In no time, it became known for its freakshakes and burgers,” Sr Rommel began. “Here, we’ve already expanded the menu. Separate identity na from Baguio branch.” The southern branch was also the first to introduce the concept of holding corporate functions, training events and private parties. Interested parties may book the entire space for exclusive use for a minimum of three hours (Php1,500/hour, consumable).</p> <p>“Since mahilig kami kumain, kung ano ang masarap sa panlasa namin, yun ang nilalagay namin sa menu,” Ms Bernadeth shared how they built their menu. Loyal customers rave about their homemade crust pizzas (from a local supplier who makes them in small batches), toppings and sauces all made from scratch.</p> <p>But of course, what draws people in are the incredibly photogenic and beautifully layered freakshakes. Made with the freshest ingredients and good quality local ice cream generously heaped upon each glass, Beans and Mugs Laguna freakshakes are edible works of art. Exclusive to the Laguna branch is the current bestseller, KitKat Freakshake.</p> <p>That afternoon, we tried one of their newest offering, the Pistachio Freakshake. Unlike ordinary shakes, the freakshake is more heavyweight in both looks and taste. Pistachio ice cream filled the vintage-looking glass, topped with bite-sized butterscotch squares, peanut kisses and almonds. One can’t help smiling at the sight of the freakshake. “Every time nagse-serve ako ng freakshake, nakikita ko talaga excited sila. Ang saya saya nila. From mga bata hanggang mga seniors, natutuwa sila pag nakita nila ang freakshake namin,” Ms Bernadeth narrated with a smile.</p> <p>While it is good for two to share, many times a single customer can finish a freakshake on his own. Compliments from satisfied customers are “Hindi tinipid, even toppings masarap!” To that, we agree. The same can be said of the cafe’s savory dishes. Each plate is sizeable, considering the price, freshly cooked and again, generous in its ingredients.</p> <p>The bestsellers that we sampled on our first visit were: Wings and Fries (the wings have light, crispy skin and moist, flavorful inside), Nachos Overload (these nachos remained crunchy even after a few hours), Cheesy Bacon Burger, Overload Fries and one of their popular rice bowls, Chicken Fillet (with homemade gravy and seasoning).</p> <p>There’s a lot to say about the food in this little place. The fries are thick and delicious, made from real potatoes that they buy from the market after which they clean, slice and deep fry. Potato fries made in the best, old-fashioned way. They do the same with the potato chips that come as sides to the burgers (assembled using their own homemade patties). They also adhere to traditional cooking methods: no preservatives and no additives.</p> <p>“We are proud of our prices. Quality food at very reasonable rates,” Ms Bernadeth shared and the accountant made sure her numbers line up. The perennial order of barkadas, the Nachos Overload, is priced at only Php180, for example. No surprise that the cafe always elicits comments such as “Sulit!” with two thumbs up.</p> <p>Plans for the future include opening more branches in the south. For the business-minded Ms Bernadeth (founder of the popular Me&amp;Mom, a breastfeeding and maternity online shop), who can ably juggle both a regular job and a business, anything is possible. The other room has two double beds for four kids with an en-suite bathroom (no tub or aircon but roomy and very pretty). It even has cushy armchairs for lounging and a hand painted table for playing board games and eating.</p> <p>Each room is equipped with complete bath amenities, towels, hair dryer, slippers, personal ref, electric kettle, complimentary water bottles and sachets of coffee. Food and drinks are allowed so we brought more snacks to enjoy our mini vacay.</p> <p>After a very comfortable sleep, we woke up refreshed for the Filipino buffet breakfast at the airconditioned kitchenette. Design inspiration for the breakfast room is distinctly Filipino, also the prevailing theme in the events place. We felt like being in the cozy kitchen of a contemporary Filipino home, with Batibot chairs and solid wooden tables perfect for family feasts. Lining the wooden shelves are different vintage cooking utensils and kitchen apparatus: a weighing scale, pot, kettle, serving bowls, mortar and pestle, an ice shaver, to name a few. It was my first introduction to Bataan- inspired cuisine and we immensely enjoyed the adobo which was a dry variant (no sauce but very flavorful, with a slight kick from the chili) and the longganisa (i like that it was firm, not too oily and hefty enough that one delicious piece makes for a filling meal).