| body | Can it be true!? Can 3 AMAZING "indulgences" fit into your day-to-day routine!? I am so excited to say that YES! Red wine, chocolate AND coffee CAN fit into your day-to-day life. (YAY) I'm sure you're thinking something along the lines of "Yes, but where's the catch?" or "What do I have to give up to be able to enjoy these 3 AMAZING man-made creations?" The answer? Nothing. Red wine, chocolate and coffee fit into a list called the "FEON's" What is this list? Food Essential to Optimum Nutrition. A FEON is a nutritional material that possess extensive research demonstrating unique benefits optimal for your everyday health. This nutritional material will aid in your journey to success. At this time, there are 18 FEON's. As research advances everyday, the list may grow BUT as of RIGHT now, there are 18. To give you an idea, here are (in no particular order) 5 FEON's; #1 High Quality Whey Protein #2 Cruciferous Vegetables #3 Omega-3 supplement #4 Blueberries #5 EGCG- Green Tea extract AND, of course, the RDC's; Red wine, Dark chocolate and Coffee. For years, everyone has been under the impression that these foods do more harm than good; and yes, they do have the potential to do just that. BUT if you do your research, there is actually very little science-based evidence to support this notion. In fact, research suggests quite the opposite. RDC's contain unique properties that promote better health and possibly, more efficient fat loss! First things first. One thing you need to know is that red wine, dark chocolate and coffee all have one thing in common; they are packed with antioxidants. What actually are antioxidants? Antioxidants protect you from something called "free-radicals". Free-radicals are molecules that have a loner electron. This is called "unpaired". This causes these free-radicals to become extremely reactive. These free-radicals could be in your cells for all kinds of reasons; your body naturally pumps them out when you're producing energy. Once these free-radicals are in your body, they are desperate to find an electron. They can steal these electrons from things like your DNA or even the lining of cells. This can mutate our DNA and cause more harm than good. SO one of the places that these free-radicals can get an electron WITHOUT causing harm would be from an antioxidant. And the awesome thing about antioxidants are that they are ready to give away one of their electrons to these free-radicals! One more thing you should know before going into why these 3 treats are beneficial for our health (and sanity) is because of a protein called Sirtuin. And, of course, we are lucky enough to say that red wine, dark chocolate and coffee all contain these sirtuins. Sirtuins are proteins that are found in your body and they play an important role in aging and metabolism; therefore playing a role in fat loss! NOW, onto the red wine, dark chocolate and coffee and how they can fit into our day-to-day routine! Red Wine; we all love it. Especially with a nice bowl of yummy pasta or a juicy steak or even at the end of a stressful day (guilty). Red wine has an active ingredient called resveratrol. Resveratrol contains anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and fat-metabolising properties that enable cells to live longer. This happens during the fermentation process; during this process these cells are actually preserved and concentrated on the polyphenol's unique capacities. This active ingredient also ramps up another protein called sirtuins. Dark Chocolate; who doesn't love a nice, big square of dark chocolate!? That bitterness that just melts in your mouth and literally activates serotonin levels! (not kidding guys!) Dark chocolate is a rich source of flavan-3-ols (a phytochemical found in cocoa) that maintains the elasticity of artery walls and therefore, offers a clear protective effect against cardiovascular disease. Dark chocolate also activates the protein sirtuin and therefore aids in the metabolism promoting in fat loss. Coffee; what are mornings without caffeine? Now, despite the popular theory that coffee ramps up our cardiovascular system; research shows that coffee (decaf and caffeinated) does not adversely affect our cardiovascular system. Not when consumed in realistic doses anyway. Coffee appears to promote an insulin sensitizing effect! The body starts to produce insulin when glucose is released into the bloodstream when we intake carbohydrates. This is then converted from fat to energy more efficiently. Recent studies suggests coffee consumption lowers and sustains the blood glucose response of meals by slowing the gastric emptying of food from the stomach. Lower blood glucose = key attribute to fat loss. Now, the big question! How can I fit this into my everyday life? The key to achieving the benefits from RDC's is a moderate approach. Particularly, regarding red wine and dark chocolate. 