Have they forgotten me?”\n\nNo, not at all… Please calm down! We still haven’t forgotten you (yet). It is just that we have been so busy working that we forgot blogs even existed for a second but don’t worry, sense came back to us and we rediscovered blogging and long story short, here I am., to entertain by telling you the highlights of the last few weeks at SpotShot.\n\nI know it has been a while since I would like to start by telling you that we attended the Tech Open Air in Berlin. Very cool event, which took place roughly one month ago, but it doesn’t matter you still would like to know about our impressions of the conference… right?\n\nI know you did! Well on the first day of the conference it was me against the world. I was lonely at the beginning but that changed because the event was full of interesting people so I tried to talk to as many as I could in-between talks. I sat most of the first day of the conference at the stage featuring the seemingly hottest topic in the planet at the moment: b l o c k c h a i n. Worth mentioning is the talk by Andy Bromberg, president of Coinlist, in which I could hear some insights on ICOs (initial coin offerings). I sat there for hours listening to talks and taking notes! It was fun to learn about the ideas of some creative startups using blockchain for various applications in fields that I had no idea that the blockchain technology is been used. I am just thrilled abut what is coming in the next years, when we will start seeing more of this game-changing technology in our daily life! And after the talks, before the end, of course… I went to the “house of tech” to expand my horizons and amuse myself walking around and informing myself about the hottest tech startups and also well established companies. I took the opportunity to network a pitch SpotShot to a couple of other attendees. It was nice to get some feedback on my pitching skills and also one or two ideas that could help SpotShot in the future, cheers for that people at TOA.\n\nOn the second day of the conference we attended as a Team. Salim, COO at SpotShot, and Jakob, Lead designer at Spotshot, came along. The perk on going to conferences like the TOA as a team is that we could discuss about the talks right after the speaker walked down the stage. Thanks for coming along Salim and Jakob!\n\nSo, what did we discuss about in-between talks you may ask yourself? Well mostly, about how we could implement some technologies or ideas at SpotShot and also about what we could learn from the startups that were presenting, some of their pitching skills or how the talk was structured or even the way the speakers talked… We also had some ideas for possible partnerships in the future of SpotShot.\n\nBut personally, let me tell you that the highlight of the second day was sitting there at the Funkhaus Berlin and listening to the talk of a company called “What3Words”. Really innovative location service idea! Go ahead and google them after finishing reading this blogpost and if you can, try to find a video of a pitch from them, it was very entertaining!\n\nAfter the talks, also as I did the day before, we went to the house of tech. But this time we spent most of the time talking to people at the “Startup Alley” which was on the second floor of the house of tech. It was pretty cool… 80+ Startups exhibiting in a long hallway. As we walked down the hallway we had cool Ideas to our right and some more cool ideas to our left, you can imagine… paradise for displaying your business idea and also to be exposed to other businesses.\n\nThis is Salim´s ecosystem you know, as soon as we walked in there he was gone. It took him no longer than five seconds to start a conversation with another startup. Cheers to Salim, very impressive to watch you work! And well, Jakob and me sticked together for a while in the startup alley and talked for a long time (well at least 5 minutes, that is long in my world…) to the people fro “Kiron”. Which was very inspiring! “Kiron” is an NGO that puts digital solutions to use enabling refugees access to a higher education. Really nice project! If you can, go to their website and find out how you can support them.\n\nSo, what else have we been up to?\n\nWell we have been pitching SpotShot a lot. Very important, Salim went to have breakfast at the Bethaus Berlin, a co-working space. And the reason why that is important is because he got to present SpotShot to an audience with a lot of experience in the startup scene in Berlin. A special Shout-out to our Lead Developer, Marcel and Jakob! They are both working non-stop for us to be able to launch our alpha version very soon… Also thanks to Tyrone, Recruiter at SpotShot. Who has been working very hard behind the scenes preparing for our alpha launch and also scouting events that we all can attend to! Cheers guys!\n\nHey and what is Mersad doing?\n\nWell our CEO is not an exception to what I have told you about other team members… Mersad is also 24/7 focused on SpotShot, and working ultra hard. In the last few weeks, he did many, many different things. He worked on our token model and token use and also worked along Salim on possible partnerships and investors. Plus he has been perfecting our pitchdeck with Jakob, and let me tell you, the slides are looking very sexy!\n\nOh and how could I forget, the hackathon! Most of our team members got together two weeks ago to work intensely on SpotShot during the weekend. Empower children. Digital needs to be connected to the real world in order to not isolate people. “Poverty is no excuse”. Konstantin Gerlach (strategy consultant) on digital leadership. „how to lead in a digital world“....team responsibility, virtual co-working, share knowledge, transparent working. All in all it was an inspiring and nice start into the week. \n\nImpressions Day 1: \n\nThe digital revolution is there but it is chaotic. There is a digital elite (big corporates) that push it forward thanks to endless resources. Smaller companies try not to miss out the wave. But this fear is gold to service providers with no clear value add for customers. They just promise „The most efficient big Data analytics“ or „AI for your business intelligence“ without being able to name a clear value proposition based on real use cases and real numbers. Time will show how that will develop. Also there is a difference between companies of the German „Mittelstand“ and startups. While startups are born out of a digital mindset, Mittelstand companies face the challenge to digitalize - and it seems to be a long and painful process.  