There are multiple reasons why a person decides to study medicine: fun,
social pressure,
family pressure,
to follow the footsteps of their parents and medical relatives,
love for the sciences or the most common reason \"to save lives\",
when choosing this career,
most of them have no idea of what is coming.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9\" src=\"http:\/\/clockworkpriya.vornix.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/March-234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"810\" \/>
\r\n\r\nThere are many hours of theoretical and abstract reading at least the first 2 years (In the curriculum on which my career was based) where you have no idea on how to cure a disease,
not even knowing how to detect it and your family and friends will ask you about their symptoms and expect you to prescribe medications,
because for them you are a doctor from the day you pass the college admission test.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14\" src=\"http:\/\/clockworkpriya.vornix.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/April-170.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>
\r\n\r\nSubsequently,
approximately in the 3rd year you start going to the hospital,
examine the patient and you learn how to make a medical history,
which is hard to master until the last year of the career,
because disguised as something simple,
deep down it's really complex to do a perfect medical history and the difficulty increases if the patient is unconscious or unable to speak,
which is quite common in some cases like Cerebrovascular disease,
it can be frustrating for the student at first but that feeling is perfectly normal,
since it happens to all the medical students.\r\n\r\nIn 4th year you start to rotate through the different areas,
which in my case were: surgery,
obstetrics,
internal medicine and pediatrics,
where you will love one of the areas to death,
while one of them or more,
will seem the most terrible of all,
but you will have to tolerate them for 2 months during the next 3 years,
the professors,
the nurses,
the resident doctors and fellow students will be a fundamental part of the experience in the hospital life,
the learning in these years will be much greater than the first 3 years of the career,
here you will learn to connect emotionally with patients,
detect their illness and indicate the appropriate treatment for them.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13\" src=\"http:\/\/clockworkpriya.vornix.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/100_4598.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2880\" height=\"2160\" \/>
\r\n\r\nAnother important part of this experience are the medical guards,
the first guard is always exciting as it indicates the beginning of a new stage,
but you can also be deeply marked by it,
in my case I saw a birth in my first guard,
which was strange and bloody and it was an image that I could not get out of my head for weeks,
it is physically exhausting since it is necessary to stay 12 to 24 hours without rest or little rest depending on the flow of patients,
but if at the end of the day everything ends up going well,
the feeling of satisfaction is incredible.\r\n\r\nIn the 6th year they leave you in charge of basically everything because they consider you a doctor,
which can be frightening at first,
but with effort and confidence it tends to be a rewarding experience,
especially when patients look you in the eyes and thank you from the heart.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12\" src=\"http:\/\/clockworkpriya.vornix.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/20171111_100334-e1532220859368.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1344\" height=\"2240\" \/>
\r\n\r\nThis career is one in which you will have mixed feelings of love-hate,
injustice,
satisfaction,
happiness and pain,
but at the end of the day if you really love it,
it will have been worth all the effort and sacrifice and you will always be ready for more,
putting always the patient's welfare as a priority,
often even above yours (not eating,
not sleeping,
not going to important events,
taking care of patients while being sick,
among other things).\r\n\r\nI hope you enjoyed this post,
see you son dear Friends of Steemit\r\n\r\n
<img class=\"alignnone
