He tested out the most popular 7 privacy tools for Ethereum by appreciating all of the tools. You may find his original work in Resources section.</p>\n<p>The goal of the experiment is to transfer value confidentially between two guys around the world. The experiment came from real-life uses, considering what people need. Most of the crypto folks are more than happy to receive payments in ETH or USDT.</p>\n<ul><li>Both are based on the Ethereum blockchain</li><li>Both are tradable against fiat in the biggest number of countries around the world.</li><li>Combined market cap on Mar 28 ~ 18B USD</li><li>Combined trading volume 24h ~ 52B USD</li></ul>\n<h1>Let’s get started!</h1>\n<p>Meet Nick🕵‍♂ 👋. He works in blockchain space, and keeps his salary and in stable coins (We’ll say it’s USDT). He also invests in crypto. His friend Bob 🙋‍♂️ who is also a master in crypto and playing a lot with DEFI asked Nick to borrow 50 USDT to pay back DEFI loans to get his collateral back. Typical story 🙂</p>\n<p>Nick keeps a lot of other cryptos in his wallet, so the only acceptable way to send 50 USDT without showing his main wallet balance — is using a privacy tool.</p>\n<p>If Nick uses <a href=\"https://incognito.org/t/wallet/336\">Incognito wallet</a>, he could send privately 50 USDT within a couple mins and forget about this situation. Easily, without any unnecessary movements, by lying on a sofa and listening to music:</p>\n<ol><li>Open a mobile wallet</li><li>Shield his USDT (if it’s not shielded yet)</li><li>Send them privately to Bob</li></ol>\n<p>But Nick🕵‍♂ likes challenges and the flashbacks do not let him sleep peacefully 🤯 So Nick decided to go with those the most popular tools: Tornado Cash and Aztec.</p>\n<p>Nick is smart☝️, he knows that USDT is an ERC20 token based on Ethereum blockchain. So Nick went to google and found several the most popular tools for private transactions on Ethereum on <a href=\"https://docs.ethhub.io/ethereum-roadmap/privacy/\">ethhub.io</a></p>\n<p>Here is the list of tools and products on ethhub which promise private transactions for Ethereum (onchain, layer 2, and mixers). Here is the whole list:</p>\n<h4>Zero Knowledge-Based</h4>\n<ol><li><a href=\"https://docs.ethhub.io/built-on-ethereum/infrastructure/aztec-protocol/\">Aztec Protocol</a> is building an efficient zero-knowledge privacy protocol and decentralized exchange. The protocol is already live on Ethereum’s manner.</li><li><a href=\"https://www.starkware.co/\">Starkware Industries</a> is using STARK technology to improve scalability and privacy on Ethereum.</li><li><a href=\"https://blog.enigma.co/welcome-to-enigma-start-here-e65c8c9125ef\">Enigma Protocol</a> is building <a href=\"https://blog.enigma.co/defining-secret-contracts-f40ddee67ef2\">‘secret contracts’</a> which enable <a href=\"https://blog.enigma.co/computing-over-encrypted-data-d36621458447\">computation over encrypted data</a>.</li><li><a href=\"https://ethresear.ch/t/zether-the-first-privacy-mechanism-designed-for-ethereum/5029\">Zether</a> is a confidential (transaction amounts are hidden) and anonymous (transaction sender and receiver are hidden) payment mechanism on blockchains with the account model like Ethereum.</li></ol>\n<h4>Mixers</h4>\n<ol><li><a href=\"https://tornado.cash/\">Tornado</a> is a mixer, which uses zk-SNARKS.</li><li><a href=\"https://heiswap.exchange/\">Heiswap</a> uses <a href=\"https://kndrck.co/posts/heiswap_internal_arch_tour/\">stealth addresses and linkable ring signatures</a>.</li></ol>\n<blockquote>“Oh” — thought Nick🕵️‍♂️, — “ if I want to be a master I have to try all of them. I’ll send funds to Bob quickly and keep exploring all 6 tools”</blockquote>\n<hr/>\n<h1>Let&#x27;s start with ZK-Based tools.</h1>\n<p>Keep in mind that Nick is lying on his sofa and going to send 50 USDT to his friend.</p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://docs.ethhub.io/built-on-ethereum/infrastructure/aztec-protocol/\">Aztec Protocol</a></h2>\n<p>👉 The first step is getting a wallet (or connect to the web).