As there is more money to get from them, providers focus and tickle their balls starting a „digitization for dummies“ communication approach rather then  focusing on the most innovative players in the game: The startups. \n\nImpressionable Day 2:\n\nA lot is about IoT in the startup space and big data in the corporate space. These technologies seem to be the cloud computing of 2010 promising holistic adaption. \nData is key, but the challenge is not to develop data based business models, but to be compliant to the laws like data protection and data storage while doing so. The governmental handling of data, tech and startups in a broader sens is somehow outdated. The reason might be that due to the political context, the people in charge are overwhelmed. Great stuff, no idea about the quality though but I heard from a lot of people that the quality reached western standards. There are a lot of small cool gimmicks like wireless chargers, next gen. Earphones and e mobility devices. The problem is branding and sales. It will be hard to build a quality brand out of china.\nHuawei is pushing hard in cloud computing and business solutions. \n\nImpressions Day 4: \n\nThink like a corporate. Hire professionals. I heard these sentences quiet often during the last days. Basically there is a wave of „professionalism“ while bootstrapping. This starts with influencers hiring sales people for their channels and goes on with higher funding rounds of startups in order to grow teams faster. \n\nBig companies do actually use influencers a lot. Sixt for example has the Sixt Moments program. They also have an own Salesforce platform and influencer database. \n\nSalim.",

      "body": "Welcome to our new series: #SpotShotEvents\n\nThe #SpotShotFamily is going to be present at many events from now on. SO STAYED TUNED, we are going to blog about the cool stuff we learn and the awesome people we meet! I work primarily on the esthetics and the beauty of every Screen that is shown at the surface of the SpotShot app. Summarized, I design what the users see. You might think then, an AWS (Amazon Web Services) Summit would not be the right event for someone like me. I mean, what does a Designer understand when a Speaker is talking about topics like RDS, EC2, Mongo DB ? Maybe as much as a developer understands about CMYK, Typography and Layers?
\nWell in my case, an event like the AWS Summit actually makes a lot of sense! So let me tell you a bit about my background and  also my experience with AWS in the past. 
When I started, as a Freelance Webdesigner after leaving my company q23.media I was desperately searching for my first customer. And I found that customer in dr-rosefid.de for whom I developed a branding update and designed the new website, including a Magento shop system. But I also jumped directly into a “suicidal” idea: i would host the system by myself! And of course, on AWS as I heard so much about it. So I created an AWS account, started a EC2 and set up my first server with apache, sql and all that stuff after long nights watching tutorials. Cutting the story short: it was a mess… but I did not give up! I went on for one year and learned many new things and committed hundreds of mistakes. For example, I moved the database from sql on the EC2 to a separated RDS that made screenshots every 30 minutes, that before I had just lost all data from the past 2 days for the company… *ugh* my bad! That is why I digged deeper and deeper into the possibilities of AWS. And in the end…it burned me down. Honestly, I am not a DevOp as I wished I was, but at least I tried, and learned enough to understand what’s being told here on this great event. I love innovation and i admire AWS for their constant new updates. A keynote at AWS is quite almost as sexy as a keynote from Apple, and don’t forget, I am a designer… *blush*\n\n![Spotshot AWS blog 2.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmct94aJU3JnuSNYWwNibRunJmgarkVwT9Gocq2n1dDD9h/Spotshot%20AWS%20blog%202.JPG)\n\nSo let me go back to the first day of the Summit and tell you how I experienced it...\n\nDAY 1:\nI am sitting in the top Terrasse melting in the sun during my break. Its quite hot outside today, but inside the STATION Berlin, where the AWS Summit has settled, there is a nice air conditioned temperature. Marcel, our Lead Developer, and I have had an interesting first part of the day so far, starting with the AWS keynote introduced by their CEO and followed by their CTO. The stage „Kuno“ is the biggest and it has been beautifully set up with these glowing water containers that somehow every other event or club in Berlin is using at the moment. The big topic seems to be AWS Cloud 9 and Machine Learning. Over the whole keynote I smash keywords in our SpotShot Slack channel, points like: - AWS Sagemaker: which is all about Machine Learning, - Deep Lens: a camera that analyzes and recognizes its environment and takes action, S3 Select: a tool that stores the data on AWS and the Achieve Drastic Performance increases up to around 400% (which would be very useful when it comes to storing our app data) and so on. After the 2 hour long keynote, I went straight to get a coffee and  proceed to check out the Startup Area where Marcel was listening to a session about Microservices. The startup area hosted around 12 startups. Each had a small booth presenting their apps and platforms. Many “techy” like startups, but also some Startups that specialized in marketing and ERP solutions like Orderbird or Liveintent. I talked to some and we discussed how SpotShot could be integrated into their projects. It was great because I received a lot of feedback and many impressions of what could be possible. 
