| title | My own worst enemy |
| body | I've thought long and hard about whether or not to even write this, but some of my friends said it could be good for me to get the story out there. After all, the first step to a solution is admitting there is a problem. Now I've been working at the same company for nearly two years now and it's been an experience, to say the least. Some of it was good, most of it was bad. I've always been an all or nothing guy, even though that has got me into trouble on several occasions. When I started working here, it seemed like the best step I had ever taken in my - still young - career. The work was fun, the people were fun and I enjoyed every bit of it. It almost came naturally to start working more and more. What started as 40 hours a week soon changed to at least 60 hours a week, but most of the times over 70 hours a week. Now that's not something that bothered me because like I said; I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. I enjoyed what I did, so it didn't feel like there was something wrong. That lasted for around 4 months after which it was time to go on a vacation. The main problem with me working so much was that I've created a dependency for the company. They were completely depending on me and while that may seem like a good thing at first, it's not so much fun anymore when you're forced to come home early from your vacation because several problems have arose which only you can solve. Looking back at it, that was the moment I should have said; Enough is enough. Unfortunately I didn't, because I was just too blinded and somehow I had convinced myself this was a normal situation if you enjoy your work. As time went by and months passed, I could feel myself slipping away more and more. Exhaustion was starting to get the best of me and it resulted in me making more and more mistakes. It put a strain on my relationship and my friendships. After all these months with work being my main focus, I felt like the person I once was had completely disappeared. What didn't help at all was that I had gotten zero appreciation for all the work I had done for the company. All the hours I've spent working. If you're spending every bit of time you have on working without getting any appreciation, it will become too much eventually. However, blinded as I was, I told myself my upcoming travels to Asia for 3 months would fix everything. That would be the time to let it all go for once and reset. I couldn't have been more wrong. The moment I stepped on that plane, I started suffering from panic attacks. At first I thought it was just me being nervous for my trip, even though I was really looking forward to it. It didn't take me long to realise that because I was finally away from all the stress from home, I started taking the time to actually think about the situation I found myself in at work. I finally had no excuse to not think about it and I was forced to face this troublesome situation. The panic attacks kept getting worse and basically I wasn't enjoying myself at all. The work had simply been too much. Eventually every situation i found myself in where I didn't have an option to "escape" if I needed to, triggered a panic attack. In the end the fear of a panic attack, actually triggered a panic attack. After a month I was forced to go home because I simply wasn't in a position to enjoy any of it and being all alone only made matters worse. Of course my vacation wasn't all bad, but with panic attacks on a daily basis, it's hard to fully enjoy the trip. Now I've been home for 1 month now where I've had the time to think about the situation. I decided to start thinking of myself more instead of the company all the time. Obviously I do still think my work is important, but it's not important enough to risk my (mental) health. I've started working again this week and the first thing I did was set boundaries and told my boss about "the new me". As expected though, he didn't like it one bit and I've felt stressed out again. I'm seeking professional help, because I've finally come to realise I can't do it all by myself, even though I'd like to. I guess that's the first step to a solution, but I do feel I have a long way to go. I've gotten the advice to talk about it, so maybe writing this might be of help as well. Meanwhile, I'm also applying for new jobs because I don't feel I'm in the right company anymore. Maybe I never was, but it took me a while actually realise that. It's time for a change of scenery where I can focus on my work without it being such a strain on my health. Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope it will help some people realise that they're not alone. I've learned the hard way you can't do it all alone, even though I'd love to. |

I've always been an all or nothing guy, even though that has got me into trouble on several occasions. \n\nWhen I started working here, it seemed like the best step I had ever taken in my - still young - career. I enjoyed what I did, so it didn't feel like there was something wrong.\n\nThat lasted for around 4 months after which it was time to go on a vacation. The main problem with me working so much was that I've created a dependency for the company. They were completely depending on me and while that may seem like a good thing at first, it's not so much fun anymore when you're forced to come home early from your vacation because several problems have arose which only you can solve. \n\nLooking back at it, that was the moment I should have said; Enough is enough. Unfortunately I didn't, because I was just too blinded and somehow I had convinced myself this was a normal situation if you enjoy your work. \n\nAs time went by and months passed, I could feel myself slipping away more and more. \n\nHowever, blinded as I was, I told myself my upcoming travels to Asia for 3 months would fix everything. That would be the time to let it all go for once and reset. I couldn't have been more wrong.\n\nThe moment I stepped on that plane, I started suffering from panic attacks. Eventually every situation i found myself in where I didn't have an option to \"escape\" if I needed to, triggered a panic attack. In the end the fear of a panic attack, actually triggered a panic attack. \n\nAfter a month I was forced to go home because I simply wasn't in a position to enjoy any of it and being all alone only made matters worse. Of course my vacation wasn't all bad, but with panic attacks on a daily basis, it's hard to fully enjoy the trip. \n\nNow I've been home for 1 month now where I've had the time to think about the situation. I decided to start thinking of myself more instead of the company all the time. Obviously I do still think my work is important, but it's not important enough to risk my (mental) health. I've started working again this week and the first thing I did was set boundaries and told my boss about \"the new me\". \n\nAs expected though, he didn't like it one bit and I've felt stressed out again. I'm seeking professional help, because I've finally come to realise I can't do it all by myself, even though I'd like to. I guess that's the first step to a solution, but I do feel I have a long way to go. I've gotten the advice to talk about it, so maybe writing this might be of help as well.\n\nMeanwhile, I'm also applying for new jobs because I don't feel I'm in the right company anymore. Maybe I never was, but it took me a while actually realise that. It's time for a change of scenery where I can focus on my work without it being such a strain on my health.\n\nAnyway, thank you for reading and I hope it will help some people realise that they're not alone. I've learned the hard way you can't do it all alone, even though I'd love to.",

