The *campesinos*,<br> or local country folk,<br> are stuffed in alongside their purchases - at six to twelve people per vehicle. Upon arrival in the morning they had probably sold production,<br> picked up mail or packages and drank a *tinto*,<br> or coffee,<br> with a friend. \n\nhttps:\/\/coffeeaxistravel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Viterbo-Fonda-2.jpg\n\nDeep in the interior of Colombia in the midst of the Andes Mountains and just outside of Pereira,<br> lies the small pueblo,<br> or town of Viterbo in the Department of Caldas. This pueblo was founded by the children of nearby Apia,<br> Risaralda and many residents today still have relations up the mountain in that place. There's also a smattering of American,<br> German and French expats who draw their inspiration from the bright tropical colors,<br> the lazy noon heat and the comforting afternoon breeze. Tourists will enjoy typical Colombian cuisine,<br> fresh smoothies and cold beer. \n\nhttps:\/\/coffeeaxistravel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DSC04573-scaled.jpg\n\nAs a tourist destination,<br> visitors should plan to arrive around 9:00 am,<br> catch a jeep up to local panela and coffee farms,<br> special valley viewing platforms with a roof for shade and local's on hand to serve coffee or lemonade. Bring your camera for the breathtaking views. Plan to eat lunch in the pueblo,<br> wander over to Cameloc in the afternoon and drink a cocktail or cold beer across the street in the evening.