</p> <p>A night at Alta Veranda de Tibig after a wedding is one of the most memorable stays we’ve had in a long time. It was extra special because not anyone can stay in this beautiful place. The rooms are available only for event bookings and you are blessed if the celebrants invite you to stay overnight after their event.</p> <p>What is noteworthy is the fact that there was no electric power in Silang, Cavite during our stay. Nobody in the party noticed as we didn’t feel any discomfort or disruption even during the wedding activities. Evidently, their high capacity generator was more than enough to supply all the needs of all the bedrooms, the sound systems, airconditioning and the bright lights for the double events that was booked for the weekend. Business as usual at Alta Veranda de Tibig, with or without power (and even when it rained ashes, as what happened during the start of the year).u</p> <p>There are 13 other rooms available in Alta Veranda de Tibig, and no two rooms are identical. Each one is lovingly designed and furnished with locally handcrafted materials and unique imported pieces. Another noteworthy fact: all the rooms were planned and decorated by the couple <b>owners Noe and Daisy Guevarra </b>together with their design team<b>: Architect Norman Corbadura </b>and Sr Noe’s<b> cousin Marlon Guevarra </b>and <b>brother Danilo Guevarra, </b>a<b> </b>Landscape Artist<b>. </b>No interior decorator was consulted; the team relied on their design instincts and preferences, with a little inspiration from magazines.</p> <p>Now if only Alta Veranda de Tibig was open 24/7 and you can stay even without an event, that would make for more memorable nights. No surprise there, really, as the wide expanse of land houses incredibly beautiful structures that provide the elements that even the most meticulous bride and groom can approve — high ceilings that lend well to dramatic lights and flower installations, plenty of tall windows and sheets of glass that bring the outdoors in and allow natural illumination, a vintage cast iron staircase for making a grand entrance, thick solid wood doors that open to stunning tablescapes, antique and genuine glass chandeliers that evoke the beauty of long gone eras, an altar-like half dome of glass that is the perfect backdrop for the couple exchanging vows and a village of old Filipino houses surrounding a plaza. Imagine entertaining guests surrounded by antique streetlamps, charming capiz windows, graceful balustrades and delicate cutout woodwork!</p> <p>When Taal erupted, Alta Veranda de Tibig was happily and efficiently hosting a wedding reception for hundreds of guests. It was only the second weekend of the new year and everybody was on a post-holiday high and feeling the love for the newly wedded couple. On that day, Alta Veranda de Tibig was also in the perfect spot to accommodate a frantic request to make the beautiful wedding of another couple happen. Apparently, their original garden wedding reception prepared in a nearby events venue is not going to handle the increasing volume of ashes spewed by Taal Volcano.</p> <p>In true Alta Veranda fashion, they transformed their other covered venue in record time to a lovely reception area. Owner Noe Guevarra said that it took them a single hour (they were pressed for time as the couple and their guests had to transfer immediately) to bring together everything needed to make it happen. “Sa isang oras po, sa tulong ng aming mga staff, subok na accredited caterer at iba pang supplier, nabigyan namin ng isang magandang reception ang kinasal at ang mga guests nila. Tuwang tuwa po sila, kami rin,” he smiled while telling the story.</p> <p>They pulled it off, obviously. Magnificently. When nature struck and the unexpected happened, what could have ruined a milestone celebration for the newlyweds, their families and guests, turned out to be even more memorable.</p> <p>Yes, Taal definitely had a hand in making that wedding something that will be remembered long after the day. No surprise there, really, as the wide expanse of land houses incredibly beautiful structures that provide the elements that even the most meticulous bride and groom can approve — high ceilings that lend well to dramatic lights and flower installations, plenty of tall windows and sheets of glass that bring the outdoors in and allow natural illumination, a vintage cast iron staircase for making a grand entrance, thick solid wood doors that open to stunning tablescapes, antique and genuine glass chandeliers that evoke the beauty of long gone eras, an altar-like half dome of glass that is the perfect backdrop for the couple exchanging vows and a village of old Filipino houses surrounding a plaza. Imagine entertaining guests surrounded by antique streetlamps, charming capiz windows, graceful balustrades and delicate cutout woodwork!