It was built in 18th century,
which will made those historians among us question his name,
because Fall of Roman Empire was at 5th century :)\n\nFor those romantic souls,
a little disappointment; no,
Romans did not hide in Belgrade for centuries. Roman Well in Belgrade Fortress was built by Austrians while they ruled in Belgrade and name is most likely connected with their intentions to be considered as successors of Romans.\n\nIt's not only mystery around Roman Well. It is 3 meters wide and 51 meters deep with two spiral staircases which lead to it's depths. Water in well is extremely clean,
and source of water is yet unknown. Also,
real depth of well is still part of mysteries and stories around old Belgrade fortress.\n\n![734646_10200408691440326_509682309_n.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmZVcfd5Xwd41iqbKTP3WrgJQsGZLC3tT2D3UKhKyYUQA4\/734646_10200408691440326_509682309_n.jpg)\n*Gates of Roman Well,
Kalemegdan Fortress,
Belgrade,
Serbia*\n---\n*Canon PowerShot SX50 HS (vivid filter enabled),
ISO-80,
f\/5.6,
1\/125 sec*",
"json_metadata":" \"tags\":[\"photography\",
\"photooftheday\",
\"belgrade\",
\"serbia\",
\"travel\" ,
\"image\":[\"https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmZVcfd5Xwd41iqbKTP3WrgJQsGZLC3tT2D3UKhKyYUQA4\/734646_10200408691440326_509682309_n.jpg\" ,
\"app\":\"steemit\/0.1\",
\"format\":\"markdown\" " |
