Just a reminder this is my personal favorites,
nothing objective here. With that out of the way,
on to the list!

Worst Games of 2019

**8) Umihara Kawase Fresh!**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/Ng13vGvX-image.png)

A game that,
at first,
is pretty competent and decent. This quickly fades away when you realize that there is little enemy variety,
very little variation in environments,
and just a very minimal amount of things you can actually do. Maybe as a ten-dollar game this may have been fine,
but for any higher price point than that the game just doesn't really have anything to offer.

**7.) Comit in Cosmo Knights Revenge**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/L4Ax6vF3-image.png)

Dash back and forth collecting stars to get points before reaching the end of the level. That is all,
with a couple of boss fights along the way. We are at a point where even the previous game felt like it had more to offer,
and even at the much lower price point of this one,
you feel like there isn't enough to justify the price.

The only way there is anything of value here is if you are a completionist and like to collect everything,
but even then there is so little to collect playing for a higher score and what not still doesn't' seem like it would be very rewarding here.

**6.) Nashbored**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/Ssr4pVxG-image.png)

This is a largely forgettable turn-based RPG. That is almost all there is to say about it. In fact,
it's a game that,
at first,
probably should have been bumped off the list orat a lower spot because by and large it's just not interesting.
But then there was the map where you had to avoid ghosts which you couldn't beat in battle,
they just auto killed you. And a couple of the rooms their patterns are entirely random and you have very little space,
so your ability to pass this area was based almost entirely on luck. I spent almost as much time in that area trying to get past the ghosts then I spent in the rest of the game.

Yes,
that is why this is higher up on the list. I don't care how petty that sounds.

**5.) Remilore**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/UcQdfpoW-image.png)

It was a thirty dollar game with almost no content that was worth anything. This is starting to feel like a running theme on this list,
doesn't it? What you do get is very basic Action RPG combat and a lot of uninteresting customization options. It was hard enough to get a full review of this game when I played it because there was so little to talk about.

**4) Yoshi's Crafted World**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/3DYCEDdj-image.png)

The same thing as previous entries apply here,
but at the same time you do get more content then they do,
so why is this higher on the list? Well,
this is higher because it just feels like a lackluster downgrade of the previous Yoshi Game,
Wooly World,
which was great. It was a full-price game at launch,
which seems wrong. It may not be as objectively bad as some previous entries on the list,
but because it's a Yoshi's game with similar themes to Wooly World it leaves a worse taste in my mouth.

**3) Wolf's Fury**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/2H4N6jDv-image.png)

For one thing,
we are once again at the exact same place as all other games on this list,
and is exactly shitty for the same reason all the other games are bad,
and I feel like I probably could have just rolled all these up into one single spot. However,
Wolf's Fury actually does have something about it to make it worse!

Every encounter can pretty much be handled in the exact same way,
just attack relentlessly because everything in this game can be stun-locked. There are a couple of exceptions,
but not nearly enough to matter. So it's probably a good thing this game wasn't longer,
cause it probably would have made it worse.

On the bright side the next couple games I can actually make entirely new complaints about!

**2) Super Neptunia RPG**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/0hxDPNqN-image.png)

Here we have a game whose very premise is 2D games Vs. 3D games. Your characters are all 'Goddesses' of an era where 2D reigned supreme,
but the game just seems to reference and feel like the 3D RPG's and not the 2D. I could go on,
but the game does a terrible job at sticking to its own themes.

Combat I barely paid attention to and still,
easily beat it,
I beat it without even using certain powering up mechanics or even knowing what most status effects did. Any game you can beat without really knowing what you are dong gets on my shit list pretty quickly.

I could go on,
but this is going to turn into a full review if I do that. Any other year this came out,
there is a really good chance this would have been the worst game of the year. But somehow.... somehow we got something worse.

**1) Brave Battle Saga**

![image.png (https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/dlstudios/DsV4rqL8-image.png)

I hate that this is my pick for worst game,
because it is the most fascinating game released this year. This is a port of a game originally released in the mid to late nineties in China. It was not a commercial success,
and it was an unlicensed release to boot.

Eventually,
however,
it ended up in the hands of Piko Interactive as part of a bundle of IP's they purchased,
and since a fan translation existed they worked with them in order to port and release this game onto Steam this year. I would have loved to follow the path this game traveled to finally get a US release after all this time,
but I never got a response from a few people,
so I could never follow up on it.

That said the game is pretty much irredeemable. Firstly,
it's a blatant knock off of Breath of Fire. The game is so busted many accessories don't even work,
a problem that existed on the original,
something I found out looking up let'splays of people playing the game when it was still just a Fan Translation. And every Boss Fight just felt the same with no real variation.
The story is boring,
and at no point do any of the characters seem at all interesting. It's like they took Breath of Fire and sucked out everything that made those games good.Even the art design,
while seeming to try to invoke the same style of that series is just subpar at best. I can't think of a single good thing to say about the game,
other than how happy I am that even strange obscure relics like this have a chance to be rescued and preserved.

Not one of my more interesting lists,
but this year really didn't give me a lot of interesting bad games to talk about.
