I've been trying to keep things very simple this year as keeping a bullet journal can be a very time consuming activity particularly if you're a perfectionist like me... I am my own worst critic but at the same time,<br> it's also something I'm learning to ignore.\n\n---\n\n![Imgur (https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/XhOv3n4.jpg)\n\n---\n\nI started with a pencil sketch of a ribbon that twists down the page and thought this would be a great design to use as there are two very clear areas where I could place the headings for April and 2019.\n\n---\n\n![Imgur (https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/aEkgzNK.jpg)\n\n---\n\nThe next step was to ink in the details using Copic Fine Liners (0.5mm,<br> 0.3mm). After tracing the outline,<br> I added some 'stitching' along the edge of the ribbon for decoration. \n\nNext,<br> I added some shading details with vertical lines and cross-hashing for the darker areas to give it some dimension and depth.\n\nThe last thing to add was the headings and I used small lines to make up the word APRIL because I wanted it to appear as though it had been hand-stitched. \n\nEven though I used a different font for 2019,<br> the two dashes on the rounded parts of the numbers are reminiscent of an embroidery stitch that I remember seeing once... (I think it's used to create daisies,<br> so it's probably called a daisy stitch..?) but still,<br> it is a type of stitch and therefore 'fits' with the overall design.\n\n---\n\n![Imgur (https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/kLbiZ6B.jpg)\n\n---\n\nMy last step was to add some colour and for this,<br> I used watercolour pencils and a brush pen to create some subtle shades of colour.\n\nMy colour choice (Blue,<br> Orange) was especially selected to provide maximum contrast..... nah,<br> just kidding...
