      "body": "I am not against arranged marriages, after all it is the only hope of those millions of people in India to get their life partner rightfully, who have lost their hope in love and relationships.\n\nAlso, I am not here for a debate on arrange marriage and love marriage. Each has its own merit and demerit. But, I want to share something on this platform, which I genuinely think is important to share.\n\nI have mentioned multiple times in my answer that I belong to a small town in India, I have seen those rituals, traditions which are not in practice in metro cities. They are not even aware of its existence. But it is also a reflection of our country.\n\nThis is the story of a guy, who completed his graduation from a mediocre Engineering college and didn’t get placement. After 6 years of struggle, somehow he managed to grab a job in income tax dept. But, in the process of getting a job, he turned 31. He is good looking, with quite an impressive govt. job profile.\n\nHe got a marriage proposal, where girl was pursuing PhD from IIT. Well, in arranged marriage you can’t expect to give your own opinion too much. Because decision is already taken from parents side, bride and groom are just for formalities. He clearly said,\n\nHe doesn’t want to marry this girl, because they are not compatible. Their thinking doesn’t match.\nHe conveyed this to his father. His father didn’t listen because girl’s family background is quite impressive.\nWhen his dad didn’t listen to him, then he directly told her father that he doesn’t want to marry his daughter, but also he didn’t listen because this guy has a govt job as well very good family background.\nEven though, they did not agree for marriage, they were forced to get engaged, which happened last month.\n\nThis guy tried his best to clear things out between them (with girl). But her response was neutral, she didn’t show any interest in anything (Conversation, wedding, talking, shopping). She was not even excited for it. Where he came to know that she wasn’t happy because her family was forcing her to marry this guy, who is less educated.\n\nThat guy is no one, but my brother (cousin). We talked 4 days back, I called him after his engagement and asked about his plan of wedding. But then I came to know the truth behind this wedding.\n\nI told him to come out of that marriage, before it becomes too late.\n\nI gave him few points:-\n\nWhat if, you marry her and things doesn’t sort out? What will you do? Divorce?\nAfter divorce, there will be many lives which will get shattered.\nDivorce in India is not an easy part of life. There will be false charges, are you willing to face them?\nHe was worried, that it is a small town. There will be “Talks” about broken engagement. I said, broken engagement is far better than broken marriage.\nAnd finally, he broke this news in his family today. That he doesn’t want to marry her.\n\nSo, what is the point of writing all these things?\n\nThis is what most of the couples face before marriage. They are forced to get married against their will. Some people adjust, some don’t, which results in failure of marriage.\n\nIndian society is built in such a way, where divorced/widow women can’t take proper place among us (Keep in mind I am talking about India, not metro cities).\n\nWhat is the point of forcing your kids to marry someone, because of their family background?\nParents always take care of the happiness of their kids, suddenly what happens when it comes to their marriage?\nIs personal interest more important than the couple’s happiness?\nThese are few questions, which are still unanswered in our society. Ruining life is not an only option.\n\nThink twice.",
