There are literally more than 4 billion people in the world,
and each one is a undoubtedly a unique individual. By unique I mean one of a kind.

Anyone or anything that is unique has no equal. Everyone is a unique person. There may be many people who resemble you. But,
no one else on earth is exactly like you. Even the so-called identical twins are not really identical. Identical twins maybe almost impossible to tell apart. Notwithstanding,
there are differences. For example,
no two people in the world have exactly the same finger prints.

###
Getting to know yourself.

It is important for one to get to know themselves. As an individual,
each of us has a unique set of ***strengths*** and ***weaknesses.*** One’s strengths are their abilities,
and one’s good qualities. One’s weaknesses are things they don’t do as well,
or enjoy less.

I believe there are no ***”rights”*** or ***”wrongs”*** involved in identifying one’s strengths and weaknesses. For instance,
it is just as ***”right”*** to be skilled in ***carpentry*** as to be skilled in ***medicine.*** It is just as ***”right”*** to have the ability to succeed in sales as to skilled as a teacher.

It is with no doubt that people who enjoy the greatest success in their *careers* are those who make the best use of their strengths. A career,
for those who may not be certain about it,
is a course a person follows through his or her working life. A career on the on the other hand is usually associated with a particular type of occupation or field of work.

Due to the varying choices one can have,
some people have more than one career. For instance,
a skilled mechanic might attend night school and become an attorney. It is not unusual today for workers to change occupations midway through their working careers.

An occupation change may also affect the way a person lives. If so,
it is said that the person has begun a new career.
# Just as it is,
making important your strengths,
so it is making the ability to recognize your weaknesses. Knowing and accepting your limitations helps you to get along better ant to avoid problems of failures.

###
How to find your strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths and weaknesses are not limited to any one part of your life. They are involved in each of the basic areas that describe you as an individual. Some of the basic areas that may describe you as an individual are;

1. Body

2. Mind

3. Personality

One’s bodily strengths and weaknesses definitely depend upon his or her physical makeup. One’s mind is their mentality and their *personality* is the collection of all their *emotions* and their *behavioral tendencies.* An ***emotion*** is just a feeling while a “behavioral tendency” is the manner in which a person usually responds to a change or situation. One’s personality also includes their attitudes and habits.

Also one’s personality can be difficult to judge and understand because it involves their feelings. Physical strengths and weaknesses can be measured easily and accurately because these can be easily identified. People’s mental abilities also can be tested with accuracy but their personalities are more difficult to measure or judge.

###
Physical strengths and weaknesses.

There are a number of conclusions one can draw about his or her body,
regardless of one’s age or size. Some of these conclusions involve comparisons between oneself and others one’s age.

Comparisons can be made of height,
weight,
and color of hair and eyes,
for example. These are obvious physical ***characteristics.*** A characteristic is a physical quality such as being tall.

These kinds of comparisons usually are made among individuals. There are no ***”right”*** or ***”wrong”*** physical characteristics,
only averages based on comparing large numbers of people. For example,
a six-foot-tall person may seem like a giant in the company of short people. That some six-footer,
however,
would appear quite short in the midst of a professional basketball team.

Such comparisons depend on each person’s situation. It is # “good” # for a basketball player to be tall as it is # “good” # for a jockey to be short and light. Neither condition (being tall or short) has any value in and by itself.

What is important is that is one able to recognize these physical characteristics? One’s physical capabilities help determine the kind of activities for which they are suited. A small,
“frail” person,
for example,
would not succeed at a job requiring the lifting of heavy weights.

A frail person is one who is physically weak. However,
that frail individual might excel at precise tasks that demand a light,
delicate touch.

Your physical skills or limitations have a major effect on your life. Your physical characteristics may influence your job and career decisions. Your choices of *leisure activities* may also depend on your physical capabilities.

####
Mental strengths and Weaknesses.

One’s mind,
like one’s body is,
has certain characteristics. You may probably have strong mental capabilities in some areas and less in others. And this is totally normal. It is only rare individuals who excel in all forms of mental activity.

Some people are good at ***abstract*** reasoning. Freedom and justice are some of the abstract ideas you may want to consider. They cannot be identified through the physical senses of right,
hearing,
touch,
taste or smell.

On the other hand,
other people are strong at ***concrete reasoning. *** This deals with experience with actual things o events. People who are good at concrete reasoning enjoy working with ***specific or tangible*** things because they can be placed in a specific or particular category.

Abstract reasoning skills are important to people in occupational areas such as law,
journalism,
education,
and the physical sciences while concrete reasoning is useful to people such as farmers,
dentists,
mechanics,
plumbers and assembly line workers.

Some people such as artists,
painters,
sculptors and illustrators require a combination of these skills.

###
Personality strengths and weaknesses.

People have personality ***traits.*** A trait is a quality that distinguishes you as a person. Your personality is the characteristics that describe you.

There are a number of personality traits that relate directly directly to career considerations which describe a person’s general abilities and interests. The important thing is for you to understand and identify your personality traits.

The better you understand yourself,
the better equipped you will be to make decisions about jobs and careers. Personal and job related characteristics include;

1. Realistic

2. Conventional

3. Enterprising

4. Investigative

5. Artistic

6. Social

#
1. Realistic.

A realistic person is who enjoys working with tangible objects. These people have realistic tendencies. If your hobbies include activities such as building models,
sewing,
or agricultural projects. Mechanics,
agriculture,
and construction ***trades**(craft) are occupational areas for which realistic individuals tend to be well suited.

A trade or craft is an occupation that requires manual or mechanical skills. Construction trades include the occupations of carpenter,
plumber,
and electrician. Other trades include auto mechanics,
machinists,
welders,
printers,
and many other industrial occupations.

#
2. Conventional.

If one enjoys organized,
orderly activities,
their personality includes the ***conventional*** trait. People with conventional personalities tend to enjoy office occupations for example accountants,
bookkeepers,
and secretarial workers.

Conventional personalities are also well suited for occupations involving highly structured work situations,
examples which may include,
the military service,
fire fighting,
and the police.

#
3. Enterprising.

An enterprising person usually is ***ambitious*** and ***energetic.*** An ambitious person is one who has an active desire to succeed or to accomplish tasks. These are people who usually enjoy taking charge in group situations and also usually find it easy to convince others to share their points of view or opinions.

Some of these characteristics are important for career areas such as sales and business management,
and careers such as law.

#
4. Investigative.

These people usually like to learn what makes things work. Investigative people also often chose careers in science,
mathematics,
or engineering.

#
5. Artistic.

An artistic person is one skilled in activities,
or arts,
that require imagination. Some of these arts may include music,
creative writing,
painting,
and acting. So,
these people often build careers in the fields of journalism,
entertainment,
music,
or art.

#
6. Social.

A social person enjoys working with other people. These people often enjoy the company of other people and often chose careers in teaching,
nursing,
social work,
or politics.",
"tags":["wafrica",
"uganda",
"education",
"steemit",
"life" ,
"image":["https://steemitimages.com/DQmaQyFnRjFQGMLB4iLDXnY1fSFz14Frs4EwAqzeXBU4a3v/462646_v1.jpg" ,
"app":"steemit/0.1",
"format":"markdown" " |