1-2 standard glasses of red wine, 3-4 times a week will promote health. Anymore than this, the benefits can be wiped out by the negatives of alcohol consumption. Only 5-6 squares (30 grams) of dark chocolate contain almost 9 grams of fat (and this is mostly saturated fat. The worst kind) along with approximately 150-160 calories! With this being said, 1-2 squares every other day is optimal to reap the benefits that dark chocolate has to offer. As for coffee; adding that cream and 2 sugars obviously contradicts the benefits coffee contains. With this being said, anymore than 3 MODERATE cups of coffee a day also exploits the benefits. SO, 1-3 average-sized cups of regular coffee (black is always preferred) a day can give you the amazing advantages as said above. The key is really all in moderation. If you know you can't have that piece of dark chocolate without going through the entire bar, than don't set yourself up for failure. Once you are comfortable enough with your current nutrition lifestyle, then can you incorporate these 3 treats. I truly hope this blog helped with your insight on red wine, dark chocolate and coffee! Until next time! insta --> kyla.emma30 steemit --> steemit.com/@kyla.emma30 |

| body | HEADS UP: This blog will be all about fur babies! Fur babies with stripes and spots, and wet noses and lots and lots (and lots) of fur! Reason being is I was fortunate enough to be asked to volunteer at the Grand Reopening of the SPCA in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Montreal. Like this was even a question, half my heart belongs to animals so whatever I had planned that day, was now cancelled to help with adoptions and such :) If anyone read my previous blog, you would already know I was very sick that entire week after donating blood. Didn't stop me nonetheless, I had my daytime flu meds and away we go! I was asked through a family friend who is an amazing event planner and has been working with this SPCA for the past 2 years. When she reached out to me, I answered back in minutes with an instant yes. We then recruited my mum to help as well. Being that we all come from the same small, hometown, we were lucky enough to have another close family friend who was the photographer for the day! Needless to say, it was a day we were all looking forward to. The grand reopening was to begin at 10am so we showed up earlier to help with preparing the outdoor events. There were many people who came out and donated their time and supplies which was such an amazing thing to see! When we arrived, there had been a young couple sitting, outside on the sidewalk waiting for the doors to open so they can go in and adopt their fur baby. There were literally hundreds of orange balloons, food vendors, bouncy castles, coloring station for the kids, a raffle and donation table, a DJ, a photobooth and tons more! It was a full house and we occupied the entire parking lot. It was so exciting that all this came together to help find forever home for all these animals. 10am wasn't even around when there was a lineup of people just waiting to come in and pick their new family member. The sight of this was so warming and fulfilling. 10am came, music went on, people were let in and the day of adoptions started! Just to clarify a little bit on the roles of what the SPCA is; SPCA is an abbreviated term for Society for the Prevention to Cruelty of Animals. They ARE NOT a pound or state organization, nor a rehabilitation center or animal shelter. Their main role is to prevent the ill treatment of animals, promote positive behavior of man, be knowledgeable on applications of laws regarding the treatment of animals and make representations of these laws to the appropriate authority. They educate people as well as children about the proper treatment of animals, host events to promote adoptions and many more! It is important to remember that any SPCA is an animal welfare organization that receives no funding from the government and most of the time, no funding from the municipality. The sole function of an SPCA is based on the support they receive from surrounding communities. SO what kind of support can you give YOUR local SPCA? There's many different types of support that you can give from home with your fur babies such as; prevent unwanted litters and back yard breeding by having your animals spayed or neutered, don't support the purchasing of breeders, puppy mills or pet stores, share your education of proper treatment of animals with others. YOU have to be their voice. ALWAYS adopt. Of course, being that SPCA's don't receive any government funding, donations are always appreciated as well. Your time is always valued too! Volunteer on a rainy day. Education is key. Educating yourself on cruelty-free products are so very important too! I'm proud to say that I shop cruelty-free and I educate where I can. Just to make a quick definition of what cruelty-free products are; In the animal rights movement, cruelty-free is a label for products or activities that do not harm or kill animals. Products tested