Day 1 at the AWS Summit ended  then with a networking session. A lot of beer and salty finger food, plus interesting people like Deep Goshn from AWS Business Applications that asked me a lot about our SpotShot challenge app. 
And finally, back home I finished the day by uploading all image impressions and writing down some notes for this article.\n\n![Spotshot AWS blog 3.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQ55qHKJAcdZy8geCZ9Z4CXEE5mU2qDtk7DjXm1e7U6xs/Spotshot%20AWS%20blog%203.JPG)\n\nDAY 2:\nOn day 2 Mersad (CEO at SpotShot) joined me instead of Marcel who had some code to crunch. As I knew the location already I gave Mersad a quick tour of the AWS Summit. Then we joined the „Day 2 Keynote“ over 2 hours, this time we sat in the front row. Various topics were discussed like: Better Security and Performance with AWS Config, Nitro was also a big issue this time. They talked a lot about it. But also the official announcement of VMWare Cloud partnering up with AWS was important and largely presented by the CEO of VMWare. 
After that, I ran to get my first coffee of the day. By the way, the food was for free and it was tasty.. they had a lot of those food stands…plus they provided vegetarian food. Great stuff, good Job AWS!
Our next stop, was again the Startup Area. Only this time we took a tour. The guy from AWS introduced himself and the told us the complete AWS story. New for me, was that AWS emerged from Amazon because they had too much server capacity and they were only using that amount of capacity at Christmas time. So, they started to rent their server and implement service by service. And so, AWS was born. Well done! *blush again* After that story, the tour was quite boring to be honest, so left and went to the stage to listen to some VC’s that were speaking in the Startup Area. They told us about the DO’S and DON’TS for approaching VC’s and investors, in the middle they had a girl from a startup that had just got funding moments before. When it came to the Q&A ,I wanted Mersad to ask for their opinion on Crypto and Blockchain, but the guy before us in line to ask the question “stole” our question. And the answer was quite defensive and funny. In the end, the VC said that he just hoped for Blockchain and Crypto to go away… yeah, no wonder!
We actually spent quite the whole time in the Startup Area. In our continued effort to move forward with our project we started a four day hackathon today with the whole team. I just wanted to give you a quick update on what happened so far. In our last update we told you about our website and social communities going live. The planing and execution of the founding took a few weeks and there was a lot of back and forth with the notary office. Every clause in the contract needed to be discussed and carefully reviewed. The lawyer mentioned that they never had a founding with six co-founders. We were their first which was quite interesting. The paperwar is still going on as we wait for our tax numbers and some documents from the district court. Luckily opening a bank account was way faster. That just took a few days. Our app will contain gamification elements to keep the users hooked to the platform. Malte Behrman is a professor at BBW Hochschule Berlin and also does lectures at Game Academy Berlin. He served for over ten years as General Secretary of the European Game Developer Federation. He therefor has great insights into what gamification elements work well to keep our user interested and hooked over a longer period of time. \n\nJoshua Scigala is the founder of Vaultoro a crypto to gold exchange. In case of crypto market uncertainty you can switch to gold keep your portfolio stable instead of selling to unstable fiat currencies. Joshua is one of the early birds in the crypto space and is well known as a top expert in this space. His insights will help us tremendously bringing out our own token and sailing safely through the dangerous seas of the crypto space. \n\nThe contact to investors is important and we are happy to have Max Narr on board. He previously worked as an lawyer at Baker McKenzie but is now responsible for the investor relations at IBU-tec a german company that is developing materials and processes in a sustainable way. Max was assigned to bring the company to the stock market through an IPO and succeeded in doing so. Finding the right investors and establishing a professional connection will be key to the success of our company and we feel that Max is a great addition to our advisory board. \n\nAs a startup it is hard to create and follow your own business strategy. We are delighted that Jonas Toutaoui decided to join us as advisor. Jonas is working as consultant for McKinsey & Company a globally well known and respected company that offers high level management consulting. With over 14 thousand consultants world wide it is one of the leading companies in it's field. With Jonas at our side we feel well prepared for the future. \n\nThe fast and precise execution of a project demands good strategic planing and is not to be taken lightly. Everything stands or falls by how fast and well you can deliver a project. Grigorii