titlethe veil of his flesh pt.1 - hidden glory
bodyThe Veil of His Flesh Pt.1: Hidden Glory An Advent Reflection  …by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, - - Hebrews 10:20 As we celebrate Christmas we ponder the wonder of the incarnation of Jesus. That the second member of the Godhead added humanity to himself thus forever uniting himself to humanity. The writers of the New Testament stress both the humanity and divinity of Jesus. So we affirm that Christ is one person with two distinct natures, not separated, not mixed but forever united. Theologically we refer to this as the hypostatic union. In this brief advent reflection I want to look at the words ‘through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;’ and examine the imagery the author provides. Here the author is saying, that by the blood and through the flesh of Jesus we enter the most holy place with the human Jesus as our high priest who leads us. But notice that it is His flesh that is the gate of entrance. This is an intriguing way to express the high priestly work of Jesus and how He brings us into the presence of God. What I want to do now is take up what seems to be an invitation to explore the range of meaning that the imagery employed by the author evokes, focusing on the imagery of the veil. The flesh of Jesus veils the glory of god When Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, we read 'His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.’ What happened is that Jesus temporarily allowed His Divine nature to be expressed and let his glory radiate. This is why both John and Peter refer to that event and associate it with seeing the gory and majesty of God. For instance when John writes about this event he says: ‘And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.’ - John 1:14 He is here referring to seeing the glory of Jesus revealed on the mountain. What is important is that though this was a temporary event, it was a taste of what living in the New Jerusalem will be like. John shares his vision of of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21:10,11, where we read And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,  having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. He goes on to say in Revelation 22:5  ‘There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light.’ What is to be stressed here is that in the New Jerusalem God’s glory will be present and expressed with all its fullness. Redeemed humanity will be able to stand it because they will be in their glorified state. Until then, man cannot withstand being in the full presence of God’s glory. Thus as Jesus was on the earth He had to restrain the full expression of His glory, and His flesh was the veil that covered His glory from man. To further develop this idea we can think of Moses who was also on a mountain where the glory of God was revealed. In exodus 33, Moses asks God to show His glory. God’s response was that Moses could not see His face and live. We read: ‘But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”  And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.” Notice that Moses was covered while God’s glory passed by. Moses eventually got his request not on mount sinai, but on the mount of transfiguration as he conversed with Jesus and Elijah. As Moses came down to the camp his face shone from the encounter, which led to Moses putting a veil over his face as he conversed with the people. Commenting on this Paul says in 2 corinthians 3 that the children of Israel were not able to look at Moses’ face because he was reflecting the glory of God. Even though it was a mere reflection and a fading one at that. He then goes on to say in verse 18; ‘But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.’ In Christ, the veil is removed and we see God’s glory as it is revealed in and through Jesus, who is the brightness of His glory and express image of His person (Hebrews 1:3). John also tells us that Jesus reveals God’s glory and the Father. In His introduction he plays heavily on the theme of light. This is because He is seeking to draw our minds to the glorious light of God’s nature. This light he says, is Jesus. Then, in the span of five verses he associates Jesus with the glory of God and manifestation of the Father. ‘And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.’ - John 1:14 ‘No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.’ - John 1:18 Moses’ was not allowed to see God and live. Yet in Christ we are allowed to see God and live. All because Jesus clothed and united Himself to us in adding flesh to His person. Remember our verse in hebrews tells us that the flesh of Jesus is a veil. The immediate reference is to the temple veil. It is as this veil torn, that we are able to see what it hides, namely the glory of God in the holy place where God sits enthroned between the cherubim. It is the tearing of this veil of His flesh that we will take up in our next reflection. In closing I invite you to reflect on the following statement. God who dwells in unapproachable light has come near to us in the humanity of His Son Jesus as one of us. Sharing in our flesh. It is as this veil torn, that we are able to see what it hides, namely the glory of God in the holy place where God sits enthroned between the cherubim.\n\nIt is the tearing of this veil of His flesh that we will take up in our next reflection.\n\nIn closing I invite you to reflect on the following statement. God who dwells in unapproachable light has come near to us in the humanity of His Son Jesus as one of us. Sharing in our flesh.\n\nKeith Fortenberry is a pastor in Calvary Chapel Heidelberg, Germany\n\nYou can follow him on Instagram: keith410berry\nand Facebook https://www.facebook.com/keith.fortenberry",

title4 things every team needs to be successful
bodyThere is nothing like a healthy, productive team. Being on a great team makes everything easier and more joyful. Unfortunately, not all teams are great and not all teams succeed. Being a great team requires work. Being a great team is not an accident and certain things need to be intentionally put in place. Here are four things every team needs in order to be successful. #1 clarity A good team is clear about what it is about and what it wants to accomplish and why. Basically this means there is vision. A clear picture of what the goal is and clear roles for team members. Every one knows what they are after and what their role is. They also know what victory looks like. A lack of clarity and vision is sure to leave a team lost in confusion and hurt progress. #2 unity Unity is vital and non negotiable in securing success as a team. The number one thing to kill a team is division. Unity will come on the heels of vision. When a team is united, everyone is on board, and embraces their role in the team's efforts. Once division sets in, progress is stifled and a team can very well implode. Create, maintain and guard unity at all costs. #3 loyalty Next is loyalty. Each team member needs to be committed to the team, and not just look out for their own interests. Loyalty to the team will mean that each member is looking for ways to help the overall success of the team. Loyalty is the result of buy in. When people have buy in they are more likely to be committed to the team. #4 accountability Lastly is accountability. Accountability keeps everyone operating with integrity. A healthy team will be able to have difficult conversations and deal with confrontation in a healthy way. When members are allowed to slack with no consequences or confrontation the value of excellence is missing and the prospect of success are weakened. A good way to have accountability is to maintain visible key performance indexes and have coaching relationships that are designed to help each team member grow into all that they can be. Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! title5 Key Elements to an Effective Devotional Time
