In our walk we saw a very long line during the festivities we saw a shrine called Sto. Christo de Longos. People falling in line to say a prayer or ask for a petition. Everyone has desires to be fulfilled it maybe a job,
health,
wealth or love. People grab the opportunity if there is a chance for their prayers to be answered. When times are tough people tend to hold on to a glimmer of hope and when life is going your way we should never forget to give thanks.

![2.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmbv1MWb3i5DXBbi7392wJKyf1sQb4exExLyhpMuko4c3H/2.JPG)

Buddhism and Christianity together in this place which is the oldest China town in the world. It is beautiful sight to see how locals,
Chinese and Filipino- Chinese comes together here to pray.

![3.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmTzdunfZCHEgHNg6iP4HLuCDEdTdYfM1H85FpwTatuCDW/3.JPG)

To say a prayer you would need to light up 1,
3 or 9 incense sticks. I do not know why it needs to be in that number but I see the people in line following the numbers suggested. After taking your sticks there is a donation box on the side to help maintain the site.

![4.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmWgjhdfU5D1B48VUS4rgj11PCoHmT7Miea3Y63bWvK5pm/4.JPG)

If you have a specific petition or a wish you would light up an incense or candle and say the _**Sto. Doing so would give you an answer to your request either yes,
no or try again. Two blocks are thrown and it is a yes for your request if one block is showing the front and the other is showing the back.

![6.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmdRPYQGLBYsNykPW99jspLt2zceQTkq9mYaPKaF6ELjuV/6.JPG)

People say a quick prayer and then go on their way. Probably if there is not much people some would pray longer. But during the festivities each just spent a couple of seconds and then moved on to give a chance to everyone.

![7.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmatT28CZcqgyCqHTd18wRxKqpFQGvYsxz8HWxwooubWK5/7.JPG)

The container for the incense gets filled up very easily and the caretaker takes the sticks and places them on a large can to let the burning fishing,
With all those incense the scent fills the air around us and the smokes gives out some sort of festive feeling to add to the celebration.

![8.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmbCiypcytcA6pa9fwLhQgyqw1qjATqQwSV4eDF1ve2b7q/8.JPG)

![9.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmUJgBNwa9kLWL7AELFmF4RM9GbDKYASN9qybsMqAVKmHt/9.JPG)

I am not a Catholic nor a Buddhist but I have high respect for the religion and I find the practice very fascinating which enriches our culture. I hope you enjoyed what I shared today and looking forward to share more of our culture.

Thank you and if I may say we all need to say a little prayer and give thanks for the blessings the we receive each day.

![10.JPG (https://steemitimages.com/DQmZwvRKiyTdq2RLomC3b73UtcgcFbxpmqpqnrCZ1846jWL/10.JPG)
#####
Please vote for @steemgigs as witness by going to this link [witness (https://steemit.com/~witnesses)

#####
or

#####
If you would prefer have @surpassinggoogle as a voting proxy to choose for you.
Give him a follow to witness an extraordinary person in this platform.

####
Follow @bayanihan where the impossible becomes possible thru unity
and have a glimpse of awesome content from the Philippines.

###
All photos are original and taken with
Lumix GX85 and 12-32 mm

![Snake new 2.jpg (https://steemitimages.com/DQmWwY7QG9BYjSHiMabe8u4t86kyj877QdnXA1jQNn1Fbib/Snake%20new%202.jpg)

[ (https://steemit.com/qurator/@qurator/qurator-2-0-update-post-guidelines-or-registration-details-or-tier-changes)

![watersnake101.png (https://steemitimages.com/DQmUSMkYkQ75gNHdui156F7c1qUGc6uKnVzJQwRhMwMUcJ7/watersnake101.png)
",
"tags":["religion",
"philippines",
"culturevulture",
"photography",
"blog" ,
"links":[ ,
"app":"steemauto/0.01",
"format":"markdown" " |
