The last 16 round. I find this the best stage as the stakes are high and surprises can always be thrown up from the weaker teams. Especially in the second leg when everything is on the line.\n\nThe first match can often be low scoring and safety first but in the second leg with goals needed all hell can break loose and we have seen some great ties over the past few years as team have needed to overcome a deficit with the clock running out.\n\nThis year, like every other year has thrown up some great battles with Barca - PSG the top one from where i stand. Barcelona are a fading force and PSG have the attacking power to destroy an team on the day. A fast hungry attack against a tired but experienced defense. I hate Neymar as a player but he can either make or break a tie depending on how petulant he feels on the day.\n\nAtletico - Chelsea should be a great battel as always and Sevilla - Dortmund a clash of styles and attitude. Chelsea have bought a serious team and have some very good players now. Their manager is not very experienced and I can see Atletico scraping though a tight affair. They have the experience and manager to make it happen.\n\nDortmund are always a joy to watch as they play to win. I always enjoy watching them as it is full on football. Sevilla can be exciting but practical and it will make for a good tie.\n\nFor the rest I would be happy enough to place an accumulator with,\n\nMan City\nBayern\nLiverpool\nJuventus\nMadrid\n\nto get through to the next round. I might actually do that as well. Liverpool could be a bit suspect with all of their injuries but form in Europe over the past few years has been very solid and Leipzig are not the strongest opposition.\n\nMatches will be in Feb - Mar so there is a while to go before this all plays out but we will be excited to see some good action after the xmas period.",

I have to say that with Klopp as manager and the current batch of players, skillful and entertaining it's a lot harder to dislike them now. I will never like them as a team but they are a different breed to the old teams of the 90's and 00's.\n\nThen we have Caoimhín Kelleher. From an Irish point of view it has been great to see a full champions league debut and now premier league debut in the same week.\n\nNot only that but he has excelled in his first proper week as a Liverpool starter and taken it all in stride. Coming into any team will be tough in the beginning but with Liverpool being the current league champions it adds that extra few notches of pressure to keep them winning in a tough year.\n\nOn top of that he is minding the goals in front of a temporary defense missing their most vital defenders. From this he has managed two clean sheets in a row and exuded confidence while doing so. It's a marked difference to his previous first team appearances where he had a lot of nervousness and was prone to silly errors of judgement. \n\nObviously the Liverpool team has been putting a lot of work into him over the past twelve months with the intention of playing him more regularly and having a solid young keeper on the books if and when he is needed.\n\nThis has obviously been a good call with Alisson out injured again this season and Adrian not up to the level required for league champions. You win leagues with defense and that includes a top quality goalkeeper as we have seen over the years. Having the wrong one in place will cost you dearly when it counts.\n\nFor the national team Darren Randolph has been a great servant to Ireland over the years and one of our most consistent performers for a long time. He won't be getting replaced any time soon but has been around a long time and that leaves a perfect opportunity to take his position before the world cup 2022. \n\nThis should be the goal over the next couple of years as Caoimhín gets a lot more caps under his belt and should be making every case to take over the Ireland no1 jersey within two years.\n\nEither way it's great to see some Irish talent at the top clubs again after a long patch without any representation. We have a good batch coming through over the next couple of years and it would be great to see that follow though to the premier league and also the national team for us.",

The exact number of injured has never been agreed. Somewhere between sixty and a hundred.\n\nThe dead of Croke Park are often described in the order in which they died. I stick up for my teams and theirplayers but even that has it's limits.\n\nIt is one thing to keep supporting players when they are going through a rough patch or a team when it is struggling to win matches but in the case of Pogba the loyalty doesn't exist.\n\nIt needs to be a two way street. I will back any player that tries hard even if they aren't doing very well but we have the opposite case here. For years he has been showing flashes of brilliance when its suits him to do it. The whole world has seen he is a top player when he wants to be but he has never had the right attitude. Not at united anyway.\n\nHe has shone for France and for Juventus but i think he only came back to England for the money before realizing that it's not always the best reason to be there. What good is the money if the joy isn't there. The passion to play and to win. To fight for your club and your team?\n\nHe has never shown these qualities since coming back to the team and it's that which frustrates people most of all. Who here wouldn't love to get that chance to play for United or even somebody else. If i got onto that pitch I wouldn't stop running until i couldn't run anymore. I would tackle everything that moved and kill for the cause.\n\nThat is what fans can get behind. Instead we get the same shit every few months of him sulking, threatening to move and then showing a few flashes of quality which gets everybody hopeful of him doing something useful before we rinse and repeat the same cycle.\n\nI'm not usually one to talk negatively about players but he has got to go. If the team has any chance of growing stronger together they need to cut out the weak links and he is one of the weakest. He hurts the team and that is not good for anybody. If the manager had a set of balls he would have done it a long time ago. Taken the money and brought in players willing to die for the team. This is a masters like no other before it. No teeming crowds and baying fans. No wild drives and awkward shots between the spectators. No fan fare and adulation as the best in the world take on the best in the world on a course that could be described as a frozen green sea. Shots that would usually drop on a pin elsewhere can roll for days or to the nearest body of water before stopping.\n\nThe masters is the ultimate prize in the golfing world and draws in all of the avid fans year in year out. It holds a special place in the eyes of the players and is the prize among prizes in terms of majors.\n\nWho can forget last year as Tiger Woods turned back time to win just one more title when the world though he was fading to obscurity after dominating the game for so long. So many problems and false dawns before somehow doing the impossible and breaking past all of his mental and physical obstacles to stand imperious once more on that hallowed 18th green at Augusta with the world watching on. As the crowd roared his name in joy again after years of shouting him down.\n\nI will be watching closely  this year but it seems unlikely that he could do it again. That was a once off in a decade of mediocrity for Tiger. With a young and hungry pack growing in numbers every year it is inevitable that they take over the sport and brush away the legacy of the greatest player there ever was.\n\nBigger, stronger and faster they will fight like animals to take that green jacket and aim for world no1 but with so many vieing for the top spot it has become harder than ever to do what Tiger once did. They play the game in a very different way as the equipment and the gym has changed to landscape that they play on but nobody will ever do it with such force and dominance as Tiger once did.\n\nAs for who wins this weekend at Augusta, I cannot say.