bodyThe New year is fast approaching. Many of us find ourselves in the time of holiday hurry and fast paced days. We also find ourselves reflective. Wondering if we grew the way we wanted to this year. If we achieved any goals, lost weight, read our quota of books and so so on. For many of us this is also a time when we examine our relationship with God. We ponder our wanderings and and celebrate His faithfulness. We find a renewed awareness of our need to spend time with God and a renewed desire and passion to pursue Him in the quiet spaces and places of our life. In other words, we have a renewed energy and commitment to make our devotional time our top priority. So we download Bible reading plans, buy journals and organize our planners with outrageously early times to rise and read and pray. This is all good and to be applauded. What I want to do is give your five elements that will make your devotional time effective. Routine We begin with a bang. Energy and enthusiasm mark our efforts. Just like Genesis 1! We begin there, take notes, see new themes we never saw and revisit old ones. Then as days go by we get into those sections that seem complicated to us, hard to understand and hard to retain an interest in. This is normal. That is why it is important that these precious hours are fixed into a good rhythm and rigorous routine. There will be days when you don't want to do your devotions. Life happens, bodies get tired and kids... well... kids are kids. But if we approach our time with God with a routine, we ensure a more effective and consistent devotional life. This is exactly what we see with the great saints of church history and in the Bible. I think specifically of Daniel. Daniel was a very busy man with a host of excuses to not make time to pray. But we are told he prayed thee times a day no matter what. We even see this with Jesus, who often rose early to go be alone with His Father in fellowship. A good routine will have a repeated time, place and rhythm to it. Relational In our devotional time, we do not want to slip into some form of religious dullness. This is hard, and it will happen at times. But overall the way to avoid this is to remember we are engaging with a person. God is not a concept or theory. Nor is He simply the provider of some concept or theory. He is a person who fellowships with us on an intimate level. Through the humanity of Jesus, we as humans come to God who is Divine and partake in His eternal life, which is marked by joy and holiness. When Jesus taught us to pray, He immediately emphasized the relational aspect of being with God as our Father. There is an intimate expression of fellowship that awaits us as we spend time with God. When we lose the relational aspect, we become cold and disinterested because it has lost it's power of personal connection. Reflective One of the most helpful things to do in reading our Bibles is to meditate and reflect. To learn to listen to the voice of our shepherd as we listen to God's voice in the text. It is in the process of reflection that new insights are drawn, new discoveries are made and growth begins to happen. Think of all the times God spoke you as you reflected on His word. The ways He led you and loved you and changed you. This also reinforces the words we read and aids us in memorization. Renewing Lastly, effective devotional time will be renewing. Paul describes it as having a renewed mind. God renews us as we spend time with Him. And this, is ultimately the goal. We want our time with God to change us. I would like to emphasize something here. A good devotional time should have an impact on the rest of your day. It is not like we are to make Jesus first, and then move on to the rest of our day and compartmentalize our devotional time. There is a power at work that is to shape our approach to the day. An effective devotional time will prepare me for what the day has so I can approach it as a disciple, equipped by Scripture and empowered by the Spirit. So there are 5 key elements to having an effective devotional time. I hope you are encouraged and equipped and apply these elements to your life and live a faithful and fulfilling 2020. Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post! I am also a life coach, if you or someone you know are interested in being coached let me know in the comments and we can connect and pursue that further, just let me know in the comments if you would like a free Complimentary Coaching Session and we can set it up.

So we download Bible reading plans, buy journals and organize our planners with outrageously early times to rise and read and pray.\n\nThis is all good and to be applauded. \n\nWhat I want to do is give your five elements that will make your devotional time effective.\n\nRoutine\n\nWe begin with a bang. Energy and enthusiasm mark our efforts. Just like Genesis 1! We begin there, take notes, see new themes we never saw and revisit old ones. \n\nThen as days go by we get into those sections that seem complicated to us, hard to understand and hard to retain an interest in. This is normal. \n\nThat is why it is important that these precious hours are fixed into a good rhythm and rigorous routine. There will be days when you don't want to do your devotions. Life happens, bodies get tired and kids... well... kids are kids.\n\nBut if we approach our time with God with a routine, we ensure a more effective and consistent devotional life. \n\nA good routine will have a repeated time, place and rhythm to it.\n\nRelational\n\nIn our devotional time, we do not want to slip into some form of religious dullness. This is hard, and it will happen at times. But overall the way to avoid this is to remember we are engaging with a person. God is not a concept or theory. Nor is He simply the provider of some concept or theory. He is a person who fellowships with us on an intimate level.\n\nThrough the humanity of Jesus, we as humans come to God who is Divine and partake in His eternal life, which is marked by joy and holiness.\n\nWhen Jesus taught us to pray, He immediately emphasized the relational aspect of being with God as our Father. There is an intimate expression of fellowship that awaits us as we spend time with God.\n\nWhen we lose the relational aspect, we become cold and disinterested because it has lost it's power of personal connection.\n\nReflective\n\nOne of the most helpful things to do in reading our Bibles is to meditate and reflect. To learn to listen to the voice of our shepherd as we listen to God's voice in the text. It is in the process of reflection that new insights are drawn, new discoveries are made and growth begins to happen.