<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/5/51fb91a586ce5d5f404c3e15e5a7ff08bebb2401.png\" alt=\"image\"/>Ops… First problem. Aztec supports only DAI but promises to add ETH and BTC (Bob🧞‍♂️ can’t wait, because his collaterals will be liquidated, so he is ready to accept DAI too). Money is money.</p>\n<p>Let’s try to find a way to transfer 50 DAI privately to Bob🧞‍♂️<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/7/7a14bced338dccd614b30e04c1b835727549e537.png\" alt=\"image\"/>👉 Nick🕵‍♂ is 3 years in crypto, but still can’t do transactions via API or SDK, unfortunately. 👎<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/0/09707d23de3e8037e4806958665664a631f08a9d.png\" alt=\"image\"/>❌The Aztec protocol looks awesome, but we must conclude that the mission is failed ❌</p>\n<blockquote>Thank God, we have 5 more options to send $50 (yes, you saw right $50, because now Bob🧞‍♂️ready to accept any crypto — “just make it faster please”).</blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"https://www.starkware.co/\">Starkware Industries</a></h2>\n<p>Probably this bullet is also missed. Starkware is a technological company and they work on improving privacy set on the chain level. Vitalik’s name on the landing page gives us hope that such a tool will be implemented on Ethereum chain in the future. Meanwhile, we go further.<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/1/1db8a745c67ed823968890cbd822dddff95f1cd2.jpeg\" alt=\"image\"/></p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://blog.enigma.co/welcome-to-enigma-start-here-e65c8c9125ef\">Enigma Protocol</a></h2>\n<p>Enigma also looks like more research-based development, so far Nick🕵‍♂ hasn’t found a practical implementation 😦 A lot of documentation, SDK, Enterprise staff. Doesn’t matter already USDT, DAI or ETH, — “Send him at least something🤯”</blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"https://ethresear.ch/t/zether-the-first-privacy-mechanism-designed-for-ethereum/5029\">Zether</a></h2>\n<p>Nick found <a href=\"https://crypto.stanford.edu/~buenz/papers/zether.pdf\">research</a> from Stanford and talks on <a href=\"https://ethresear.ch/t/zether-the-first-privacy-mechanism-designed-for-ethereum/5029/6\">ethresearch</a>. So far he hasn’t found any practical implementation. Also, he left a question on the forum to find out the status of the implementation. Let’s go!</p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://tornado.cash/\">Tornado Cash</a></h2>\n<p>👉Open the website and it feels better. At least they have an option for USDT. So the initial idea could be executed 🥳.</p>\n<p>Oops. You can’t send a custom transaction: Only 100 or 1000 USDT. Other options do not exist yet. So In Nick’s case, he has to send 100 USDT instead of 50. No problem. Let’s do it.</p>\n<p>We tried to Deposit on Tornado Cash form mobile. The challenge was almost impossible. There are no questions to Tornado, more questions to the third party from which we are supposed to send funds.</p>\n<p>Long story short. Nick🕵️‍♂️ failed with a top-up tornado from mobile.<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/c/c07c24ff956acedff42d5c854739bed3c39dec77.png\" alt=\"image\"/>👉He took a laptop. With squarelink it was the same issue, so he decided to use the well-known Metamask and everything went smoothly. Looks like we have to wait for around 24h to be able to proceed with the transaction for Bob🧞‍♂️<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/4/4580741e14a56d750433dbd3d8eb4be9981739b0.png\" alt=\"image\"/>Yep, definitely need to wait some time to be allowed to withdraw. Besides, withdrawal fee is similar to the deposit ~ $1.39.<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/d/d4d32ac09350750851a68683a85091ca9cdd1602.png\" alt=\"image\"/></p>\n<h3>Quick sum-up:</h3>\n<p>At least Tornado Cash works, and we almost proceed with the transaction, and our funds are locked for around 24 hours, hopefully🙏</p>\n<p>Nick🕵️‍♂️ feels fucked by Tornado Cash. He is out of money, and Bob still haven’t’ receive anything 🙆‍♂️💆‍♂️</p>\n<p>This adventure makes Nick🕵️‍♂️ smarter. Now he starts understanding the whole power of the phrase which he saw in the beginning.