Gerdzhikov is a german officer in the Bundeswehr, TED speaker and startup advisor. He will help us in the strategic planing of our projects,  how to organize ourself and how to avoid getting lost in microstasks. With their help we have\n\n - A better overview of investors and partners needs\n - How to focus our app development to launch faster\n - How to organize ourself better\n - How to plan our tasks according to our mid term goals so that we don't get lost in microtasks\n\nWe are really grateful for the advise and insights we receive from our advisory board. All the feedback we receive is constantly implemented in the daily work we put into SpotShot. Some requests resulted in a timeout with HTTP Error 503, it was unpredictable to say which one will fail – that happened even before our caching engine. This was pretty embarrassing when presenting it to someone you want to pitch to. We did a lot of testing and determined that it must be a DNS issue. The domain provider pointed their fingers at the webhoster even though it was obviously not their fault. Before launching the website on spotshot.io we had tested the website under a different domain on our webhosters servers and it ran just fine. They are an ICO startup accelerator based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Iconiq Lab held an event in WeWork at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Everyone in the crypto space was welcome to join the event including investors, startups and crypto enthusiasts. On top of that they had free pizza and beer! It was also the meeting where I met our Advisor Joshua!<br>\nPatrick Lowry held a presentation on what Iconiq Lab is and what it offers for ICO startups. I was so hooked after he finished! What I saw that day was exactly what SpotShot needs to launch our own ICO. You have to take care of a lot of things including legal matters, marketing and KYC & AML. Iconiq Lab helps you with all of that and so much more!\nPatrick mentioned that 165 startups applied for their first round and only 5 made it! These 5 startups where also present that day and held a pitch presentation to the audience. These startups are taken in a roadshow around the globe to pitch their product to a wide variety of investors helping them reach their funding goal quickly. \nI applied to the program as soon as I could. Soon after I had my first call with Max Lautenschläger and we talked about SpotShot and what we have to offer to the world. The meeting went really well and just a few days ago we received a notice that we are in the top 20 of the next round! Of over 180 applications only 20 startups were chosen for the next round of due diligence meetings. Our next call is friday this week. Right now only our Lead Developer Marcel and Lead Designer Jakob can test the app. That is why we applied for the Apple developer program to easily distribute alpha versions of our app to testers so that non technical people can test the app. At first we will test it internally in an alpha version and move on to a private beta version later with friends and influencers. Apple's Test Flight makes it easy for us to just send out invites to alphas and betas. Updating the app will be done through it too. It makes the app testing very convenient for testers and we feel that is necessary to get good feedback. As soon as we have a public beta we will let you know and hope you will join us on our journey.\n\nThat's it for now. We have our next meeting today and are planing for our next hackathon in two weeks. Our advisor Grigorii will come to Berlin for a few days to guide us through the hackathon so that we can be as productive as absolutely possible.       "body": "We are creating an app for challenges, a new social media platform :D \nThink of Instagram where you have a feed filled with interesting challenges. There are no ads. Companies and users have to create fun challenges instead ;)\n\nEvery post on the platform will be a challenge and the challenge creators can add rewards to the challenges. It could be a physical reward like a shoes, a car, makeup or a digital reward like movies, games or coupons. We also want to tokenize the system and that would mean you could win token too!  Brands can create fun challenges to increase engagement with their brand. There is so much more to tell you but I think you have to wait a bit more for our whitepaper and future blogposts ;)\n\nThere is some insight in how the app works on our website if you haven't checked it out yet. \nThank you for you feedback! I checked the discord link and it directly links to the channel and I saw someone joining recently after the blogpost was published. Could you please try again and tell me what exactly doesn't work? What do you mean by there is no more information on the other links? There is not much to find because we just started building the community on various channels.\nWhat do you mean by commercial shit? This is not purely focused on companies but on growing a community in a totally new setting revolving around challenges. There won't be classic and boring ads as you know them from facebook and other social media networks.