\n\nThink of all the times God spoke you as you reflected on His word. The ways He led you and loved you and changed you. \n\nThis also reinforces the words we read and aids us in memorization.\n\nRenewing\n\nLastly, effective devotional time will be renewing. Paul describes it as having a renewed mind. God renews us as we spend time with Him. And this, is ultimately the goal. We want our time with God to change us.\n\nI would like to emphasize something here. A good devotional time should have an impact on the rest of your day. It is not like we are to make Jesus first, and then move on to the rest of our day and compartmentalize our devotional time. \n\nThere is a power at work that is to shape our approach to the day. An effective devotional time will prepare me for what the day has so I can approach it as a disciple, equipped by Scripture and empowered by the Spirit.\n\nSo there are 5 key elements to having an effective devotional time. I hope you are encouraged and equipped and apply these elements to your life and live a faithful and fulfilling 2020.\n\nThanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks!\n\nI write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post!\n\nI am also a life coach, if you or someone you know are interested in being coached let me know in the comments and we can connect and pursue that further, just let me know in the comments if you would like a free Complimentary Coaching Session and we can set it up.",

title5 Proven Principles to help you get organized and live a better life
bodyAs a Life Coach, hands down one of the most common needs people want help with is being organized. Time management, productivity and efficiency are always connected to one's level of being organized. As a human, hands down one of the most frustrating feelings I have had and hate is feeling unorganized. Tasks pile up. The duties are daunting and deadlines are haunting (a little rhyme for you). We often feel like the 8 year old who is told to clean up their room. They look and stare and feel overwhelmed and never get started because they and do not know where to begin. As a life coach who loves to help people in their productivity, I know that to get organized we need a plan. We need a system and a strategy. When we get organized it is a wonderful feeling. There is a sense of excitement and control and we breathe a deep breath of relief and freedom. When our tasks are our tyrants, we feel defeated and lost. We sink into despair and feel like we do not manage our time or life well. It all comes down to how we approach and handle our time. Time is limited. Think about the phrase 'Time management'. We cannot create or control the realty of time. We can simply manage it, and by manage it, I mean we manage ourselves and what we do with ourselves with the time we have. To manage time well, we need to be organized. Here are five proven tips to help you get organized and take control of your life and time. Principle # 1 - Plan ahead I have a saying that I share with my clients. Unplanned time leads to unproductive time. The fact is, if we are going to get organized, we need to make the time to plan. And planning does not just happen, we have to plan to plan. The saying is true: if you fail to plan you plan to fail. How many times have you simply wandered through your week with no sense of direction or control? At the end of the week you are left feeling lost and unsure about what sort of progress or achievements you have had. This is because you did not have a plan to measure it by. To plan well, we plan ahead so that each day has a set agenda and goal. Good planning takes tasks and then works them into our schedule and calendar. When we do this, instead of asking what we should do next, we can consult our planner and know what is next because it has already been scheduled and assigned that time slot. I take Sunday nights to look at my week and see what things I need to get done. Then accordingly I make my weekly schedule to accommodate those tasks. Planning ahead gives me a big picture and sense of control and organization. #2 Have clear priorities The second principle is to have clear priorities. Priorities act as guard rails, they help you filter potential activity through the lens of what you should be doing to move your forward. Certain tasks require that you prioritize them. If you do not prioritize your most important work, you will end of spending time on trivial and less important items. This takes you off course and hinders you from reaching your targets. If you want to work with more organization, you must determine which tasks are highest priority and be sure to schedule and do those first. You can use an ABCD system, or an urgent important matrix to help you determine what tasks you should prioritize. #3 Simpler is better Next, keep it simple. Serisously. Simpler is better. One of the biggest mistakes we make is that we think organization means we add more things to our life and manage them better. This is not so. Good organization will mean that we mindfully begin to remove things from our lives and declutter them. This means that you will need to be able to decide which things are important and which things are not. This brings us right back to determining priorities. The point is that as we filter our tasks and set priorities we need to begin to either delegate or eliminate the things that are not our highest priority. There is a great interest in having a simplified life today, and for good reason. There is simply too much we can do. The most productive people are the ones that simplify their lives and go all in with intense focus on the important things. #4 make lists The next principle is to work with lists. These are action items and tasks that need to get done. A good list will be categorized and itemized. First, categorized lists are groups of items that belong to a certain goal, project or task. This can be as simple as a shopping or packing list. Don't just make a list of items to shop for, and then right after chores to do at home. Keep them separate. Second, itemized lists are straightforward. Make sure you right down the key items to do. Thinking about what to do will help you remember, and writing it down will leave no task out. Having a list of items to check off as they are accomplished will help you be more organized and purposeful in your life and work. #5 Review and reflect Lastly, to be organized we need to review and reflect. I admit, this is where the real discipline comes in. Planning and list making is fun because it is forward thinking. As people who want to achieve, we like to push forward. But to be organized will require us to go back and visit our goals and tasks and measure our progress. In reviewing we make ourselves willing to see what worked and what did not. Where we failed and where we succeeded. Momentum needs to be measured, and if we never slow down and analyze how we are doing we will not be organized because we will not make the appropriate adjustments along the way. Reviewing helps us stay organized because it keeps the big picture in mind, measures success and results and analyzes procedural issues and progress. This is why successful organizations will constantly revisit their mission and vision statements and measure their activity and results by them. So use these five proven principles and you will be more organized in life, and therefore more peaceful and successful.