<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/0/07c00d890da88366d8850a895b59aed3279b73d7.png\" alt=\"image\"/></p>\n<p>To be honest, now Nick wants to say now — “Bob, fuck off with your fucking 50 USDT. I already spent two hours and not sure how long it takes.”💆‍♂️🙆‍♂️🙅‍♂️</p>\n<p><br/><blockquote><em>And this is happening for Etherum based assets, a protocol where thousands of people are involved in the ecosystem development. Even afraid to think what the situation is like with other protocols.</em></blockquote></p>\n<p>We took a coffee break with Nick and we’re ready to move forward.</p>\n<h3>UPDATE: 24 hours later.</h3>\n<p>Nick got a chance to withdraw funds further. Thank God and Tornado Cash 🙏<img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/4/4c16bebc96748785bb4cd7242c557cc310050a2e.jpeg\" alt=\"image\"/>Meanwhile, Nick went to etherscan to be sure that Bob can’t trace his main. Let’s go on the web version.</p>\n<p>At first sight, Heiswap works in a similar way as Tornado Cash, but it supports only ETH. Nick is not picky, so he found $50 in ETH and deposited on his Metamask. And we faced one more challenge, the min amount is 1 ETH, which is even a bit more than with Tornado Cash 😅. Nick really hates Bob now, you can’t imagine how much. While he was thinking about where to get 1 ETH, he found that Heiswap still works only on the <a href=\"https://ropsten.etherscan.io/\">Ropsten</a> Ethereum’s testnet 😰</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://incognito-discourse.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/6/65cf2e0c72919bb06bfc44d0ba86febc9385c438.png\" alt=\"image\"/></p>\n<p><br/><blockquote>Fuck fuck fuck! In this analysis, I'm trying to find out a&nbsp;<strong>reasonable worst-case sell price</strong>&nbsp;of TELE token by making these assumptions:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li>As Miracle Tele states, after ICO, the remaining tokens will be burned and no tokens will be minted.</li>\n  <li>The price for all bounty and promotion tokens is counted as €0.001 (1/100 price of initial TELE toke price).</li>\n  <li>Since I cannot measure the number of airdropped or referral reward and promotion reward TELE tokens throughout the campaigns, I will double the number of bounty tokens in each campaign to tolerate this issue. This is the weakest link of my analysis :)</li>\n  <li>%25 of TELE tokens are reserved for promotion and bounty. I will assume that they will have been distributed throughout pre-ICO and ICO and the pool will be destroyed completely after the last bounty campaign ends.</li>\n  <li>The team and legal does not sell their tokens immediately.</li>\n  <li>There are no tokens sold privately, i.e. with the prices other than the public prices.</li>\n  <li>The holders do not lose their hope about the project or do not find much better investment options. As per the assumption, if I double it, the number of total zero-cost tokens becomes 108,758.</p>\n<p>In the second stage, the number of transferred from TELE contract to another wallet is 17,280,227. 459,235 of these were distributed through the first bounty campaign. As per the assumption, if I double it, the number of total zero-cost tokens becomes 918,470.In the third stage, the number of transferred from TELE contract to another wallet is 25,539,993. The new bounty campaign started but I will reflect its effect on the figures of the fourth stage since the duration is mostly in the fourth stage.In the fourth stage, the number of transferred from TELE contract to another wallet is 13,721,321 as of May 12. If I apply the current trend to this number, I estimate that 16,000,000 tokens will have been transferred up to May 15 which is the end of