And the results,
will probably surprise a lot of consumers who frequent these stores.

The investigation had looked into the grilled chicken options that were available from these locations. Many of the food companies investigated,
are frequently known to advertise their products as being fresh,
made with quality ingredients,
and even making promises that it contains nothing but 100% chicken; all-white meat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd3Trr8Xrdc

The journalists enlisted the help of a scientist to investigate the real ingredients of the products. They brought the samples to a lab in order to test the DNA of the product. By doing this they were able to tell a rough estimate of the real chicken that is contained in the sample.

They tested:
- A&W grilled chicken (sample A)
- McDonalds grilled chicken (sample B)
- Subway oven roasted chicken (sample C)
- Subway chicken strips (sample D)
- Tim Horton's grilled chicken (sample E)
- Wendy's grilled chicken (sample F)
--And they tested those samples against a real chef home cooked chicken (sample G)

https://s13.postimg.org/qerje631z/testing.png

## The investigation included a taste-testing panel,
where 4 individuals tasted chicken samples from the variety of fast food locations.
These are items which many of us eat on almost a daily basis,
but when the chicken item itself is stripped down to just the bare minimum and sitting on the plate,
you can tell by the looks of the taste-testers that they don't find it very appealing. Some of the samples they even looked reluctant to try at all,
but they tried them all.

https://s31.postimg.org/53c0ym77f/chickensamples.png

## As far as taste goes,
overall the real chef cooked chicken breast was said to taste the best.

# But What Story Does The DNA Tell?

The sample that was found to have the least amount of chicken DNA was sample D,
which was the grilled chicken strips from Subway. Their investigation estimates that it could contain 50 percent or less of real chicken material. Sample C,
the oven roasted grilled chicken breast from Subway only showed to mark a little higher than that,
say investigators. Making both of the Subway chicken samples fall to the bottom of their assessment.

The DNA results were allegedly sent to Subway,
but they declined to sit down and have a conversation with the journalists,
although they insinuate that they will be checking with suppliers to make sure that their product is up to the right standards.

It's assumed that much of the grilled chicken materials might be highly fabricated and likely restructured,
containing a number of different fillers. As it stands currently,
all of these fillers are approved by Health Canada to be included in food items in the market,
but dieticians and nutritionists have argued that we don't know the long term impacts that they might have on our health and body overall.

A number of the companies have responded to the claims and issued statements regarding their chicken products,
here: http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/blog/company-responses-chicken

Pics:
CBC
Sources:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/marketplace-chicken-fast-food-1.3993967",
"tags":["food",
"market",
"business",
"science",
"news" ,
"image":["https://s8.postimg.org/v764iu6s5/fbpost.png",
"https://img.youtube.com/vi/xd3Trr8Xrdc/0.jpg",
"https://s13.postimg.org/qerje631z/testing.png",
"https://s31.postimg.org/53c0ym77f/chickensamples.png" ,
"links":["https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd3Trr8Xrdc",
"http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/blog/company-responses-chicken",
"http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/marketplace-chicken-fast-food-1.3993967" ,
"app":"steemit/0.1",
"format":"markdown" "
