We use poker bankroll management to reduce our \"risk of ruin\", i.e. our risk of going broke and losing our entire bankroll. I hope a lot of people find it useful.\n\nI teach Google Docs for one reason: simplicity. \n\nIt's FREE and you can start writing or formatting right out of the box. \n\nLibreOffice is a great office suite, but it has the same problem as using Word, you have to edit Styles before you can start.  Add a few of the other pro's to working with Google Docs like auto-save and free backups to the cloud, and it  blows these others out of the water. \n\nI can't speak to Sigil because I haven't used it, but again I stress simplicity. \n\nI will probably do a post that talks about fancier formatting. This is kind of the quick and dirty version. It gets the job done.\n\nAnyone should be able to take these tutorials and get their book ready to publish and published without having to buy anything, download anything, or mess around with anything too much. \n\nI appreciate your contributions!       "body": "I agree, don't skimp, but don't pay a million dollars for it either. \n\nAny money you invest puts you in the red. Make sure you find the right people to work with. <<< This is harder than it sounds. \n\nI have edited all of my own books first, and then had friends, family, and beta readers run through them as well. I haven't had a problem with bad reviews. \n\nIt was more important to me as a writer to publish my work than to not do it because I couldn't afford to pay someone a living wage for services. \n\nI also didn't have much success with Fiverr cover designers. That's why I don't mention it in my article. It adds more moving parts to the process than there needs to be.  \n\nUtilize your network first.\n\nThanks for taking the time to write a well-thought-out comment.",

      "body": "Nice post. But a word of caution for people creating a self-published book on a budget...do not skimp on editing and your book cover. I made this mistake with my first two books.\n\nCustomers on Amazon are ruthless and will tear into you if they find any grammatical or punctionation mistakes in your book. They expect it to be perfect. What's worse is that if you have to re-upload your manscript to KDP / CreateSpace, your book may go off the market for 24-72 hours causing you to lose your best-selling ranking. \n\nIf you do your due dilligence, you can find affordable (and sometimes free) editing. If people are interested I can discuss this in detail.\n\nRegarding your book cover - you can get a high quality cover on Fiverr for anywhere from $5 to $30 too.  Your book cover is the 1st thing people see on Amazon...and if you don't \"wow\" them in a few seconds...you may have lost a customer.\n\nAnyways, great post...just wanted to post this comment for this reading your blog post to make sure they know the consequences of skimping on editing and book cover design.",

      "body": "I'm a self-published author using the Kindle KDP platform for my eBooks and I just want to say thanks to you for doing this because there's lots of uninformed people trying to learn how to navigate the self-publishing process. \n\nIn addition to Google Docs, there are also to other great options for creating your manuscript. The first is LibreOffice Writer. Its very similiar to M.S. Word but completely open-source and free. The second is Sigil...this is for those that want to format a Kindle book \"100% properly\" but isn't for the faint of heart and does require some basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. Great work here with your post!",

I agree, meal prep is the way to go if you don't work from home - not only for convenience, but so you can size your portions properly too. , fortunately,  work from home 4 days a week so I am able to cook everything fresh daily.  But I still do some prep work ahead of time, like cooking my brown rice or potatoes for the week.\nI don't do salads - they don't fill me up enough. Luckily this summer my garden is producing loads of cherry tomatoes, zucchini and squash so I sautee them up in a little olive oil and salt-free seasoning for my veggies for most of my meals that require veggies. \nI'll definitey keep you posted, I've come up with some ingenous  ways to mix up my diet with PB&J and desserts too which cutting!",

      "body": "Yeah - online poker that involves gambling with your own money deposited on a poker site is only legal in a few states. Global Poker's sweepstakes model gets them around that - what's really awesome for them is that they say they patented the process so no other online poker sites can use it (unless they license it for $). I feel safe putting my money on there since they have an office in San Francisco, CA and process deposits and withdrawals via PayPal - with lots of people on 2+2 having no issues getting their money.",

(Or at least as delicious as broccoli can ever look.) \n\nAs I'm sure others will attest, weekly meal prep is key if you can find the time and don't mind the repetitive meals.\n\nOn Sunday nights, I've been making salads to take to work for the week. I bake chicken and put dressing in small plastic containers so the spinach/lettuce doesn't get soggy through in the fridge.\n\nThe chicken and spinach stay the same, but I rotate the other ingredients to make a different salad each week. So far I've done a basic Caesar salad, Southwest BBQ, Mediterranean, and cranberry walnut. Typically runs for $3-4 USD each, although you can probably do it for less.\n\nKeep us posted!",

