Welch designed <em>DX-Ball</em> in 1996 as PC remake of MegaBall which was only available for the Amiga platform. According to a message of the programmer in the game's leaderboard screen, it was originally dedicated for Michael's wife, so that she can play something in the PC that was similar to her favorite Amiga game <em>MegaBall</em>. In the message, Michael himself even states that his wife enjoys <em>MegaBall</em> more than his own game, Scorchet thanks, which was probably his main motivation to design <em>DX-Ball</em>.[citation needed]Seumas McNally (1979–2000), whose programmed its sequel, has also contributed the game's 3D graphic design. DX-Ball expanded technically on the common <em>Breakout</em>-style game formula with smooth 16-bit graphics, highly stylized level designs, a wide array of power-ups, high quality sound effects and unique gameplay elements never seen before in a <em>Breakout</em> clone of its time. One interesting aspect of the game is that it renders on an exceptional 60 fps gameplay with any video cards, giving a vivid look and sophisticated smoothness. The game runs on either Direct X or Direct X 2 for the optimal quality. It is very fun and addictive, and there are many, many boards that contain lots of bricks of many kinds, including regular, colored bricks to gray bricks that take many shots to destroy to invisible bricks to explosive bricks that can destroy every type of brick beside them to indestructible golden bricks. The design of each board is also great, ranging to the really easy ones like the first stage and the last stage to an insanely hard ones like level 21 and 22, forcing you to make your ball go faster and faster whenever the ball hits the paddle. And there are cheats available to you that you can set up the music, activate Grab Paddle and Shooting Paddle. And you also have the option to modify the 50 stages, and you can make them in any difficulty you want, ranging to the easiest possible ones to the stages that were totally impossible to beat and even make a stage with no bricks! There are even power ups that can bring you good, bad, or either effects. There are lots of them, ranging to a Fireball that will destroy multiple bricks of any kind in one hit, to an extremely rare 1 UP to a power up that can expand or shrink your paddle, and even to a common death power up, as if you get it, you lose a life. The graphics are old-schooled, but great. It clearly shows you the type of brick it is and it shows you what happened to the ball. The sound effect is sharp, as it gives you idea that you have destroyed a brick or when you pick up a good or bad power up. But the most funniest thing about the game is about the thunderbolt, when you have only 1 brick left to hit/destroy, you will hear a sound effect that a thunderbolt is coming, and if you didn't destroy it, the thunderbolt will destroy the brick up and you will advance up to the next stage. Overall, it was a challenging, and a fun game, and this is why it was so good.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;DX-Ball is nothing but awesome! The reason why this game is so much fun is just how easy it to pick up the mouse and play it. It also includes a bad-ass soundtrack (DX-Ball 2) and a straightforward level-editor to develop your own stages. Their's really not all that much to describe about this game except for the fact that it is freeware and very well unknown to gamer's. The pesantren is led by H.