on animals are not considered cruelty-free, since these tests are often painful and cause the suffering and death of millions of animals every year. It sucks to say that shopping cruelty-free isn't easy. You walk into your local pharmacy and there's often one small, unknown brand that don't test on animals. BUT there are certain shops and stores that offer an entire range of non-tested products! Such as Lush and The Body Shop. There are also signs you can look for if you don't happen to be near these stores, in your local pharmacies. One important thing to remember is NO MATTER WHAT, if a brand does NOT test on animals, they will say it. There is a small logo on the back of any product that shows a little bunny and it will say "not tested on animals" sometimes it will show just the bunny as well. SO if you see this little bunny, you are in the clear. These are all little things that you can do BUT it will make such a big impact on these babies who don't have forever homes or those who are living their life in labs. Like I said before, YOU are their voice. It's an empowering feeling! By the end of the day of the reopening of the SPCA, of 13 dogs and puppies, 10 were adopted as well as a handful of senior cats and an entire litter of kittens! These animals have now found their forever homes. I remember seeing the first family of the day, walking away after signing the adoption papers and seeing this dog so unbelievably excited and happy, and I looked to my mum who had tears in her eyes. I then teared up as well because how amazing is it to know that you just saved a life? These are happy tears of course! To these animals, we are their entire world, literally. We leave for work in the morning and live our day. When we leave for work, your animals that you have at home, live their day by waiting for you to come home. They depend on you to live; to feed them, take them for walks, socialize them. This is why I love the term "fur babies". I have 3 cats and 1 dog at home. I bathe in fur everyday! But I wouldn't change it for the world. They are my family too. I will always be an advocate for animals, I will always be their voice and I will never leave any of my fur babies behind. On that note, I will leave you to your day! I cannot stress enough, the importance of being educated; educated on living a cruelty-free life, on knowing where to adopt your future family members where it WON'T support breeders and puppy mills, knowing the proper care and treatment of animals and so on. Don't take in a puppy for kitten because it's cute if you're not ready for the grey hair, smelliness and years to come. One important thing to remember is, this is THEIR life too. You are their life so make them a part of yours :) insta handle ---> kyla.emma30 |

Being that we all come from the same small, hometown, we were lucky enough to have another close family friend who was the photographer for the day! Needless to say, it was a day we were all looking forward to. \n\nThe grand reopening was to begin at 10am so we showed up earlier to help with preparing the outdoor events. \n\n10am wasn't even around when there was a lineup of people just waiting to come in and pick their new family member. The sight of this was so warming and fulfilling.\n\n10am came, music went on, people were let in and the day of adoptions started! \n\n\nJust to clarify a little bit on the roles of what the SPCA is; SPCA is an abbreviated term for Society for the Prevention to Cruelty of Animals. \n\n\nSO what kind of support can you give YOUR local SPCA? \n\nThere's many different types of support that you can give from home with your fur babies such as; prevent unwanted litters and back yard breeding by having your animals spayed or neutered, don't support the purchasing of breeders, puppy mills or pet stores, share your education of proper treatment of animals with others. YOU have to be their voice. ALWAYS adopt. Of course, being that SPCA's don't receive any government funding, donations are always appreciated as well. Your time is always valued too! Volunteer on a rainy day. \n\nEducation is key. \n\nIt sucks to say that shopping cruelty-free isn't easy. There is a small logo on the back of any product that shows a little bunny and it will say \"not tested on animals\" sometimes it will show just the bunny as well. SO if you see this little bunny, you are in the clear. \n \n\n\n\nThese are all little things that you can do BUT it will make such a big impact on these babies who don't have forever homes or those who are living their life in labs. Like I said before, YOU are their voice. It's an empowering feeling!\n\n\n By the end of the day of the reopening of the SPCA, of 13 dogs and puppies, 10 were adopted as well as a handful of senior cats and an entire litter of kittens! This is why I love the term \"fur babies\". I have 3 cats and 1 dog at home. I bathe in fur everyday! But I wouldn't change it for the world. They are my family too. I will always be an advocate for animals, I will always be their voice and I will never leave any of my fur babies behind. \n \n\n\n\nOn that note, I will leave you to your day! You are their life so make them a part of yours :) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ninsta handle ---> kyla.emma30",

