      "body": "The Great Malnad Challenge (GMC) is a challenging ride through the Malnad belt of the western ghats of India. My daughter was particularly angry with me and considering that she was quite attached to me, I was not very surprised. Her anger towards me kept increasing everyday until I finally asked her about it. \nVery angrily she told me to \"go cycling\"\nI calmly asked her why she was angry and with tears welling up in her eyes, she told me \"you are going to miss my birthday!!\"\nHugging her tightly, I made a 'pinky promise' (she was turning 8) that I would not miss her birthday for the world.\nOnce she informed me of the dire consequences of breaking a 'pinky promise' and also that I haven't broken one as yet, she calmed down and hugging me tightly told me to make sure that I would be there.\n\nAfter sorting this out the rest was a breeze. I borrowed a Gopro session from a friend as the form factor was really small and convenient. I also bought a few SD cards to ensure that I would not miss a thing. I packed a whole lot of mounts for my action cameras.\n\nMy next problem was editing. I did not have a laptop with a configuration capable of handling the editing software. I did have an all-in-one though, and I decided to detach the stand and pack it in my bag. This was the only way I could keep up with my bi-weekly upload schedule while riding the GMC.\n\nKeeping the Bangalore rainy weather in mind, I packed an extra pair of shoes and extra cycling gear. Now I had to get myself and my bulky bag there too!!.\nFortunately Mr Lokesh dropped a message in the GMC whatsapp group asking if anyone wanted to join him in his car to Hassan. He had space for a person and not a cycle though. I pinged him and confirmed that I would join him. \n\nIt was an uneventful journey to Hassan filled with cycling banter. Once we got to Hotel Raama, Hassan we checked in and registered ourselves and signed all the indemnity forms and got our participant numbers.\nI was glad to be united with my bike again and after a quick checkup by Aditya Manju (Pedal Power, Tiptur) The cycle was taken up to the room.\n\nOver an early dinner we got to know our fellow riders. I shot videos of the entire evening and retired early to bed.       "body": "The last BBCh MTB race of the season saw a good turnout and the route had some nice single tracks through some fields. The participants in the BBCh races come for the pure joy of cycling and racing with their peers. There is no prize money for the races, but there are prizes for the overall season winners of different categories.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/wCyqU9U7dg4\n\nThe two fastest riders here - Izak and Shiven were quite camera shy (or rather too fast for me to capture on camera) and I managed to get just one good shot of each of them. \nThe winners got points for each race win and the season toppers of the elite men's and women's category got free entry to the \"GMC\" - The Great Malnad Challenge and the winners this year were Izak and Lena.\nShiven was a factory sponsored rider and he introduced me to a Track n trail contact. A very useful contact as I was allowed to make a sneek peek video of the Ciclo cafe - a cycling store and cafe before its launch.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/6jnll-VWpYM\n\nThe video was quite well received and appreciated. \nOver the course of me covering cycling events I would be asked where and when I used to cycle. The question came up as I would typically travel to the cycling events by car in order to carry my filming equipment.\nTo answer these questions, I made a video-mix of some of my cycling commutes and put it up\n\nhttps://youtu.be/SE5iN-zexCY\n\nQuite a few people messaged me on Facebook about the video with lots of appreciation for my cycling, my cycling speed and also my skills in getting through traffic.\nMy next video was a check-in at a cycle store. I had been in touch with this store for a few months in order to get our schedules to match. And this was the second date after the first one was cancelled at the last minute. I got to the store with my equipment to film and was then informed that I would not be able to film that day. This was devastating for me as I had maintained a consistent upload schedule till then and this would spoil it all for me.\nI called Sharique one of the partners at LBB (Life Behind Bars) a cycling lifestyle store specializing in single speed cycles. Thankfully he understood my predicament and allowed me to cover his place though it was a last minute thing. \n\nhttps://youtu.be/O9qQy1fx6c4\n\nFortunately both the partners - Sharique and Benny were there and I got to cover them both.       "body": "The BBCh team time trial was the next event that I got to. It was nice to see riders going in teams of two's and three's. The winner was the second rider from the team, so it was a great incentive for the riders to encourage and push each other. \n\nhttps://youtu.be/CdDlfbg81wM\n\nThe race started off in pouring rain. My shoot here was from under an umbrella but the riders had a wet and dirty(water) race. Fortunately the finish was rain-free and thanks to a water tanker the riders managed to clean up before leaving for home.\n\nI made a video on the 5 cycle essentials next. These were the 5 items that I think should be on every cycle.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/Yn_KHFA9-AM\n\nThe next video was an event coverage - the BBCh Criterium Race 2. \n\nhttps://youtu.be/Y1dbCiigrec\n\nOnce again being in a closed space, the riders could ride hard and not worry about traffic.\n\nI followed this up with some basic cycling exercises - core strengthening. These exercises can help a cyclist get better. \n\nhttps://youtu.be/Xh-LFeUmYwk\n\nMy video making skills were tested in this as I used a DSLR for the first time, and the settings were all wrong!! \nI had to use my editing skills (YouTube tutorials) to get it right.\n\nThis was when LoopLube reached out to me.
