The first thought I had was it was a mice. \n\n![ (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmPxpUg41qasg8MCyXHjDaGHgHWQy2VZfb5Kma7nqNQQmv\/image.png)\n\nBut closer observation revealed a cane toad nicely camouflaged with the temperament and colour of the soil. If it had not made the slight movement,
I would have failed to notice it there in the opening in the soil.\n\nWhy do animals camouflage?\n\nThe main reason is to keep hidden from predators. Predators also camouflage when trying to catch prey.\n\"Just like plants,
animals have evolved stunning characteristics and brilliant mechanisms for defending themselves passively. Whether it\u2019s the ability to change color or actually resemble other objects,
the wondrous ways in which animals camouflage themselves from predators is fascinating\". (Source: https:\/\/goo.gl\/5c7mJP)\n\nWell the toad did no harm to me or my garden. So I left it in it's place hoping no predator would find it (if it has any). Or perhaps it was camouflaged waiting for it's prey.\n\n![ (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmce74xyYvKvYpZY4q6boYFpn3pLgNjBrLRmaawPXcYczh\/image.png)",
"json_metadata":" \"tags\":[\"animals\",
\"nature\",
\"gardening\",
\"stemmit\",
\"flowers\" ,
\"image\":[\"https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmPxpUg41qasg8MCyXHjDaGHgHWQy2VZfb5Kma7nqNQQmv\/image.png\",
\"https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmce74xyYvKvYpZY4q6boYFpn3pLgNjBrLRmaawPXcYczh\/image.png\" ,
\"links\":[\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/5c7mJP\" ,
\"app\":\"steemit\/0.1\",
\"format\":\"markdown\" " |