| body | Do I have a story or what today.... Last Monday I decided I wanted to donate blood. Hema-Quebec paid a visit to a local elementary school in my region SO I thought what perfect timing than now, to donate blood. I've wanted to do it for a while, it was within distance of my house too! For those who don't know who Hema-Quebec is, they are a non-profit organization that manages the blood supply for the province of Quebec. I did a little bit of research beforehand to make sure I was eligible to donate in the first place. Everything was good to go so I cleared my schedule for Monday! I live my lifestyle by intermittent fasting. Quick quick, for those who don't know, IF is where you have periods where you fast for a certain amount of hours and then you have a window where you eat and consume your daily macro intake. This is for a future blog but FOR NOW, for this blood donation I decided that fasting wasn't a good idea. SO I ate before, I had 500mL of water before going as well. When I got there, I went to check in. I was all excited because I got a little sticker that said "New Donor" and I felt all proud! They had given me another snack and a water bottle to be consumed before my blood was drawn. I then went to see a nurse where they took my blood sugar and checked to be sure my blood could be used. They asked soooo many personal questions which I wasn't expecting but I got it done! Then came the time to see the last nurse before going to the bed where I would be donating. She reassured me that it really wasn't that bad, almost like a blood test. In my head i'm thinking "for a blood test, you have a needle in your arm for no more than 1 minute.... this can last up to 15" Now, i'm not scared of needles but i'm not particularly comfortable with them, just like anyone! She started to play with my veins... she poked and prodded and squeezed and marked my arm. She explained how they can now separate your blood right away into 4 different categories; red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. I thought this was so neat! She then picked my arm and began the process. They draw 500mL of blood. I like to ask questions so I was asking away! They had 4 different bags where they distributed the plasma, platelets, red and white blood cells. They had this little, yellow box-like-thing that the bags would sit and and it would move from side-to-side to keep the blood from clotting. This is where I learned that I apparently, have little veins. How does this affect my donation? It technically doesn't, just means that I had to work harder to get my blood pumping. The reason for this is because there is a solution within these bags that keep the blood from clotting. You have a certain amount of time to get 30mL or more into this bag because then the solution would start to take over and there would be more solution than blood which defeats the purpose of donating. I was given a ball of paper towel to squeeze and move around in my hand to get my blood circulating quicker. This was pretty painful. Each time I moved this ball, I felt the needle in my arm which freaked me out a little BUT I kept calm and worked through it! I ended up making the right amount of blood per bag within the right time. This took around 12-15 minutes but I got it done! I was told that this amount of blood that I donated saved 3 lives. I felt all happy and warm inside :) I then got up, went over to the beds where you sit for 5-10 minutes and waited to be cleared to leave. I'm so thankful that I was within my hometown because I happened to run into many familiar faces, one of which occupied the bed next to me. We started talking, we were cleared at the same time so we made our way over to the table where there was juice and snacks and all that jazz. We took our conversation to the corridor on our way out where all of a sudden, I started not to feel so well.. I got very hot and sweaty, my vision started to go blurry, I heard a very loud ringing in my ear and next thing you know, I was on the floor. Luckily, the company I was within, helped me up off the ground and brought me back inside to sit. He sat with me for a little while and me, being me... made jokes about my fainting. I'm just very grateful that I was within his company because God forbid I was behind the wheel. BUT this wasn't the case and after I felt back to normal, I got up and left. It is now Monday again, a week after my donation. I am now aware that the way my body reacted was perfectly normal. I took 7 days off the gym and any intense physical exercise. I've learned that you really have to listen to your body. My body was telling me that it needed time to replenish and recover and so