I played my whole life until I was 18 and spent a lot of time at a professional club around some incredible players.

Last night for the first time I watched Barcelona FC live in the nou camp. I was looking forward to it but I have watched plenty of foreign football before or even watched plenty of Spanish football on tv before so I didn't expect to be impressed as much as I was. Being from the UK I always promote the English Premier League as being the best league in the world,
maybe it is but last night I watched a football team dominate a game and play football in a way I've not seen in the premier league before.

The Barcelona style of play was on full show last night,
the free-flowing attacking style of football. The incredible movement of their front four magicians,
the retention of possession. If Barcelona lose the ball they would ensure they gave Girona no outlet at all and 9 times out of 10 the ball was played long to Pique or Umtiti who swept up and began the next wave of the attack.

Was I amazed by Messi? Of course I was,
he’s considered as one of the greatest players to ever play the game but he even showed a class above Luis Suarez,
Philip Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele. He showed an ability to keep the ball far superior to even those world class players,
his ability to create opportunities for his teammates was incredible as well. The vision and weight of pass for penetrative balls through the lines of the Girona back four or even balls over the top of the defense. He is worshipped like a god at Barcelona and when he scores his name is chanted over and over.

The game started with 2 minutes of solid Barcelona possession with beautiful silky play and then suddenly Barcelona got caught on the break by Girona and Girona took the lead inside 3 minutes. What prevailed this was pure brilliance,
a 6-1 thrashing of a mid-table team who looked like schoolboys against Barcelona. It could have comfortably been 10 as well. Yes,
I can see weakness’s in Barcelona’s style and especially the way they defend,
but for a football purest there is nothing better to watch than this group of players apply their trade. I appreciate the small movements,
the little angles they create for one and other,
the pace and weight of pass and the sheer skill.

If you ever get the chance to visit the Nou Camp I would highly encourage you to do so,
just watching them on tv is very different to watch them live.",
"tags":["travel",
"sport",
"soccer",
"barcelona",
"football" ,
"image":["http://i64.tinypic.com/rrteah.jpg" ,
"app":"steemit/0.1",
"format":"markdown" " | vote |
|
