What you did hear was controlled by the BBC suits,<br>who had no liking for this passing fad.\n\nYoung people in those days who wanted to hear their music all day long tuned into the pirate radio stations. My choice was Radio Caroline North,<br>which was anchored just off the Isle of Man.\n\nThese pirate stations were involved in a running battle with the authorities,<br>in the shape of the Postmaster General,<br>Mr.Antony Wedgwood Benn,<br>more commonly known as Tony Benn.\n\nEventually,<br>Radio Caroline was shut down and the musical arse fell out of my world. I listened to the final sign off when they played the Tremeloes song \"radio Caroline',<br>then there was radio silence.