I listened. Today was my first day back in the gym and I feel stronger than before both physically and mentally. I actually started writing this blog 3 days after my donation with the intention to post it sooner but I felt so fatigued and out-of-body that I couldn't sit long enough to sit down, think, write and edit this. SO this is what I am doing today! Sharing my experience of a first-time blood donor :) After donating, I did some more research because it's so amazing how, by taking an hour of your day to donate blood, it can save 3 lives! I learned about what each red, white blood cells, plasma and platelets do and who they help. Plasma: is the protein-rich liquid in blood that helps other blood components circulate throughout your body. It supports your immune system and helps control excessive bleeding, which is why plasma donations are important to help treat bleeding disorders, liver diseases and cancer in patients. Platelets: help bone marrow transplant, cancer, and leukemia patients Red Blood Cells: Red blood cells remove carbon dioxide from your body, transporting it to the lungs for you to exhale. Red blood cells are made inside your bones, in the bone marrow. White Blood Cells: White blood cells are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders. All white blood cells are produced and derived from multipotent cells in the bone marrow known as hematopoietic stem cells. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me! SO, everyone has their own reasons to donate or volunteer; I have mine too. It was 3 years this past July 1st, Canada day, that gave me my reason. I remember this day because in the community I come from, Two-Mountains, Canada day is a huge event! Everyone comes out of hibernation with their red cowboy hats, waving those cheap, cardboard Canadian flags and holding their beer close to their hip. We listen to live bands, enjoy the games and horse shoe competitions and watch fire works at night! This day, 3 years ago, took a turn for my family and I. I could go into detail of what we were all wearing and what music was on the radio because it feels like it was yesterday but for longevity reasons, I'll make it quick. There was my dad, myself, my 2 younger sisters and my, now ex-boyfriend. We made a quick trip to a local grocery store. The weather was approximately 38 degrees Celsius out and my dad was cold. He was shivering, he had no color in his face, his hands were white, he was stuttering totally out of nowhere. We were walking down the aisle when he said he wanted to go sit in the truck while we finished the shopping. I knew something was wrong so I remember walking behind him to check up on him when he collapsed. I ran over to help him up but my dad is a 6'3, 200lbs guy! I had some trouble. I still remember people looking down on me and at him and just starring. No one was helping. I specifically remember a man saying to his wife "that man must be drunk" in French. I yelled at my ex to take my younger sister for a walk and my other sister came to help along with the manager of the store. We called the paramedics. He walked himself out to the ambulance to get himself checked. They checked his vitals and everything was cleared but how is this possible that he totally collapsed, remembers nothing but hes "ok"? Its not possible. They were ready to tell him to go home versus taking him to the hospital. Luckily, my younger sister, who want's to become a nurse, was level-headed enough to tell them to take him to the hospital. Thank God she did because it turns out, my dad was missing almost 3/4 of his blood.... He needed 6 blood transfusions that day. If it weren't for those people who took the time out of their day to donate, my sisters and I would have lost our dad. I can't even fathom the thought of that. Now, he prances around with his warm finger tips and red-skinned face and actually sweats when its 38 degrees outside! The only reason he gets tired now is because of a long day at work or my younger sister tiring him out. To this day, I wish I could thank those people who sat there with that needle in their arm for 10 minutes, who answered those personal questions and who took their time out of their day to donate. How cute are we?? :) It's understandable that not everyone is eligible to donate blood, or can sit there with that needle for 10 minutes and get through it. But there are so many other ways to help. Take the time to volunteer when these organizations visit locally, make it aware within your communities that they can donate, you can help with funds online, you can share links for these events. and on that note, I shall leave you to your day! Smile, be happy, be grateful :) insta handle ----> kyla.emma30 |

