way to so-called over-the-counter (OTC) brokers, independent entities that facilitate transactions between individuals who don't want to interact with a controlled exchange.  Don't add yourself to the $4.8 Billion bonanza hauled away by scammers. </p>\n<p>The PlusToken scammers were aided by a large network. This is an estimate by Binance one fo the world's largest exchanges.</p>\n<p>Of that figure, $4.89 billion was in the form of block rewards – that is, the 12.5 BTC generated every time a new transaction block is created. The rest – some $146 million – was made via transaction fees.&nbsp;While bitcoin miners grossed $5 billion the miners of Altcoinsmay have grossed another $3 billion in revenues.</p>\n<p>That reward number is set to change later this year during the so-called halvening, when the per-block subsidy will drop from 12.5 BTC to 6.25 BTC.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>The $5 billion figure represents a decline from 2018's revenue level, when miners made an estimated $5.26 billion.
