As with all things Cryptogee it is an interesting read to say the least.\n\nIt is usually not my style to dedicate an entire post to someone else's content but because it is a subject that i had previously been contemplating i do feel like i need to reply and give my thoughts on this subject. For the convenience of writing,
this post will be written directly to Cryptogee.\n\nHere we go :)\n\nIf i was to make a list of my favorite contributors the name @cryptogee would undoubtably be somewhere at the top of that list. Ever since i joined this platform you are one of the few top contributors that i have actually had an interaction with and that have reached out,
the other one would be @cass . **Your apparent positive attitude is a blessing that resonates through this platform and its community.**\n\nYou mentioning me out of the blue in your post: [10 Unsung Heroes Of Steem (https:\/\/steemit.com\/heroesofsteem\/@cryptogee\/10-unsung-heroes-of-steem) is something that i won't easily forget,
i hiiiiighly appreciate the fact that you looked at my work and thought it was worthy of mentioning it in your post. It also had an amazing effect on my pay outs (more on that later) So i wanted to extend my gratitude for that,
**THANK YOU!**\n\nThat said,
after reading your latest post i have to admit that i disagree with many things that you've written and i wanted to go over your post to give you my view on each point and why i think you've got some of the things you talked about wrong.\n\nhttps:\/\/s32.postimg.org\/dvrzfnfbp\/la_dd_please_dont_bring_your_crying_baby_to_my_r.jpg\n\n## The Whiners\nIt's true,
many people on Steemit are voicing their frustration over what they perceive to be unfair payouts. While i do think that there are probably some people out there who need to put in some effort before they go out and voice their frustrations i also think that some people are rightfully observing an unfortunate feature of this platform.\n\nI believe that you,
and those who fully share your opinion,
are making a crucial mistake by blatantly brushing these voices off as a bunch of whiny cry babies who are probably all western and therefore must be unfamiliar with the concepts of perseverance and persistency. You see,
it just so happens that these 'whiners' are supposed to be Steemit's future user base. Any platform,
still in beta,
that does not take the voices of its user base serious either directly through language or objective data analysis is making a huge mistake.\n\nThe perceived fairness of this platform is a huuuuuge deal for its future growth. What do you think the conversations at Steemit's headquarters will be about if statistics suddenly show that the majority of newly created accounts become inactive after a few weeks of use? Massive disillusionment in Steemit's perceived fairness is a BIG problem,
and shouldn't be viewed as: Oh well,
these guys are just all a bunch of whiny lil' Joe's.\n\nhttps:\/\/s31.postimg.org\/51w3z3erf\/Empty_pockets_broke.jpg\n\n## The Haves And Have Nots\nIt's quite easy to talk about or to minimise racism when you've never been victimized by it. Similarly it is easy for one to brush of other people's frustrations concerning payouts when every post you bang out generates a couple of hundreds at minimum. Being on the other side of the spectrum sometimes won't allow you to place yourself in that position,
and i think you should recognise that.\n\nEvery post that i've read so far concerning this problem always deviates at some point into dispensing tips and how to's. Utilise markdown! Create a new niche! Use better images! The fact is that many people have tried every trick in the book and came to the obvious conclusion that non of these guarantee you anything. Every single soul on this platform who is somewhat familiar with its inner workings knows very well what the deal is: You need the biggest creatures in the ocean on your side.\n\nThere's a good reason why,
in the early days (just couple of months ago :) ) @dan and @ned single handedly upvoted many newcomers to the platform. Their voting power was an instant warm welcome for many,
including myself. If that hadn't been the case,
i'm not sure how i would've perceived Steemit today. Many things have been written already about the massive influence of whales,
some positive,
others overwhelmingly negative.\n\nMy personal position on this subject is,
for now,
still a neutral one. I should educate myself more on te inner workings of Steemit before voicing a thorough opinion on this but what i do know is that many newcomers are perceiving this system as unfair,
and i can't emphasise enough how much we (specifically the people running Steemit) need to take that perception serious.\n\nhttps:\/\/s32.postimg.org\/pcdzc6291\/map_africa1.png\n\n## The Curious Case Of @infovore\nThroughout your post you alluded to the \"fall and get back up no matter what\" mentality which you graciously attribute to those in developing countries. As opposed to the \"i came out of bed so give me a medal\" mentality which,
according to you is ubiquitous among those in developed nations. To exemplify this notion you refer to the story of Infovore,
an African who recently stated that Steemit transformed his life from living on 1$ a day to accumulating over $41k.\n\nYou do however realise that this is the internet? In other words an African boy could in reality be a dude named Jimmy typing from a couch in North Dakota. Now let me be absolutely clear,
**I AM NOT SAYING THAT INFOVORE'S STORY ISN'T REAL.** What i am saying is that a picture with a person holding a piece of paper that has a date and Steemit written on it is by no means irrefutable evidence of one's true identity. Therefore i think that you shouldn't be so quick to point at this as a posterchild of how Steemians ought to be. Aside from that i also want to add that this bold comparison between these two mentalities is a largely erroneous generalisation.\n\n## The 30k Make-Up Bonanza.\nI won't spend much time on this but i do want to mention just a few things about @guerrint massively high grossing make-up tutorial which many people perceived to be unfair. I personally appreciate @guerrint work,
she is currently working towards popularising the platform by going on the streets and telling people about Steemit!\n\nI personally think this is awesome! I follow her work and as a person who is quite heavily involved in video production i will continue to give her tips on how she can improve her video work. Now there's many things that can be said about the content that she produces but to say that it is well scripted and thought out... You might as well start calling me Stino Kubrick. Again,
i appreciate her work but one can simply not say that the subject matter or cinematography corresponds with those kind of payouts.\n\nhttps:\/\/s31.postimg.org\/rb5wbe4dn\/chris_rock.gif\n\n## In Conclusion.\nUnfortunately,
i believe that people voicing their frustrations about payouts on Steemit will not go away any time soon. In fact,
i believe that as Steemit grows,
so will the negative reactions of people using it. While there isn't much any of us can do about that,
we can however choose how we deal with these reactions. I believe that dismissing these comments as mere childish or whiny isn't the best way of approaching this.\n\nLets not forget that Steemit is still an experiment albeit a working one,
we are still in the early stages of what is hopefully to become the dominant socio-crypto force on the internet. We all love this place,
and want it to succeed,
therefore we need to be knowledgeable about the motivation of its users to come,
but most of all stay here.\n\n**We want everyone to be part of this family.**\n\nCongratulations to you and your little girl on receiving those medals! Yet another example of where hard work and perseverance can take you.\n\nStay up Gee!\n\n@stino-san\n\n#steem #steemit\n___\n###### Did you enjoy reading this post?