</p>\r\n<p>When Taal erupted, Alta Veranda de Tibig was happily and efficiently hosting a wedding reception for hundreds of guests. It was only the second weekend of the new year and everybody was on a post-holiday high and feeling the love for the newly wedded couple. On that day, Alta Veranda de Tibig was also in the perfect spot to accommodate a frantic request to make the beautiful wedding of another couple happen. Apparently, their original garden wedding reception prepared in a nearby events venue is not going to handle the increasing volume of ashes spewed by Taal Volcano.</p>\r\n<p>In true Alta Veranda fashion, they transformed their other covered venue in record time to a lovely reception area. Owner Noe Guevarra said that it took them a single hour (they were pressed for time as the couple and their guests had to transfer immediately) to bring together everything needed to make it happen. “Sa isang oras po, sa tulong ng aming mga staff, subok na accredited caterer at iba pang supplier, nabigyan namin ng isang magandang reception ang kinasal at ang mga guests nila. Tuwang tuwa po sila, kami rin,” he smiled while telling the story.</p>\r\n<p>They pulled it off, obviously. Magnificently. When nature struck and the unexpected happened, what could have ruined a milestone celebration for the newlyweds, their families and guests, turned out to be even more memorable.</p>\r\n<p>Yes, Taal definitely had a hand in making that wedding something that will be remembered long after the day. We left understanding why so many of our friends rave about it.</p> <p>My fave: Marianne’s Salad, named after the only sister of Ed Bustos, with its balance of flavors and palate-pleasing crunch of greens (just love the crackle of crispy arugula leaves) with caramelized walnuts and sun dried tomatoes in a special dressing. My lunch mates preferred the fork tender Wood Fired Ribs and the healthy olive-oil based Pasta ala Sardines; it was the perfect dish after all the carbo-loading, sweets and just plain feasting that happened during the holidays. We all loved the fresh cooked Pasta ala Carbonara with cream, egg and a generous heaping of smoky, crispy bacon (home made in the Baguio kitchen) and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The pizza lovers on the table had a blast with the Pizza con Prosciutto (with homemade blended plum tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula olives and oregano) and the Sausage, Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza (they also make their own sausage and pepperoni).</p> <p>Amare la Cucina is Italian for “to love the kitchen” but Mendoza shared the inside scoop. “The restaurant name was also inspired by the names of the parents of the founders, (Mar and Edna Bustos), as well as the names of their children Alvin, Marianne and Ed.</p> <p>To date, Amare la Cucina has four branches outside of the original in Baguio — La Union, Kapitolyo in Pasig, Tagaytay Highlands (which of course, only members and their friends can access) and the newest in Santa Rosa. The owners state that the menu and food quality you have discovered and loved in Baguio is the same in all branches, including Santa Rosa. Even better, the prices are pocket-friendly. “We have purposely kept the prices within reach so that people can easily enjoy an Amare meal everyday if they want,” said Mendoza. While the province may be underrated compared to more popular food destinations like Pampanga, Cebu and Iloilo, people in the know prefer it that way. After all, that makes it easy to grab Ensaimada de Cavite and Pancit Pusit, to name a few, anytime you had a craving. Caviteños are fiercely proud of their home and culture. It is this same pride and strong ties to the community that prompted sisters <b class="">Larissa Antoinette and Liza Abigail M. Baloy </b>to funnel their training, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for eating to open <b class="">AU FOUR BAKERY</b>. It officially opened in October 2019 in the quaint and laid back town of Sta. Cruz, Cavite City. Au Four is French for “baked in an oven”; the name also represents the family of four behind the business, including Mom, <b class="">Luz M. Baloy</b> and Dad, <b class="">Antonio M. Baloy.