Please pardon me. Today is Friday,
19 June 2020 and I would like to share the brief history of the Efik people of Nigeria. Hope that you would enjoy it.\n![steemeducation logo.png (https:\/\/files.steempeak.com\/file\/steempeak\/voclab\/tjHy1W3b-steemeducation20logo.png)\n### Behavioural Objectives ###\nDuring and by the end of the lesson,
the pupils should be able to:\n1.read the comprehension passage fluently\n2.attempt answers to the questions in the passage\n3.identify difficult\/new words in the passage.\n_____________________________\nMeet the Efik speaking people of Nigeria. This Efik is a unique tribe that is found in the South South region of Nigeria. The Efik people are said to have moved from the Ancient Egypt during the blow of the first civilization. Thus,
the occupied a part of the Bakassi Penessula before Nigeria gained her independence. Among the Efik people are two states that share the same culture and tradition. These are Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State. This is so because the people of Akwa Ibom were living in Cross River State before she was cut off from Cross Rivers to be a State on itself. This was done on Thursday 23rd day of September 1987. \nOne thing that seem to be quite unique about the Efik people is that all the relations are regarded as father and mother or brother and sister. This in a normal setting doesn't sound normal because unlike the Western culture that attribute father or mother to ones' parents,
it is a very different thing in Efik community. Hence,
a male elder in a family who may not be related are called father and mother and children in the extended family are all brothers and sisters even though their fathers and mothers are different. This is just a tip of thee iceberg of the numerous discoveries about the Efik people of Nigeria.\n__________________________\n### Now attempt these questions. ###\n1.What is the suitable title for this comprehension passage?\n2.According to the passage,
the Efik people migrated from_____________________\n3.What is the unique thing about the Efik people?\n4.Why are the male members of the family referred to as fathers and mothers?\n5.When did the people of Akwa Ibom State gain her independence as a state?\n![image.png (https:\/\/files.peakd.com\/file\/peakd-hive\/voclab\/AipJM5tr-image.png)\n\n\nThank you for giving me your attention.