| body | ![[email protected]](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUPWuorZLBcvV53V7xhKK7NhZzPWkTYAsXs4yy4d9ZUnL/logo%402x.png) As an avid event visitor, I can’t think of a system that’s more than ready for change than the event business. The online society we currently live in has done wonderful things for us, yet it has also brought something to the event business which needs to be dealt with: fraud. ## What's wrong? Currently there are two parties in place that are profiting of us, the fans. The primary market platform and the secondary market platform. Studies have shown that 60% of all tickets for popular shows are sold to so called “bots”. These same bots then try to resell these tickets on a secondary market platform for a price that’s 49% higher (on average) than the original price. This obviously means that a lot of real fans are not able to go their favorite shows anymore, because they simply can’t afford the “new prices”. The fans that are still able to afford the higher prices end up paying a lot more than they should. The reason this problem still exists and keeps getting worse, is because the primary market platform has no incentive at all to do something about it. The only thing they care about is the amount of tickets being sold, not who ends up buying them. ## How to fix it? Now this is where Aventus comes into play. For years and years these platforms have profited of fans, but Aventus has come up with a solution that is going to eliminate this problem once and for all; By leveraging the blockchain. The most important part about solving this problem is regaining control over the secondary market. Therefore, tickets will have an identity associated with them, preventing “bots” to buy all tickets and resell them to whomever they want to, for whatever price they want to. This identity will be securely stored in the blockchain with a unique identifier and this can only be changed if the ticket is sold through the approved secondary market. What I love most about Aventus is the fact that it finally gives control back to the ones that should have it; the organisers and the fans. No longer do we, the fans, have to pay absurd amounts of money for tickets. No longer does an organizer have to explain to a fan that they basically have no control over it. To me, this is a perfect example of what the blockchain is all about; Giving power back to the people and taking it from the ones that are trying to abuse it. |

I always thought I didn't care what others thought it me, yet I did everything I could to try to prevent anyone from thinking negatively about me. It had put so much strain on me and I only started realising it when it had become too much already. I'm still struggling with it on a daily basis but it's getting better and seeing I'm not the only one sure helps. Thanks for your article. :) |

| body | It’s Wednesday and your first drink with a lot of snacks is already planned, even though THIS time you were really planning no turning your life around. But oh well, you already screwed up Tuesday and you’re going on a vacation next week, so you might as well start your vacation right now. Right? Guess again. ## Sooner or later you’re going to fail You would just love to wait for the perfect moment to start anything, so that you can minimize the chances of you failing. But it doesn’t matter how long you wait, sooner or later you’re going to fail. Sooner or later, you’re going to be setback but it is up to you how to deal with that so that you come out of it even stronger! That’s why this planned vacation is perfect to learn from. It’s those lessons that will get you further. Whatever you do, you’re going to face challenges, unless you’re planning do nothing, meet no one and basically stay inside for the rest of your life. Birthdays, drinks on Friday, festivals. You’re supposed to still enjoy that. However you should enjoy them in a way so that they don’t stand in the way of you achieving your goals. ## Did you know the 80/20 rule? Are you afraid you might be headed for a boring vacation if you start changing your lifestyle right now? You don’t have to be! With the 80/20 rule you can create flexibility within your diet. How does it work? It’s really simple. The only thing you have to do is make sure that 80% of your diet is comprised of healthy food, like vegetables, fruit, wholegrain products or protein. The remaining 20% can be comprised of food that wouldn’t usually count as a healthy choice. That way, you create some flexibility within your diet and you can still create a balanced diet. It’s a perfect rule, as long as you don’t forget the most important one; If you want to lose weight, you have to burn more than you consume! ## Don’t make it any harder than it has to be It’s actually very simple: If you want something, you will have to work for it. Even when you’re going on vacation, because after this one you’re probably already thinking of the next one, and the next one, and the one after that. Do you want to start over after every vacation? No. You want to create a lifestyle in which you can achieve your goals and still enjoy a healthy life. Don’t postpone for a month, a week, not even a day. If you want to change your life, start today! |