</b> We visited the bakery a few weeks after its opening and chatted with the very young owner Ms. Larissa, who just graduated summa cum laude with a BS Entrepreneurship degree from Enderun Colleges a few months ago. We discovered that what makes this place unique aside from its cool French theme and truly incredible offerings (Breads! Cakes! Sweets!) are more ties that bind — love for family and God. Au Four Bakery is a casual sit-down bakery but it’s also more of a grab-and-go kind of place. Ms. Larissa started baking when she was 15 years old. “I was greatly influenced by my sister (whom she fondly calls Ate Abbey) who likes cooking and baking for other people. I remember watching her in our bakeshop’s kitchen make cookies, revel bars and more and then she’ll put them in cute boxes to give to our friends and family. From then on, I wanted to bake on my own too because I liked seeing the smiles on the faces of our loved ones [when] we give our pastries. At an early age, I’ve realized that food should be able to bring joy to others,” she said with a dimpled smile. The sisters were also heavily influenced by the family’s love for bread and the clan’s passion for cooking comfort food. When their Dad came home for good after working overseas for 21 years, their parents put up the family-owned Baloy’s Bakeshop without any experience making bread, armed only with their love for it and a desire to meet the community’s demand for fresh baked breads everyday. Ms. Larissa remembers helping out in the kitchen because they didn’t have enough staff back then. Remarkably, the clan with firm roots in Sta. Cruz, Cavite, are also in the food business. “My tita, Ruth M. Baloy (“Jing”), who is the chef and my lola, Myrna M. Baloy (“Nanay Baby”), started the food business, Baloy’s Catering. It started out as a canteen for college students many years ago. The catering started that time as well but they can only accommodate 100 people at the maximum. As a result, they expanded and built a bigger canteen and catering service,” the young entreprenuer said. No wonder, the passion to create good food and run a successful business is in her blood. That day, we found the best bread in the south. Among the savory delights we sampled were the Chicken Pesto Croissant,  Caviteño Turnover and Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant. Their Chicken Pesto croissant was heftier than the usual and generously filled with chicken and creamy pesto supplied by the basil farm in Hospicio de San Jose. The turnover has Imus Longganisa filling, its richness balanced by their secret atsara (you can see the many layers of pastry when you cut into it). The Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant has the winning duo of sweet ham (a generous heaping, thank you very much) and salty Kasilyo or cheese (heavy in weight and flavor, soft and oh so good!). Au Four sweet treats are just as satisfying if you have a sweet tooth. We had the incredibly buttery, flaky pastry called Apple Turnover (made with real apples — lots of it — for a delightfully moist inside and and nice crunch outside), the Chocolate Croissant, Hazelnut Bomboloni and Dulce de Leche Bomboloni. Doesn’t “Bomboloni” sound rich and decadent? I find this to be the chunkier, heavier version of the doughnut, and Au Four’s bombolonis are so delicious it can make a bad day turn instantly brighter. Ms Larissa emphasized that each bread is made fresh daily. Yes, everyday, customers can expect to find only the freshest products. Even better, Au Four employs traditional baking techniques to deliver that one-of-a-kind goodness when bread is made the old fashioned way. “Having been involved in the food industry for years now, we’ve learned the value of incorporating authentic recipes into our products and cooking from scratch. That’s why we strive to make everything in-house instead of using ready-made products. From our pastry cream for our cream puff, almond cream filling and other recipes as well. These methods have been passed down ever since our former business venture, others were taught during my college years and some were from friends from all walks of life,” the baker-entrepreneur explained. A true Caviteña, Ms. Larissa takes pride in sourcing majority of ingredients locally or directly purchasing from partner sellers/manufacturers. She said that one of their goals is to support fellow SMEs by choosing them as their partners. “An example of this is our Hamonado that we get from my tita and lola’s business – Baloy’s Catering. It is one of their specialties that’s why we make sure we highlight it in our Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant. Another