"body": "As a Life Coach, hands down one of the most common needs people want help with is being organized. Time management, productivity and efficiency are always connected to one's level of being organized.\n\nAs a human, hands down one of the most frustrating feelings I have had and hate is feeling unorganized. \n\nTasks pile up. The duties are daunting and deadlines are haunting (a little rhyme for you). \n\nWe often feel like the 8 year old who is told to clean up their room. They look and stare and feel overwhelmed and never get started because they and do not know where to begin. \n\nAs a life coach who loves to help people in their productivity, I know that to get organized we need a plan. We need a system and a strategy. \n\nWhen we get organized it is a wonderful feeling. There is a sense of excitement and control and we breathe a deep breath of relief and freedom. \n\nWhen our tasks are our tyrants, we feel defeated and lost. We sink into despair and feel like we do not manage our time or life well. \n\nIt all comes down to how we approach and handle our time.\n\nTime is limited. Think about the phrase 'Time management'. We cannot create or control the realty of time. We can simply manage it, and by manage it, I mean we manage ourselves and what we do with ourselves with the time we have.\n\nTo manage time well, we need to be organized. \n\nHere are five proven tips to help you get organized and take control of your life and time.\n\nPrinciple # 1 - Plan ahead \n\nI have a saying that I share with my clients. Unplanned time leads to unproductive time. The fact is, if we are going to get organized, we need to make the time to plan. And planning does not just happen, we have to plan to plan. \n\nThe saying is true: if you fail to plan you plan to fail.\n\nHow many times have you simply wandered through your week with no sense of direction or control? At the end of the week you are left feeling lost and unsure about what sort of progress or achievements you have had. This is because you did not have a plan to measure it by.\n\nTo plan well, we plan ahead so that each day has a set agenda and goal. Good planning takes tasks and then works them into our schedule and calendar. When we do this, instead of asking what we should do next, we can consult our planner and know what is next because it has already been scheduled and assigned that time slot.\n\nI take Sunday nights to look at my week and see what things I need to get done. Then accordingly I make my weekly schedule to accommodate those tasks. \n\nPlanning ahead gives me a big picture and sense of control and organization. \n\n#2 Have clear priorities \n\nThe second principle is to have clear priorities. Priorities act as guard rails, they help you filter potential activity through the lens of what you should be doing to move your forward. \n\nCertain tasks require that you prioritize them. If you do not prioritize your most important work, you will end of spending time on trivial and less important items. This takes you off course and hinders you from reaching your targets. \n\nIf you want to work with more organization, you must determine which tasks are highest priority and be sure to schedule and do those first. You can use an ABCD system, or an urgent important matrix to help you determine what tasks you should prioritize.\n\n#3 Simpler is better\n\nNext, keep it simple. Serisously. Simpler is better. One of the biggest mistakes we make is that we think organization means we add more things to our life and manage them better. This is not so. Good organization will mean that we mindfully begin to remove things from our lives and declutter them.\n\nThis means that you will need to be able to decide which things are important and which things are not. This brings us right back to determining priorities. \n\nThe point is that as we filter our tasks and set priorities we need to begin to either delegate or eliminate the things that are not our highest priority. \n\nThere is a great interest in having a simplified life today, and for good reason. There is simply too much we can do. The most productive people are the ones that simplify their lives and go all in with intense focus on the important things.\n\n#4 make lists \n\nThe next principle is to work with lists. These are action items and tasks that need to get done. A good list will be categorized and itemized.\n\nFirst, categorized lists are groups of items that belong to a certain goal, project or task. This can be as simple as a shopping or packing list. Don't just make a list of items to shop for, and then right after chores to do at home. Keep them separate.\n\nSecond, itemized lists are straightforward. Make sure you right down the key items to do. Thinking about what to do will help you remember, and writing it down will leave no task out.\n\nHaving a list of items to check off as they are accomplished will help you be more organized and purposeful in your life and work.\n\n#5 Review and reflect \n\nLastly, to be organized we need to review and reflect. I admit, this is where the real discipline comes in. Planning and list making is fun because it is forward thinking. As people who want to achieve, we like to push forward. But to be organized will require us to go back and visit our goals and tasks and measure our progress.\n\nIn reviewing we make ourselves willing to see what worked and what did not. Where we failed and where we succeeded. Momentum needs to be measured, and if we never slow down and analyze how we are doing we will not be organized because we will not make the appropriate adjustments along the way.\n\nReviewing helps us stay organized because it keeps the big picture in mind, measures success and results and analyzes procedural issues and progress.\n\nThis is why successful organizations will constantly revisit their mission and vision statements and measure their activity and results by them.\n\nSo use these five proven principles and you will be more organized in life, and therefore more peaceful and successful.\n\nThanks for reading. titleFive qualities every Great leader Possesses
body'Leadership is the problem, leadership is the answer ' - Bedros Keuillian I like that quote. It reminds us that leadership is necessary for the success of any organization. Leadership is necessary. Leadership is needed. Leadership is taking people from one place to another. Therefore it is vital that leadership be great. What makes a leader great? What sort of qualities do they possess that enable not only them, but those they lead to excel? Here are 5 qualities that every great leader possesses. Great Leaders Have Character This goes without saying you would think. But sadly much leadership is toxic simply because it lacks character. A great leader will be a person of character. They will have integrity. They are known for honesty. This sort of leader people can trust because they know they are who they are all the time. They have ethical excellence. They do not take shortcuts, manipulate people or use people simply as means to an end. You can take them at their word. Great Leaders Have Competence Great leaders are competent. They know what they are doing. Leadership is taking people from one place to another. In order to do that, one must know where they are going and how to get there. A competent leader has a clear picture of what they are leading people to achieve. They have a clear vision with clear goals and a clear plan to make it happen. If a leader does not know where they are going, everybody will be confused. No one will have any idea what to expect or what to do. Great Leaders Have Courage Next up is courage. I put this next because this has to do with mindset. There are plenty of competent people who lack the courage to act. Courage is unavoidable in leadership. Courageous leaders see opportunities where others only see obstacles. They are willing to step up, step out and take risk. Facing potential failure, fears, the