This is my personal opinion of their online poker room.<br>\n</p>\n<p>For those of you who live in the United States (and not in one of the few states at regulate online poker), you know that finding a reputable place to play with a decent player pool and timely withdrawals is a drag. Well, I was an Ignition Casino Poker regular for the past couple of years, but their software stability issues (lag, disconnects, etc.) caused me to finally pull all my money off there and find a new poker home.       "body": "<html>\n<p><img src=\"https://s3.postimg.org/rkj9awlcz/20170725_181708.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"478\"/></p>\n<h2>What Spurred My Journey</h2>\n<p>I turned 41 on June 2, 2017 and throughout the past year because of a combination of injuries, lack of motivation, and a lack of interest, I found myself getting more and more out of shape and definitely more prone to injuries. In July 2017, I found myself slowly continuing to gain weight, eat more and more crap food, and feeling not so great. I'm 5' 10\" and was 189lbs. Here's the worst part - I've had borderline high cholesterol for close to a year and wasn't doing anything to remedy it. I also suffer from lower back pain and my doctor says I have degenerative disc disease...and the more time I spend away from the gym, the more it hurts.</p>\n<p>It was then I decided to make a conscious effort to (1) reign my weight into a manageable amount (2) eat a healthier diet through a combination of joining a gym, getting personal training and closely watching my macro nutrients and (3) work on reducing my cholesterol level and increasing my core strength to reduce back pain. That was three weeks ago and when my journey began...and I want to start sharing it with you.</p>\n<h2>My Hopes with This Blog</h2>\n<p>My hopes with this blog are to regularly post updates of my journey, sharing what works and what doesn't and to inspire people to make positive, healthy changes in their lives too. I want to share my weight loss journey and body transformation, my exercise routines, and eating habits. I hope to do at least a weekly update - because I'm new on Steemit and plan on doing poker and online entrepreneurship posts as well - with the ultimate goal of losing 2o to 30lbs to get close to my weight I was in my 20's, which at the same time lowering my cholesterol, eliminating my back pain and being more physically active.&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>3 Weeks in and 12lbs Lighter!</h2>\n<p>I'm the kind of person that once I set my mind to it, I give it 100% or I don't do it at all. My wife and I joined a gym, I signed up for some initial personal training and started really working on eating healthier. I'm currently approximately 3 weeks into my fitness transformation and have lost 12lbs in that time frame. The initial 7-8lbs of water weight came off quickly and since then its been a slow reduction of weight by exercising 5x per week and putting my body at a 600 calorie deficient each day.&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Exercise Routine</h2>\n<p>Without going into too much details, I go to the &nbsp;gym 3 times per week and do an upper and lower body split focusing on low weights an high repetitions with 4-5 sets per exercise. I ensure I amply warm-up with some light cardio and stretching before each workout. I additionally do core work every time I'm in the gym working on strengthening my lower back, abs, and abductor muscles - focusing on exercises that don't hurt my lower back. In addition to my lower back pain, I also have elbow pain in my left elbow, so I have to be careful lifting too heavy on my push and pull upper body exercises. If I have the energy, I'll try to do fasted cardio 2-3 times a week in the morning. If I don't do morning fasted cardio, I'll make sure I do cardio at least 3x a week in the evening for 30-45 minutes.</p>\n<p>If you want me to post my current routine, let me know and I'll definitely do so in my next post. :-)</p>\n<h2>Nutrition</h2>\n<p><img src=\"https://s2.postimg.org/tl1z7z6yh/20170720_190654.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"/></p>\n<p>My personal trainer &nbsp;set my calories and macros to the following to ensure I go into a caloric deficient and I've also cut out fatty red meats and sugary foods and drinks.</p>\n<ul>\n  <li>Calories: 1,706</li>\n  <li>Carbs (g): 128</li>\n  <li>Fat (g): 66</li>\n  <li>Protein (g): 150</li>\n</ul>\n<p>I use the premium version of MyFitnessPal to track my daily food intake and calories...and I highly recommend it! My meals often vary, but can look something like this:</p>\n<p>3 egg whites and 3 Canadian bacon along with 1/3 cup quick oats with1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and raisins and dash of cinnamon for flavor. Snack are some form of protein and carbs or fat, which might be a protein shake with an apple, nuts, or low carb bread and 1 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter. Lunch is typically brown rice, serving of fresh veggies and chicken pattie. Dinner is protein and veggies of some sort. I work out at night, so I'll see what I have left in my macros to finish up...which is always protein and then a healthy fat and/or carb.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>I haven't been good about taking pictures of my food, but I've come up with some easy, but flavorful meals and will be sure to share them in future posts with images!</p>\n<p>I've also found some low calorie desserts, so I'll be sure to share them too!</p>\n<h2>That's It for Now!</h2>\n<p>Losing weight and getting into shape, even over 40 doesn't have to be a dreadful endeavor and I want to share with you how I'm doing it.
