This afternoon I came across a quite bleak poem from that time. I thought I might post it,
and went down to the shore to take some pictures ...\n \n![bottles3ddaa.jpg (http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/bottles3ddaa.jpg)\n\nIn the poem,
the choice I wrote about was between a nightmare world of pollution and mutation,
and poetry. When I got home I couldn't type beyond a few lines.\n\n![but376bc.jpg (http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/but376bc.jpg)\n\nBecause from the same capture is this altogether different image. We were down there earlier,
my son and I,
laughing and running from the waves that surged up over the rocks onto the small area of sand. The small castles he built were one by one washed clean,
and the lines of safety he drew also ignored. The area where the couple on the left are walking.\n\nA few years ago - he was two or three - I was amazed to see how happily he could find something to play with,
to keep him content and happy,
in the most unlikely of places.\n\n![glassend25a10.jpg (http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/glassend25a10.jpg)\n\nSo here's a piece of _found art_,
in honour of the optimism of life. The waves were crashing into the shore,
and the air was full of the smell of the sea. The shore-birds were forced to occupy a narrower band,
between the water and the strolling people,
and I saw that they were turnstones. I will wait for a more cheerful poem.\n\nThank you for reading,
@richardjuckes",
"json_metadata":" \"tags\":[\"writing\",
\"nature\",
\"poetry\",
\"optimism\",
\"photography\" ,
\"users\":[\"richardjuckes\" ,
\"image\":[\"http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/bottles3ddaa.jpg\",
\"http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/but376bc.jpg\",
\"http:\/\/www.steemimg.com\/images\/2017\/02\/04\/glassend25a10.jpg\" ,
\"app\":\"steemit\/0.1\",
\"format\":\"markdown\" "