unknown and endure hardship and criticism. All great leaders have been courageous. Great Leaders Communicate Great leaders are great communicators. They communicate what the goal is and how to get there. Their communication is clear and compelling. No one is confused about the objectives. They also communicate expectations clearly as well. Everyone knows what to do. Great Leaders Coach Great leaders are coaches. They bring out the best in their team. They help others rise to their highest potential. This is especially valuable in several areas. When there is a performance gap and someone is not meeting their key performance indexes, the coaching leader will ask questions to help them diagnose what is holding them back. It might be a mindset issue, or a skillset issue. Whatever it is the coaching leader will help them see where they are stuck and develop a plan to get them going on in productivity again. Coaching also helps in dealing with conflicts. By coaching, the leader helps their team member see things and situations from broader perspectives. Then they can analyze the conflicts they face in a healthier manner. Great Leaders Have Commitment Lastly, and not least comes commitment. The apostle Paul said to lead with diligence. Leadership takes every effort for excellence. Good leaders see things through and are fully committed. Starting is easy, but finishing is rare. Great leaders see things through to the end. There you go! 5 qualities every great leader possesses. Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! title5 quick tips on time management
bodyMost people feel stressed about life and work because they feel they have too much to do and so little time to do it. It is stressful because: Time is limited. Time is our most valuable resource. Time does not stop for anyone Time gives no second chances That said, would you not agree it is TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF OUR TIME...! Below are five quick tips to help you manage your time better. Plan Ahead Take some time to manage your time by planning your time. Some ways to do this are by planning your week beforehand. During this time, choose your biggest and most important tasks and schedule them into your weekly schedule. Doing this will help you be more focused as you work with scheduled tasks rather than approach each day wondering what you should do. Determine your priorities and focus on them Focus on the things that you need to be doing to move you forward. We often get sidelined with filler tasks that are not necessary at best and not helpful at worst. Make a list of the things you do, and prioritize the most important ones. These are the tasks you want to see on your schedule. You might get a lot of things done, and do them efficiently, but it turns out they were the wrong things, or at least not the most important things. Make sure you do the work that matters. Eliminate every distraction Distractions are all around. Sometimes life gets in the way and we have to adjust. But most of the time we simply lose focus. Unexpected interruptions, digital distractions and so on... Whether it is putting a sign on your door or keeping your phone stored away, find a way to avoid being distracted. Use timers One way to do the above and have more focus is to use timers. The pomodoro method, which takes work in chunks of 25 minutes with 5 minutes of rest is very helpful. When you put your mind into a timed session, you focus easier and get more done. Just say no Don't be a people pleaser. Learn to say no to tasks and work. Do not take on more than you can do. People will always be glad to allow you to do their work for them, as long as you let them. Say no to anything that is not in your list of top priorities. Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. titleAre you flourishing at work? Find your sweet spot and do more work in it.
bodyHow would you describe your activities at work? Would you say you are flourishing? I mean, you are doing what you love and you are good at it. Often in my coaching, I hear the complaint that people are frustrated because they are doing things they either don't want to do or are not good at. Rather than focusing on the things they do well and enjoy doing they get stuck with tasks that do not bring any sense of joy, or are just outside of their abilities. Below I am going to walk you through four categories about how our work makes us feel. It all revolves around two crucial ingredients: Desire and Ability. When these two are not in alignment, there will be friction with us and our work. The four ways we can feel about our work are: futility; frantic; frustrated and flourishing. 1) Frantic - ability but no desire The person who feels frantic is consumed with tasks that they are able to do, and maybe even well, but have no real desire to do them. Often they end up with these tasks because they have shown a proficiency in a certain area, but it is not the stuff that gets them out of bed and excited to do. This could be bookkeeping, calendaring, or any other thing. The point is that, although you do it and are good at it, given the option you would really rather not do it. In one sense, these sorts of tasks might be unavoidable. What I mean is we might not be able to eliminate them completely. But there is a way to decrease them, and the key to that is delegation. When you find yourself consumed with such tasks, ask yourself how you can delegate them to other people. How can you move them off your plate to free you up to do the things you want to do? So the feeling is frantic. The problem is there is the ability but no desire. The soluton is to delegate. 2) Futility - no ability and no desire The next feeling is futility. I hate this one. I bet you do too. This is the stuff that I don't like doing and am no good at. There is hardly a worse feeling than the feeling of inadequacy. Add to that the despair that comes with doing things we don't like doing... it is horrible. These are the things we do that are a pure waste of time. These are the things we need to cut out of our task list. The key way to deal with them is to Eliminate them. Stop doing them, stop scheduling them and purge them from your planner. They leave us unfulfilled and unproductive. The feeling is futility. The reason is there is no desire nor ability. The solution is to eliminate. 3) Frustration - desire but no ability The next feeling we might experience is frustration. These are the tasks we want to do, but are not good at. These are frustrating because our desires are hindered by our competence. We feel like failures when we cant achieve the things we want to achieve. We find ourselves spinning our wheels and making no progress. This can be extremely disheartening. The feeling of frustration reminds me of watching a child trying to push their play car on the grass. The car gets stuck on a rock and they cant push it any more. They want to but cant. So what happens? In their hindered desire they act out in frustration and cry. So what do we do as adults with these tasks? I guess we can cry, but that won't get much done. Here is the point where you need to make a choice. Either eliminate, delegate or innovate . Either don't bother at all and eliminate. Or delegate it to someone who can do it, or innovate and find a way to get it done. By Innovate I mean tap into your creative side. Maybe you need to learn a new skill. Maybe take a course. Or find a way to collaborate with others to do it. The point is, if you really want to do it but cant, and are not willing to cut it, you need to find a solution so you quit feeling stuck. The feeling is frustration. The reason is there is desire but no ability. The solution is to either eliminate, delegate or innovate. 4) Flourishing - desire and ability Ah.... finally! Flourishing. This is what we all want. This how we all want to feel with our work. This happens when ability and desire align. We do what we do well and enjoy doing. These are the things we want to do more of, and if possible exclusively. This is our sweet spot, and this is where we want to spend our time and energy. The key action here is to concentrate. These are the tasks we want to make our priority because not only can we do them, but we get a sense of satisfaction from them. When we feel we are flourishing, our work is so much more enjoyable and our lives more fulfilled. The feeling is flourishing. The reason is there is an alignment of ability and desire. The action is to concentrate on doing these things. So... what about you? Which one fits your feelings with your work? Are you flourishing? Did you know that I coach people who feel overwhelmed with work and life. I help those who are overwhelmed and frustrated become overcomes and flourishing. "title": "Are you flourishing at work? Find your sweet spot and do more work in it",