| body | Alrighty then, So, if you read my first post, you are aware that I'm a bit of a fitness freak. Everything I do revolves around health and sports and.. well... fitness. SO this is basically what I will be basing my blog around with a few twists and turns here and there. This particular blog will be about, if you haven't guessed it based off of the title already, GREEN TEA (YAY) and the phenomenon around it. I'm that type of girl who will sit in an obnoxiously fluffy pair of socks (Halloween themed is my FAVORITE), a HUGE sweater, a cup of tea and either read or study for hours on end. My go-to tea will always be green tea. Primarily because its just liquid gold but the health benefits behind it are amazing too! The nutrition course I studied is Metabolic Precision created and written by Dr. Paul Cribb; PhD, CSCS, FTAs. Cribb being one of Australia's leading scientists in Sports Medicine, a board member of The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), as well as a presenter and key speaker at organizations such as The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and The United States Dairy Export Council (USDEC). All this to say that he is the REAL deal and a VERY smart man. I've had the privilege to study his very recognized program and within this program, opened my eyes about the wonders of green tea. SO, let's get into it then, It's a crazy thing to think of BUT 2 of 3 people will die, prematurely by heart disease or some form of cancer. Next time you're in a large crowd, think of that. It's sounds surreal but its the sad truth. As close as doctors are to solving such mysteries, they are still so far. BUT what if I said that there may be this magical compound that has emerged that has the potential to prevent and treat various forms of cancer, a handful of other diseases and help with fat reduction? Would you jump all over that!? I know I would! Well lovely people of the internet, this compound is Green Tea; specifically the active ingredients in it. This is actually called a POLYPHENOLIC compound. Most of the polyphenols are known as FLAVANOLS, or more commonly known as CATECHINS. SO many big words... there's more to come! There are 4 major catechins found within green tea; EPIGALLOCATECHIN (EGC), EPICATECHIN (EC), EPICATECHIN GALLATE (ECG) and EPIGALLOCATECHIN GALLATE. I cannot pronounce one of those words.. seriously, just call it EGCG. That will make everyone's life easier! What does this magical compound found within green tea ACTUALLY do?? What CAN'T it do is actually the better question. Providing evidence that it SLOWS progression of HIV, REDUCES high cholesterol, REDUCES the risk of cardio vascular disease, SLOWS progression of various forms of cancer, gives fat loss a jumpstart, prevents body fat accumulation and even helps with the prevention of dental cavities. The EGCG compound shows promise of BINDING strongly to biological molecules and affecting enzyme activity and signal transduction pathways associated to progression of cancers. Such cancers as; breast, pancreatic, prostate, colon, skin and lung. Another major contributor to cancer and cardiovascular disease is our DNA. Oxidative DNA damage is linked to various cancers as well as cardiovascular disease. This EGCG compound has been shown to reduce markers of this phenomenon as well as inhibit DNA methylation. This is a GOOD thing! If your mind exploding yet?? I'm trying not to get too technical with all these huge names because they're intimidating! Trust me, I get it. There's always place for a meme :) Back to business, Let's throw in a fun fact! Did you know that green tea is a staple among the Japanese diet? Mainly for women. Did you also know that Japanese women have been known to show the LOWEST incidence of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity IN THE WORLD?! Scientists are starting to believe that this may not be a coincidence after all... Cool eh? What about Green Tea being an antioxidant? Well, this does appear to be true BUT we have to remember that most green tea antioxidant effects have been witnessed in vitro (cell culture) which means this is concentrated 10-100 times GREATER than what people may achieve as a regular green tea consumer. Research shows that in vivo (living body), tea catechins are rapidly metabolized and even with VERY high intake of green tea extracts, EGCG plasma concentrations are likely to be 100-1000 times LOWER than antioxidants such as Vitamin C. To understand better, I would read that again. It's sort of mind blowing but totally cool to know! Though, for the sake of time, yes, green tea does act as an antioxidant BUT you could better reap the benefits elsewhere. Best example I could give is blueberries! But that's a whole other post... stay tuned! Now, what about fat loss? Green tea is associated to SO MANY trends and fads in todays diets. It is known to be a fat burner, its incorporated into "teatoxs", its not rare you'll see an ad on Facebook or a commercial on TV of a young women with a huge smile, whilst holding a cup of green tea claiming how she lost all her weight from this miracle-in-a-cup! Had to do it... The idea originated from in vitro research that demonstrated EGCG activated a process called