component of the said product is the Kasilyo which we get from a local farm in General Trias, Cavite. They’re known for their dairy products from water buffalos. Even our Caviteño turnover filling – imus longganisa and atsara, are from local partners. We met them years ago when Baloy’s Bakeshop was our only business yet so these have been proven to be of really good quality. With that, we make sure that as our business grows, we bring them with us.” Ms. Larissa went on to say that while the concept for Au Four Bakery started between the sisters, it is very much a family endeavor. So much so that family dinners often become lively and productive board meetings (over good food, of course). It is admirable and inspirational what a family serious about making bread and focused on their goals can accomplish. She has a very clear vision of what she wants to offer (French-inspired breads baked fresh everyday), why they are doing it (to offer new breads in addition to classic Cavite favorites like rice cakes), and how she wants to present it (in a hip, French bistro with subway tiles, warm wood accents and 120 lightbulbs in the patio — the likes of which have never been seen before in their city). But what inspired her (and the whole family) to open Au Four Bakery? “Being raised and born in Cavite City, our family saw the need for the Caviteños to be provided with a new and different food experience. The city has always been rich with culture especially with its cuisine. However, we knew that with the continuous urbanization of the province, the city itself had to keep up. And with that, there is always that realization that the Caviteños deserve more – good food, quality service and a more innovative selection. So, in simpler words, what sets Au Four Bakery apart from other bakeries and cafes is the different experience we aim to provide our customers while staying true to our roots. That means offering new products while incorporating Cavite’s heritage, traditions, etc. An example of this as mentioned before are our Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissants, Caviteño Turnover, etc,” she narrated. We certainly got a surprising yet delightful experience. It was a joy to discover that Au Four Bakery has the most substantial croissant. Ever. One is good enough for a light yet satisfactory meal (but we won’t judge if you take two or more). We tasted the handmade quality, that personal touch adding dimension and flavor that’s getting rare to find these days — especially in something as quickly consumable as bread. We can’t help but ask what their secret is. “Our secret is not really a secret as it lies in our name itself. Aside from its French translation (baked in an oven), the real meaning is how we’re four in the family and how all of us are closely involved even from the beginning. It’s all about running the business with love, and faith in God by acknowledging that all success comes from Him alone. And with that, we make sure that all decisions for Au Four will glorify Him.” Au Four goes beyond the usual panaderia classics by offering French breads and pastries with a distinct Caviteño twist. What’s more, the bakery also has sumptuous cakes (the Chocolate Truffle and the Oreo Cheesecake are two bestsellers) and over 40 flavors of ice cream (the family has been a reseller of the popular Big Scoop Ice Cream since 2015). There is so much to rave about this French Bakery but we must mention the sisters’ brainchild, the Bravocado, a unique spin on the Brazo de Mercedes, where layers of meringue, custard and Avocado ice cream are packed in a copper-toned tin can, ready for gift giving and pasalubong. In parting, Ms Larissa said that they understand that eating bread makes people happy and they want their customers to feel at home in Au Four. “As owners, we think like customers, ‘Will I buy this?’ At the end of the day, the only question that matters is ‘Masarap ba?’” We answer, “Masarap talaga!” <b class=""><i class="">Get the Au Four Bakery experience (must-try: melt-in-the-mouth Ensaimada Ice Cream Sandwich)! While the province may be underrated compared to more popular food destinations like Pampanga, Cebu and Iloilo, people in the know prefer it that way. After all, that makes it easy to grab Ensaimada de Cavite and Pancit Pusit, to name a few, anytime you had a craving.\r\n\r\nCaviteños are fiercely proud of their home and culture. It is this same pride and strong ties to the community that prompted sisters <b class=\"\">Larissa Antoinette and Liza Abigail M. Baloy </b>to funnel their training, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for eating to open <b class=\"\">AU FOUR BAKERY</b>. It officially opened in October 2019 in the quaint and laid back town of Sta. Cruz, Cavite City.