| comment | | "parent_author":"",<br>"parent_permlink":"writing",<br>"author":"riciusfischer",<br>"permlink":"not-so-funny-stories-about-being-an-inconsiderate-asshole-second-issue-of-a-long-collection",<br>"title":"Not-so-funny stories about being an inconsiderate asshole: second issue of a long collection.",<br>"body":"# <center> The Alien Nationalistic Jerk <\/center>\n## Chapter two of two\n*Being the imprudent jerk that I am I'll probably revisit this in the future anyways*\n#\n![21979565_10154885423962371_1256962433_n.jpg (https:\/\/steemitimages.com\/DQmZ6HfnRuHeN1g32wkA5Q57akiw7NKxfPcaz9fZgebn4r1\/21979565_10154885423962371_1256962433_n.jpg)\n#\n#\nSo I had just gotten my cool new flag,<br> and we continued to walk around sightseeing through the city. \n\nSince I had just gotten to my new home country and I was holding one of its national emblems on my very own hands,<br> I decided to do it the proper way; like my army veteran father had taught me so many years ago: I took the \u2018flying\u2019 part of the flag and gripped it in my fist around the pole in order to not allow the flag to touch the ground or cover anyone,<br> and I wasn\u2019t waving it around like a toy while I walked around town\u2026\n\nI had just gotten to my new home country and ought to treat its national emblems with respect\u2026 Holy Molly,<br> I did not know what was coming at me!\n\nI was walking around with the flag in my hand laying it low,<br> and then,<br> I started feeling odd\u2026 like kind of alone,<br> but surrounded\u2026 watched\u2026 everyone all of the sudden had increased their distance to us a couple of yards\u2026 ooook - I thought - I must look funny,<br> or smell funny,<br> or have something in my teeth\u2026 as we kept walking through the city\u2019s center,<br> what at first was just some more personal space started being accompanied with funny looks,<br> which then turned to \u2018dirty\u2019 looks - and I don\u2019t mean in the \u2018bedroom eyes\u2019 sense \u2013 which then were quickly followed by some looks of outright hostility. \n\nBy then I was starting to fucking wonder whether I was in some sort of Inception parody\u2026 even some middle aged frankly ugly and disheveled German women quasi yelled something at me with the word *marschieren* in it\u2026 to this day,<br> I have no idea what she said to me\u2026 I awkwardly pretended that she wasn\u2019t talking to me,<br> thing which,<br> to my surprise,<br> actually worked and the crone walked away in a different direction.\n \nBy then my brilliant deduction powers had already allowed me to associate the increased hostility of the people surrounding me,<br> not to the reaction of Ellen Page\u2019s subconscious mind to my presence,<br> but to the very flag of the country I was in,<br> which,<br> I was carrying in the most respectful way possible\u2026\n \n*What the actual fuck did I do wrong this time???*\n\nSo already having enough fun from teasing the Huns around us,<br> and starting to fear for our personal safety,<br> my wife proceeded to explain to me the aversion of the majority of Germans to anything even remotely resembling or in any way related to nationalism,<br> whether real or imaginary\u2026 \n\n\u201cBut this isn\u2019t a Nazi flag\u201d I replied still thinking about being in someone\u2019s dreamscape,<br> while expecting to be stabbed in the gut by Marion Cotillard at any moment... \n\nI might be an asshole but I am not a *clueless* asshole.