THERMOGENESIS. Thermogenesis is the process of which your body burns calories to produce heat thus promoting weight loss! EGCG also appears to work synergistically with other thermogenic compounds such as caffeine; to enhance fat metabolism. EGCG supplementation also shows NO raise in either heart rate or blood pressure! AND a study done on mice who were fed a high-fat diet combined with green tea extract supplementation (75% EGECG) showed a REDUCTION in body fat despite the high fat intake. I'm sure you're thinking "well sign me up! give me that cup of green tea and all those benefits!" It HAS been shown safe for a healthy individual to consume high amounts of EGCG which is great! Because, an unfortunate side of EGCG is its low oral bioavailability. This is the most poorly absorbed and most extensively metabolized of all the tea catechins! Researchers suggest that you would need to drink at least 7-8 cups a day or a supplement with substantial doses of EGCG to reap some of the anti-cancer benefits. For fat loss, a total of 270 milligrams of this compound a day has been to shown to aid the process. BUT one thing to remember is that green tea does contain caffeine. It's perfectly safe to drink this much green tea as long as you don't have a sensitivity to caffeine. All-in-all to say that Green Tea IS amazing for you. The benefits of the compound EGCG is being extensively researched everyday! New studies and new trials are being performed by researchers and scientists more often than not. More to come, more to learn :) Best advice I could possibly give to anyone is to always be safe about decisions you make with your health. Don't fall for the label that sits on the shelf in the pharmacy that promotes fat loss just by taking a pill and drinking 3 cups of tea a day! There is NO easy way to your goals. You HAVE to work for it. And it's such an enjoyable experience! And you get to make it your own! How awesome is that!? I truly hope that this post was interesting to read! I loved writing it :) AND some cool facts about green tea yet again (because its such a magical thing!) Until next time beauty's! Insta handle --> kyla.emma30 |

"body": "Alrighty then, \n\nSo, if you read my first post, you are aware that I'm a bit of a fitness freak. Everything I do revolves around health and sports and.. well... fitness. SO this is basically what I will be basing my blog around with a few twists and turns here and there. \n\nThis particular blog will be about, if you haven't guessed it based off of the title already, GREEN TEA (YAY) and the phenomenon around it. \n\n\nI'm that type of girl who will sit in an obnoxiously fluffy pair of socks (Halloween themed is my FAVORITE), a HUGE sweater, a cup of tea and either read or study for hours on end. My go-to tea will always be green tea. Primarily because its just liquid gold but the health benefits behind it are amazing too! \n\nThe nutrition course I studied is Metabolic Precision created and written by Dr. \n\nSO, let's get into it then, \n\nIt's a crazy thing to think of BUT 2 of 3 people will die, prematurely by heart disease or some form of cancer. \n\nWell lovely people of the internet, this compound is Green Tea; specifically the active ingredients in it. | body | SO BASICALLY..... My name is Kyla-Emma Kanieten:hawi Baldwin Theoret. Yes, my parents gave me the full-legal amount of names (that or they ran out of space on my birth certificate) This is me :) Completely kidding. She's just my crush. This is actually me Where am I from?? I come from 2 small towns that I both call my hometown; Deux-Montagnes and Kanesatake. Totally weird names right? Deux-Montagnes is French for Two-Mountains (just to clear things up) and Kanesatake is Mohawk for in between Mountains. I'm sure you're thinking "she must live in a beautiful mountainous region where the tips touch the sky!" Well, I don't. Both towns are within 20 minutes apart, in between 2 mountains and we're just a little over-enthusiastic about it. But I love them! So who am I actually? What am I about and why am I here? (and importantly, why do you care??) I'm a soon-to-be-22-year-old who lives in a beautiful house filled with 3 cats and 1 dog. I'm not anything sugar-coated, i'm not the most patient of people at times and, in the words of Cady Heron, "I have really bad breathe in the morning" I live in the gym, mainly because its part of my job, I love to smile, I love to learn, I love meeting new people, I love a good challenge and I love coffee (as I sit here with my Americano... with 3 shots) My Job/Career So I kind of hinted before that I live in the gym and I do! It's my happy place, my escape, my playground, my comfort zone. I train 3 days a week with weights and 3 days a week light-HIIT cardio. This is actually PART of my job. I am a young aboriginal fitness entrepreneur. I am based mainly online (my end goal is to be based solely online) and I have clients. I am in the literal beginning steps of building my social media