ICO. Since the last bounty campaign is not over yet, I will assume that Miracle Tele will distribute all of the rewards which are 2,250,000 TELE. Some may call \"earning money while sleeping\" as passive income. \n\nIn this post, I will share information about BitUniverse Grid Trading Bot (BUGTB) which I know since its launch but I underestimate without trying it (based on my previous experiences on other platforms) :) BUGTB is a bot but you may choose fully automated bot or semi-automated bot. The difference is that you have to specify the parameters of the bot manually for the latter. Of course, as a lazy person, I use fully-automated AI-based bot :) I want just easy money, not to deal with some parameters.\n\nStep-By-Step BUGTB usage for the sake of easy money:\n\n1- If not registered, register to one of these exchanges which support grid trading: [Binance](https://www.binance.com/?ref=11583561), [KuCoin](https://www.kucoin.com/#/?r=E5csGh), [Huobi](https://www.huobi.co/en-us/topic/invited/?invite_code=qwut3), [OKEx](http://www.okex.com/), [BitMax](https://bitmax.io/#/register?inviteCode=APKLBFSI), [Bittrex](https://international.bittrex.com/), [FCoin](https://www.fcoin.com/),  [Poloniex](https://www.poloniex.com/)\n\n2- Enter your email address [here](https://rewards.bituniverse.org/get_grid_diamond_en.html?invite_code=MXAjH62d) and then click \"Get My Trading Bot\" button.\n\n3- Download iOS or Android app from the opened page.\n\n4- Open the application and go to \"Account\" tab.\n\n5- Sign up Bituniverse.\n\n6- Go to \"Portfolio\" tab.\n\n7- Tap \"+\" at the top-right of the screen.\n\n8- Register your API Keys which created by the exchanges (e.g. https://www.binance.com/userCenter/createApi.html for Binance, https://www.kucoin.com/account/api for KuCoin) to the app. Do not forget that API Keys must have \"Trade\" permission. As you may understand easily, because of that, a user can invest in only base coins. These are usually BTC, ETH, USDT etc. I use Binance and KuCoin for my investments since they have several base coins (BNB, NEO, KCS, XRP) in addition to those classic ones. **If you want to invest in other coins/tokens, sorry but BUGBT is useless for you.** \n\nAs I mentioned earlier, grid trading has two modes: \"Use AI Strategy\" (fully-automated), \"Set Myself\" (Semi-automated). Since I do not deal with the parameters, I always select \"Use AI Strategy\". If you are an advanced user in trading, you may try semi-automated mode. \n\nAfter selecting the trading mode, then we choose how many percent we want to invest. The asset of the non-base coin/token in the trading pair is calculated in terms of the base coin. So the total investable amount in terms of base coin is obtained. Using sliding bar, you select the percentage of this total investable amount. The remaining part is **not** subject to trading. Let me explain the screen. I invest in KCS and BTC using NEO/KCS and AOA/BTC pairs. \"Total Invest\" shows my total investment in terms of base coin. \"Grid profit\" shows my **realized** profit and its percentage to the total investment in terms of the base coin. \"Lasting time\" shows how much time elapsed after I tap \"Create\" button. \"Annualized return\" shows how much profit you will obtain that if the current trading performance continues. Formula is \"Realized Profit / Total investment / Lasting time(normalized into days) * 365 * 100%\". \"Transactions\" shows the number of transactions performed and \"Current Price\" shows the current value of the trading pair. The others are AI-determined parameters of the bot. As I said, I'm a lazy person and do not want to deal with the parameters. In addition to realized profit (Grid profit), you may see unrealized profit whose formula is \"(base current price — Average buy price）* holding base quantity\". To my experience, higher volatility means higher profit. I'm trying to catch high volatility pairs by looking at \"7D Backtesting annualized return\" (see the first screenshot).
