The light is still fully operational,
signaling an occulting red four seconds\u2014three red flashes,
one second of darkness.* We were able to see the red light flashing.\n\n*Built in 1858,
the lighthouse sits high atop a rugged granite shoreline,
making it one of the most scenic in New England and it is listed on the National Historic Register.*\n\nWe weren't able to enter the lighthouse as it is staffed by the Coast Guard and family,
who actually live in the lighthouse. The best way to get a glimpse of the water facing portion,
a bunch of boulder scrambling was needed. It was fun but a bit scary on the cliffs high above the water.\n\n\nThis one taken on solid ground\n\n![IMG_3771.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmRKGYUjhajwCPtruCVBrQvff41BV6EwaJyRK7YZGZf11k\/IMG_3771.jpg)\n\n\n![IMG_3779.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmZubsef6QQgZLmfBc8PWvvpgmSc3xxMfYfQNftTxwE7n3\/IMG_3779.jpg)\n\n![IMG_3780.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmQvZ5kwCbtHqS7WKDMsWcL6xFUQQFyFrZw2igNDme6RKN\/IMG_3780.jpg)\n\nWalking along path before climbing down the steep stairs to the boulders,
some pretty plants,
I think its rose hips.\n\n![IMG_3777.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmYFFhFYJNAdzEhHsLq7st7yqcn6Hf1pCvut31B3k87pip\/IMG_3777.jpg)\n\n------\n\nNow we're perched on a bunch of granite boulders,
good thing I have a decent lens to capture these as getting much closer wasn't in the cards for me (I'm not that brave).