\r\n\r\nAu Four is French for “baked in an oven”; the name also represents the family of four behind the business, including Mom, <b class=\"\">Luz M. Baloy</b> and Dad, <b class=\"\">Antonio M. Baloy.</b>\r\n\r\nWe visited the bakery a few weeks after its opening and chatted with the very young owner Ms. Larissa, who just graduated summa cum laude with a BS Entrepreneurship degree from Enderun Colleges a few months ago. We discovered that what makes this place unique aside from its cool French theme and truly incredible offerings (Breads! Cakes! Sweets!) are more ties that bind — love for family and God. Au Four Bakery is a casual sit-down bakery but it’s also more of a grab-and-go kind of place.\r\n\r\nMs. Larissa started baking when she was 15 years old. “I was greatly influenced by my sister (whom she fondly calls Ate Abbey) who likes cooking and baking for other people. I remember watching her in our bakeshop’s kitchen make cookies, revel bars and more and then she’ll put them in cute boxes to give to our friends and family. From then on, I wanted to bake on my own too because I liked seeing the smiles on the faces of our loved ones [when] we give our pastries. At an early age, I’ve realized that food should be able to bring joy to others,” she said with a dimpled smile.\r\n\r\nThe sisters were also heavily influenced by the family’s love for bread and the clan’s passion for cooking comfort food. When their Dad came home for good after working overseas for 21 years, their parents put up the family-owned Baloy’s Bakeshop without any experience making bread, armed only with their love for it and a desire to meet the community’s demand for fresh baked breads everyday. Ms. Larissa remembers helping out in the kitchen because they didn’t have enough staff back then. Remarkably, the clan with firm roots in Sta. Cruz, Cavite, are also in the food business. “My tita, Ruth M. Baloy (“Jing”), who is the chef and my lola, Myrna M. Baloy (“Nanay Baby”), started the food business, Baloy’s Catering. It started out as a canteen for college students many years ago. The catering started that time as well but they can only accommodate 100 people at the maximum. As a result, they expanded and built a bigger canteen and catering service,” the young entreprenuer said. No wonder, the passion to create good food and run a successful business is in her blood.\r\n\r\nThat day, we found the best bread in the south. Among the savory delights we sampled were the Chicken Pesto Croissant,  Caviteño Turnover and Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant. Their Chicken Pesto croissant was heftier than the usual and generously filled with chicken and creamy pesto supplied by the basil farm in Hospicio de San Jose. The turnover has Imus Longganisa filling, its richness balanced by their secret atsara (you can see the many layers of pastry when you cut into it). The Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant has the winning duo of sweet ham (a generous heaping, thank you very much) and salty Kasilyo or cheese (heavy in weight and flavor, soft and oh so good!).\r\n\r\nAu Four sweet treats are just as satisfying if you have a sweet tooth. We had the incredibly buttery, flaky pastry called Apple Turnover (made with real apples — lots of it — for a delightfully moist inside and and nice crunch outside), the Chocolate Croissant, Hazelnut Bomboloni and Dulce de Leche Bomboloni. Doesn’t “Bomboloni” sound rich and decadent? I find this to be the chunkier, heavier version of the doughnut, and Au Four’s bombolonis are so delicious it can make a bad day turn instantly brighter.\r\n\r\nMs Larissa emphasized that each bread is made fresh daily. Yes, everyday, customers can expect to find only the freshest products. Even better, Au Four employs traditional baking techniques to deliver that one-of-a-kind goodness when bread is made the old fashioned way. “Having been involved in the food industry for years now, we’ve learned the value of incorporating authentic recipes into our products and cooking from scratch. That’s why we strive to make everything in-house instead of using ready-made products. From our pastry cream for our cream puff, almond cream filling and other recipes as well. These methods have been passed down ever since our former business venture, others were taught during my college years and some were from friends from all walks of life,” the baker-entrepreneur explained.