But Steemit needs time, patience and real attention.\n\nYou have only been writing here for a few days. As far as I understand, you already have a mentor, @megareigns, and I also delegated 1000 STEEM Power to you as a starting help.\n\nThe most important next step for you is not only posting. You should also use your Steem Power to support other authors.\n\nPlease try to read and vote at least 10–12 good posts from other people every day, preferably with 100%.\n\nWith your current Steem Power, voting only once or twice per day and then with only 28% has almost no real effect. It is much better to vote more actively and support others with full votes.\n\nReducing the vote percentage only makes sense if you vote much more often per day or if you have much higher Steem Power.\n\nSteemit is not only about taking. It is about giving and receiving. If you support others generously, people will also notice you more. Help to strengthen the community, and the community may also strengthen you.\n\nThere is no magic best posting time that will solve everything. I went to meet to my boss brother house this morning to enquire about today’s work. That was when he opened up about the new construction that was opening today - an NNPC company. It was going to be a big project. It was only when we got close that we discovered that it was an accident. The vehicle that had an accident was a vehicle and a bike. It seems the bike was trying to cross the vehicle, the vehicle didn’t wait, and they had an accident. The accident just happened like that, but the guy, the bike man was injured on his leg. He showed us the dimension for toilet, bathroom, and soccer way. After the measurements, it was discovered that they didn’t have cement, sand, stone. So we had to go very far to buy the materials and bring it back to the site. When we started work it was around 11-12pm. So we started digging the foundation for the toilet. That was when the axe broke. We had to enter the bush to get another axe before we continued work. I woke up by 5:20am, wore my jalabi and went outside to do ablution. The early morning air was cool and quiet. I went to the mosque for Fajr prayer. After finishing my prayer I felt peace in my heart.\n\nAfter prayer I went straight to the community borehole under my care. My job there is to give out water to the people of the town. Many people were waiting with their buckets and jerrycans. I opened the tap and served them one by one. Seeing people getting water made me happy because water is something we all value in the community.\n\nWhen I was through from there I went home to prepare for farm work. I changed my clothes and packed my tools. I got to the farm at 7:25am. The main thing that bought me there was to check the yam I planted some month ago I wanted to see how wether the yam had germinated.\n\nI spent a lot of time at the farm because some of the yam that had not germinated initially were now producing tendrils. It was a good sign. So I had to go round to tie them to the yam sticks for them to climb and grow well. Farming is hard work but it gives joy when I see food produce coming out. I was able to rest for like 39 minutes before heading to the community mosque. A Nikkah ceremony was going to hold there. The event was to start by 10am but due to some circumstances they had to delay a lot.\n\nAfter the Nikkah was the traditional wedding. I took that opportunity to help them arrange chairs and the canopy to be used since the chief imam had not arrived to start the program. In Okene area, yam farming is our culture and main source of income for many families. The task was to stalk yam sticks into the ground for already germinated yam. This process is called stalking or stake setting in agriculture.\n\nI am from Okene, Kogi State. In our region, yam is called the king of crops because the profit from yam is higher than cassava, maize or groundnut. But yam farming requires a lot of labor.The process of stalking starts in the forest. First, we search for strong wooden sticks. Not every stick is good. We cut them down with a sharp cutlass. An unsharp cutlass makes the work very difficult.\n</p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nAfter cutting, we gather the sticks and carry them to the farm. Tendrils are thin, rope-like parts that grow from the yam vine. These tendrils climb and hold the stick so the plant can grow upward. Without sticks, the yam will spread on the ground and produce poorly.\n</p>\n\n\n<p>\n\nStalking the sticks helps the yam grow better and gives higher yield during harvest.