following. As I said before, I LOVE to learn, I LOVE to be challenged and this job allows me to have new challenges everyday AND learn from them. Its the best of both worlds! And it makes me happy so if there's a third world, I have that too! I am a personal trainer, a body transformation specialist and training to complete my nutritionist certificate. I want to study in one of the most recognized Universities; Concordia, in Athletic Therapy to train athletes. Growing up, I've always been an athlete. I take such pride in that. I was and still am privileged enough to play sports. Softball for 13 years as catcher, Volleyball for 8 (both 6-on-6 indoor and 2-on-2 beach) and Ringette for 2. This is how I am able to do, what I do. And I love every single second of it. I cannot wait to continue taking new courses, learning from experienced people and expand my knowledge as wide as I can! Shall we get personal? I think so. **READER BEWARE** SO, as we all know, life isn't always lollipops and rainbows and unicorns with glitter horns. As much as we wish we could live in the music video "California Girls" by Katy Perry, it isn't really possible. We are only human and we can only do so much. We all do the best we can with what we have and this is PERFECTLY OKAY. Growing up on a small, isolated Mohawk reserve as an indigenous girl wasn't always the easiest. I am lucky enough to have my mum (who you will soon learn is my hero) Without going into detail, my dad wasn't always involved with the nicest of people. Point blank. Leaving it at that, I had a somewhat rough childhood. BUT this is where my sports and my mum come into play. My mum, the brave women that she is, was able to take my younger sister and I away. Yes, I have an amazing sister too :) Though I wasn't the most rich in my upbringing, I was rich with family. I had my nana and papa and am still fortunate to have them both. I have my uncle and auntie too. They created memories that will always be kept. I had some amazing coaches for both softball and volleyball whom I am lucky enough to say that they are still apart of my life today. I was 9 when my parents spilt and we moved out. We moved into a tiny little house in Deux-Montagnes. It was just my mum, sister and I. My mum had her cafe, she had her studies and she worked a full-time job as a Behavioral tech at our local highschool. Needless to say, she's Wonder Women. My dad left for a couple years and we didn't see him. 3 to be exact. It was hard to understand as a kid and I always blamed my mum. It was a confusing time with so many questions left unanswered and to this day, I still do not want them. My dad soon made his way home though and he met a women. She has been in our lives for 11 years now. Though we may not agree on everything, she gave me my sister and brother. YES, I have ANOTHER sister and I have a brother. I'm one fortunate big, big, big sister :) My sister, who is now 8, is my absolute pride and joy. She saved our family without a doubt. Fast forward to January 16th 2014; a day I will always remember like it was yesterday. My brother of 1 month and 2 weeks, passed away. This caused a domino affect within my family and I was the last one standing. I grew up very quick as a kid and became an adult at 19. I had to. Now, fast forward again to this day. Today, October 4th 2017, I sit here and write this blog, spilling the beans on a social media website to people who don't know me. Why? Because this is me. I thank God, the Creator or whoever is above me for giving me the challenges I have endured and the challenges I still endure to this day. My mum just bought her first house, nana and papa sold their burden of a house and are living sky-high (literally) in a beautiful condo, Kendra works full-time at a job she loves with hope to go back to college, dad wakes up everyday to the face of my little sister who saved us all, Taylor is finally being a kid and scrapping her knees up playing sandman in 3rd grade and I am here, writing this blog, still feeling gross from my awesome sweat I had at the gym this morning and I couldn't be happier :) I have amazing siblings; I have a beautiful mum; .jpg) I have a HUGE family; I have AMAZING friends; and I have my health; Honestly, what more could you ask for? There is just soooooo much to say and I cannot wait to continue saying them; to teach and to meet new people. To continue sipping on this, now cold coffee and go back to my nutritionist exam. I'll probably call my dad later to say hi, at the same time i'll tell Taylor that her 2 big sisters are taking her pumpkin picking this weekend. To go take the elevator up to the 4th floor and have a cup of tea with nana and papa and for my mum to read my first blog. To continue taking in the little things and appreciating them. Ok, I think i'm about done, BUT, before this is wrapped up... HERE ARE MY BABIES My Ruby girl My Milo My Phoebe and Salem Talk soon! xox (total Gossip Girl) insta handle----------> kyla.emma30 |