"body": "How would you describe your activities at work? Would you say you are flourishing? I mean, you are doing what you love and you are good at it. \n\nOften in my coaching, I hear the complaint that people are frustrated because they are doing things they either don't want to do or are not good at. Rather than focusing on the things they do well and enjoy doing they get stuck with tasks that do not bring any sense of joy, or are just outside of their abilities.\n\nBelow I am going to walk you through four categories about how our work makes us feel. \n\nIt all revolves around two crucial ingredients: Desire and Ability. When these two are not in alignment, there will be friction with us and our work.\n\nThe four ways we can feel about our work are: futility; frantic; frustrated and flourishing.\n\n1) Frantic - ability but no desire\n\nThe person who feels frantic is consumed with tasks that they are able to do, and maybe even well, but have no real desire to do them. Often they end up with these tasks because they have shown a proficiency in a certain area, but it is not the stuff that gets them out of bed and excited to do.\n\nThis could be bookkeeping, calendaring, or any other thing. The point is that, although you do it and are good at ti, given the option you would really rather not do it.\n\nIn one sense, these sorts of tasks might be unavoidable. What I mean is we might not be able to eliminate them completely. But there is a way to decrease them, and the key to that is delegation.\n\nWhen you find yourself consumed with such tasks, ask yourself how you can delegate them to other people. How can you move them off your plate to free you up to do the things you want to do? \n\nSo the feeling is frantic.\nThe problem is there is the ability but no desire.\nThe soliton is to delegate.\n\n2) Futility - no ability and no desire\n\nThe next feeling is futility. I hate this one. I bet you do too. This is the stuff that I don't like doing and am no good at. There is hardly a worse feeling than the feeling of inadequacy. Add to that the despair that comes with doing things we don't like doing... it is horrible.\n\nThese are the things we do that are a pure waste of time. \n\nThese are the things we need to cut out of our task list. The key way to deal with them is to Eliminate them. Stop doing them, stop scheduling them and purge them from your planner.\n\nThe feeling is futility.\nThe reason is there is no desire nor ability.\nThe solution is to eliminate.\n\n3) Frustration - desire but no ability\n\nThe next feeling we might experience is frustration. These are the tasks we want to do, but are not good at. These are frustrating because our desires are hindered by our competence. We feel like failures when we can achieve the things we want to achieve.\n\nWe find ourselves spinning our wheels and making no progress. This can be extremely disheartening. \n\nThe feeling of frustration reminds me of watching a child trying to push their car on the grass. The car gets stuck on a rock and they cant push it any more. They want to but cant. So what happens? In their hindered desire and they act our in frustration and cry. \n\nSo what do we do as adults with these tasks? I guess we can cry, but that won't get much done. \n\nHere is the point where you need to make a choice. Either eliminate, delegate or innovate . \n\nEither don't bother at all and eliminate. Or delegate it to someone who can do it, or innovate. \n\nBy Innovate I mean tap into your creative side. Maybe you need to learn or take a course. Or find a way to collaborate with others to do it. The point is, if you really want to do it but cant and are not willing to leave it alone. You need to find a solution so you quit feeling stuck.\n\nThe feeling is frustration.\nThe reason is there is desire but no ability.\nThe solution is to either eliminate, delegate or innovate.\n\n4) Flourishing - desire and ability\n\nAh.... finally! Flourishing. This is what we all want. This how we all wont to feel with our work. This happens when ability and desire align. We do what we enjoy doing and do well.\n\nThese are the things we want to do more of, and if possible exclusively. \n\nThis is our sweet spot, and this is where we want to spend our time and energy.\n\nThe key action here is concentrate. \n\nThese are the tasks we want to make our priority because not only can we do them, but we get a sense of satisfaction from them.\n\nWhen we feel we are flourishing, our lives are so much more enjoyable.\n\nThe feeling is flourishing.\nThe reason is there is an alignment of ability and desire.\nThe action is to concentrate on doing these things.\n\nSo... what about you? Which one fits your feelings with your work?\n\nDid you know that I coach people who feel overwhelmed with work and life. I also help people in career transition smoothly move from one line of work or job to another.\n\nI can help you get to that feeling of flourishing. \n\nLet me know in the comments if you would like a free Complimentary Coaching Session and we can set it up.\n\n\n\nThanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks!\n\nI write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post!\n\nI am also a life coach, if you or someone you know are interested in being coached let me know in the comments and we can connect and pursue that further.",

titleAssertive vs Avoider: Which one are you
bodyUnderstanding are general modes of behavior, or what our default modes are can be very helpful. They shine light on how we tend to react to situations as well as approach new situations. Generally behaviors are split into three categories: 1) Passive 2) Agressive 3) Assertive * we can of course cook up the cocktail of passive aggressiveness For now, let us just talk about being assertive, because that is the mode we want to aim for. Assertiveness is not passive, nor is it aggressive. In other words it is not one to sit idly nor is it pushy. Assertiveness is a sense of self confidence. It has clarity and directness. Let us look at a few aspects of Assertiveness and then compare it with avoidance. Assertive people: - know what they want and communicate it well in a clear, bold yet non intimidating way - know how to say no - have confident body language- good posture, eye contact, cadence of speech - handle conflict well by standing up for themselves and communicating their feelings When someone is assertive they know how to navigate all sorts of human relationships and scenarios. They have the ability to confidently and clearly communicate what they are thinking, wanting and feeling. As a parent, I see the clear need to coach my son to be assertive. Not pushy. Not passive. Assertive. To have high self esteem and confidence. To be willing to speak up about what he wants in a winsome way, and to stand up for himself and let people know when they have crossed certain boundaries and bothered him. Being assertive is a sign of emotional intelligence as well. Assertive people have control of how they behave, and how their feelings and emotions affect their behavior. They also see things well