We have a beautiful day unfolding here today,
especially away from the immediate shore and a developing sea breeze. Even at the coast it'll be a nice day for early March,
but the real pot of gold will be in interior parts of NYC,
NJ,
and even parts of Long Island.

SATELLITE

Look for any lingering morning clouds to dissipate and sunshine will become a dominant feature today. A steady and sometimes gusty WSW wind profile will help boost temps into the 65-70 range,
and don't be surprised if a few areas west of Manhattan,
and downtown Brooklyn,
break 70.

The same winds that'll help interior spots will help hinder the shorelines,
especially south-face shores and the east end of Long Island. Expect a gorgeous day,
but most immediate shorelines will only be in the 55-60 range,
then creeping up as you go over the bridges and get away from the ocean influence.

REGIONAL RADAR

For tomorrow,
our system bringing the very mild conditions will begin its approach. Expect morning sunshine,
afternoon clouds,
and the chance of some scattered showers late. We'll have enough sunshine and dry conditions to pull off 60-65 degree temps,
but things will get a little windy; and again,
much cooler at the shore.

The steadiest rain will come in overnight tomorrow and be long gone by sunrise Wednesday. Look for a light NW breeze,
decreasing clouds,
and mid 50's.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Mid 50's continue with clouds and sun Thursday,
then another weak front heads in Friday with the slight chance of a shower. Things "cool off" over the weekend,
but we remain in the 50-55 range with breezy conditions.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

Our active pattern continues across the Country,
with most systems weakening as they get to the east coast. This is typical during March,
and we remain on this cool-mild-showery-cool regimen. There are no features in the long range to suggest we're in for any late season,
big snows.

The average temperatures this period in March are around 44-46 degrees,
so even when we cool off to the 50's,
we're still above average for this time of year. Water temperatures are slightly above normal,
and steady 50's with decent amounts of sunshine will only help boost those ocean temperatures more. Eventually it all evens out when the May/June marine layer hinders extreme ocean warming,
but current/future sea temps,
make it hard for late season snows in our area.

The past several seasons when we got March/April snows,
conditions were setting up now for that scenario later. It is not the case this year,
and as of this moment,
we are gently going into spring as gently as March can possibly do it.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes,
should a storm be threatening,
please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.

Posted from my blog with SteemPress : https://www.nycweathernow.com/april-pays-nyc-a-march-visit-today/

",
"community":"steempress",
"app":"steempress",
"image":["https://www.nycweathernow.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Cover39.jpg" ,
"tags":["bronx",
"brooklyn",
"cold",
"cool",
"dry" ,
"canonical_url":"https://www.nycweathernow.com/april-pays-nyc-a-march-visit-today/" "