\r\n\r\nA true Caviteña, Ms. Larissa takes pride in sourcing majority of ingredients locally or directly purchasing from partner sellers/manufacturers. She said that one of their goals is to support fellow SMEs by choosing them as their partners. “An example of this is our Hamonado that we get from my tita and lola’s business – Baloy’s Catering. It is one of their specialties that’s why we make sure we highlight it in our Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissant. Another component of the said product is the Kasilyo which we get from a local farm in General Trias, Cavite. They’re known for their dairy products from water buffalos. Even our Caviteño turnover filling – imus longganisa and atsara, are from local partners. We met them years ago when Baloy’s Bakeshop was our only business yet so these have been proven to be of really good quality. With that, we make sure that as our business grows, we bring them with us.”\r\n\r\nMs. Larissa went on to say that while the concept for Au Four Bakery started between the sisters, it is very much a family endeavor. So much so that family dinners often become lively and productive board meetings (over good food, of course). It is admirable and inspirational what a family serious about making bread and focused on their goals can accomplish. She has a very clear vision of what she wants to offer (French-inspired breads baked fresh everyday), why they are doing it (to offer new breads in addition to classic Cavite favorites like rice cakes), and how she wants to present it (in a hip, French bistro with subway tiles, warm wood accents and 120 lightbulbs in the patio — the likes of which have never been seen before in their city).\r\n\r\nBut what inspired her (and the whole family) to open Au Four Bakery? “Being raised and born in Cavite City, our family saw the need for the Caviteños to be provided with a new and different food experience. The city has always been rich with culture especially with its cuisine. However, we knew that with the continuous urbanization of the province, the city itself had to keep up. And with that, there is always that realization that the Caviteños deserve more – good food, quality service and a more innovative selection. So, in simpler words, what sets Au Four Bakery apart from other bakeries and cafes is the different experience we aim to provide our customers while staying true to our roots. That means offering new products while incorporating Cavite’s heritage, traditions, etc. An example of this as mentioned before are our Hamonado &amp; Kasilyo Croissants, Caviteño Turnover, etc,” she narrated.\r\n\r\nWe certainly got a surprising yet delightful experience. It was a joy to discover that Au Four Bakery has the most substantial croissant. Ever. One is good enough for a light yet satisfactory meal (but we won’t judge if you take two or more). We tasted the handmade quality, that personal touch adding dimension and flavor that’s getting rare to find these days — especially in something as quickly consumable as bread.\r\n\r\nWe can’t help but ask what their secret is. “Our secret is not really a secret as it lies in our name itself. Aside from its French translation (baked in an oven), the real meaning is how we’re four in the family and how all of us are closely involved even from the beginning. It’s all about running the business with love, and faith in God by acknowledging that all success comes from Him alone. And with that, we make sure that all decisions for Au Four will glorify Him.”\r\n\r\nAu Four goes beyond the usual panaderia classics by offering French breads and pastries with a distinct Caviteño twist. What’s more, the bakery also has sumptuous cakes (the Chocolate Truffle and the Oreo Cheesecake are two bestsellers) and over 40 flavors of ice cream (the family has been a reseller of the popular Big Scoop Ice Cream since 2015). There is so much to rave about this French Bakery but we must mention the sisters’ brainchild, the Bravocado, a unique spin on the Brazo de Mercedes, where layers of meringue, custard and Avocado ice cream are packed in a copper-toned tin can, ready for gift giving and pasalubong.\r\n\r\nIn parting, Ms Larissa said that they understand that eating bread makes people happy and they want their customers to feel at home in Au Four. “As owners, we think like customers, ‘Will I buy this?’ At the end of the day, the only question that matters is ‘Masarap ba?’”\r\n\r\nWe answer, “Masarap talaga!”\r\n\r\n<b class=\"\"><i class=\"\">Get the Au Four Bakery experience (must-try: melt-in-the-mouth Ensaimada Ice Cream Sandwich)!