from the other persons point of view and are able to take that into consideration as they communicate and negotiate with them. They don't let feelings of frustration pile up and affect them. They acknowledge them, confront them, interpret them and control them. Avoiders Avoiders on the other hand are passive. This might look humble and meek, but it is likely sign of low self esteem, low self lack of confidence, low emotional intelligence and lack of social skills. Rather than face and deal with tough situations they go out of their way to avoid the pain and difficulty that may occur. When they are hurt, they do not say anything, but let the anger and frustration build up and go unspoken. While guarding the tongue is a trait of the wise, so is guarding the heart. Just because the tongue is silent does not mean the feelings are being dealt with in a healthy way. Rather than having a sensible discussion with the other party about how they have been made to feel, they let it build up. This has several results: 1) They become emotionally unstable and imbalanced because they have yet to deal with the things that are bothering them. This is very damaging and rots their soul with hate and anger. They become very edgy, touchy, sensitive and even aggressive, ironic as that sounds. 2) They eventually have a blow up, and unfortunately they often take out their pain and frustration on someone other than the person they are angry with. Letting that embarrassment, anger and disappointment go un dealt with, they mull over it in their minds repeatedly. Replaying the scenario again and again, all the while the anger builds and that kettle begins to steadily steam until the blow up occurs. It is like a psychological pressure cooker. Ready to go off! To be honest, we can often bounce back and forth in different seasons and situations between these modes of behavior. No one is perfect. Sometimes I am assertive, other times I avoid. Learning to work on being assertive will help you be more adept at understanding your feelings and dealing with them in a mature and productive way. It will also help you be more successful and useful at work and in your relationships as your self confidence and esteem becomes stronger. You will be a better person, partner, parent, friend, neighbor and coworker. It just takes attention and work. Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! title5 keys to come back from vacation and start winning at life immediately
body![Unknown-5.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcBc7rPnn5ou6XhUaQxRt2LDwYA5FyQ4yEkqzotX9shY4/Unknown-5.jpeg) There is a song by the group Soul II Soul called back to life. The opening refrain is 'back to life, back to reality, back to the here and now' After summer vacation, this sums up what most of us experience. Back to life... back to reality.. the here and now. Our life, our reality and our here and now we come back to is waiting for us. And it expects that we show up ready to win. If you think about it, everything is back to something right now. Back to school shopping, back to work, back to the gym and so on... So how can we come back to life, to our reality and get into a good rhythm successfully and settle in smoothly? 1 - Plan to come back before you leave Often we leave for vacation in a rush. Counting down the time and not really preparing ourselves for the fact that we will have to come back, and that life will be waiting for us. Work will be waiting for us. We energetically wrap up projects with little thought to what needs to be done when we get back. A key to being efficient and productive is preparing for the next day the day or night before. By preparing for the next week before it starts. But when it comes to vacation we can easily fail to plan for coming back. How often have you sat down at work or home after getting back from holiday and felt overwhelmed as you gazed at the list of tasks or pile of work waiting for you? Imagine if you had already organized a plan for them before you left. Itemized the tasks, scheduled them and prepared a plan to do them. How much easier would transitioning back be! So next time you go on a vacation, create a game plan for your return and you will get back into the swing of things more smoothly and more successfully. 2- Come back with time to rest and prepare Often we want to maximize our time away and take as much of it as we can. This is completely understandable. But think about it, when you come back the day or night before you have to go to work, you have not given yourself that much time to transition back into the normal routine of life. I am a big fan of coming back from vacation with at least one day to rest and prepare myself for work. We just came back from our holiday and it was great. But as relaxing as vacation is, it is also tiring. We actually live in a cozy German town, and our vacation was in Istanbul, which is a city of some 20 million people. While we love that city, and all the energy it has, it is tiring. Most people leave the city to vacation in a place like we live. We did the opposite. I am so glad that I had a few days to settle in. I was more tired than I realized. Giving yourself the space to rest up and prepare yourself helps you settle in with a clearer mind and stronger body. 3- Leave the vacation mindset on vacation Vacation is great, as long as it stays on vacation. We often urge people to leave work at work and not bring it on vacation. Well, the same is true for vacation. Having a few days in between to rest helps me to have a contextual detox and process all that happened. This helps me to see where some things from my vacation might be creeping into my mindset and rhythyms that need to be addressed. For instance, we stayed up late basically every night. This is something that cannot continue if we want to have a good rhythm at home. This requires that I am aware of the vacation lifestyle, and intentionally shift back into the life at home lifestyle. This means we are not eating out most nights anymore. We are not sitting outside late and talking most nights anymore. And, yes... we can't sleep in anymore... :-( I love going out and being in the city. And back home some nights I can do that, but not at the pace I do on vacation. It is important to be mindful of the change in our approach to the day that needs to take place and intentionally shift our daily and weekly routines and patterns. 4 - Keep a healthy pace Speaking of pace, set a good sustainable pace right away. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and just start eliminating tasks and getting busy with the stuff we need to do. Totally understandable. But to settle in smoothly, we need to come back and mindfully set a pace that is healthy and sustainable. This will take some discipline because there is so much to do, but if we come back with that approach, we can work back into rhythm in a more healthy way and keep ourselves from the chaos of busyness. 5- Think big and get excited Lastly, our mindset needs to be positive, optimistic and energetic. For that we need to think big and be excited. Rather than looking at the reality of life and getting depressed because we are not at the beach anymore, eating and relaxing, look at life with a positive outlook. Approach settling in with a sense of optimism. Think big, dream big and make the best of your life. Don't get stressed out about school shopping and programs, but rather think big and get excited. This mindset will give you a sense of energy and excitement as you get back into the swing of things, and in turn make them easier to do. There they are, 5 simple keys to come back from vacation and being to win immediately! Thanks for reading. Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks! I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post! I am also a life coach, if you or someone you know are interested in being coached let me know in the comments and we can connect and pursue that further.

We energetically wrap up projects with little thought to what needs to be done when we get back.\n\nA key to being efficient and productive is preparing for the next day the day or night before. By preparing for the next week before it starts. But when it comes to vacation we can easily fail to plan for coming back. How often have you sat down at work or home after getting back from holiday and felt overwhelmed as you gazed at the list of tasks or pile of work waiting for you?\n\nImagine if you had already organized a plan for them before you left. Itemized the tasks, scheduled them and prepared a plan to do them. How much easier would transitioning back be!\n\nSo next time you go on a vacation, create a game plan for your return and you will get back into the swing of things more smoothly and more successfully.\n\n2- Come back with time to rest and prepare\n\nOften we want to maximize our time away and take as much of it as we can. This is completely understandable. But think about it, when you come back the day or night before you have to go to work, you have not given yourself that much time to transition back into the normal routine of life.\n\nI am a big fan of coming back from vacation with at least one day to rest and prepare myself for work.\n\nWe just came back from our holiday and it was great. \n\nI am so glad that I had a few days to settle in. I was more tired than I realized. \n\nGiving yourself the space to rest up and prepare yourself helps you settle in with a clearer mind and stronger body.\n\n3- Leave the vacation mindset on vacation\n\nVacation is great, as long as it stays on vacation. This is something that cannot continue if we want to have a good rhythm at home.\n\nThis requires that I am aware of the vacation lifestyle, and intentionally shift back into the life at home lifestyle. This means we are not eating out most nights anymore. We are not sitting outside late and talking most nights anymore. And, yes... we can't sleep in anymore... :-( \n\nI love going out and being in the city. And back home some nights I can do that, but not at the pace I do on vacation. \n\nIt is important to be mindful of the change in our approach to the day that needs to take place and intentionally shift our daily and weekly routines and patterns.\n\n4 - Keep a healthy pace\n\nSpeaking of pace, set a good sustainable pace right away. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and just start eliminating tasks and getting busy with the stuff we need to do. Totally understandable. But to settle in smoothly, we need to come back and mindfully set a pace that is healthy and sustainable.\n\nThis will take some discipline because there is so much to do, but if we come back with that approach, we can work back into rhythm in a more healthy way and keep ourselves from the chaos of busyness.\n\n5- Think big and get excited\n\nLastly, our mindset needs to be positive, optimistic and energetic. For that we need to think big and be excited. \n\nRather than looking at the reality of life and getting depressed because we are not at the beach anymore, eating and relaxing, look at life with a positive outlook. \n\nApproach settling in with a sense of optimism. Think big, dream big and make the best of your life. Don't get stressed out about school shopping and programs, but rather think big and get excited. This mindset will give you a sense of energy and excitement as you get back into the swing of things, and in turn make them easier to do.\n\nThere they are, 5 simple keys to come back from vacation and being to win immediately!\n\nThanks for reading. body![Unknown-4.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPincWaW3QUVasdxqePVqSytBnGRphYMEwv3Xkxfee3Yj/Unknown-4.jpeg) Would you say you are a focused person? Do you want more focus? When we live and work with focus, we get more things done, and we get things done more effectively. Focus helps us in all areas of life. When we focus on our health, marriage and work we see the results we want. As I closed a coaching call I encouraged my client, and affirmed my belief that they would reach their goals. They were taken back, yet appreciative. I just said ‘All you have to do is focus. Know what you want and focus on doing it’. I have been a huge Lakers fan my whole life. So obviously I have been a fan of Kobe Bryant. One of the things that helped Kobe be such a dominant player was his intense focus. During Game 1 of the NBA finals against the rival Boston Celtics, famed comedian Christ Rock was sitting next to Kobe making jokes. Kobe did not even notice him. That is how focused he was. So, what is focus and how do we increase it. To define focus, lets use this dictionary definition: ‘an act of concentrating interest or activity on something’ So how we can we increase our focus? #1 Get Clear on what you want To focus on something, you need to know what it is. Concentration on an interest or activity requires that there be one. Too often we find ourselves doing things mindlessly. Focus requires Clarity. We have to get clear about what our objectives are and what we are trying to achieve. Once we know what we want to achieve and have a clear sense of it, we can concentrate on it. So begin here. Know your desired outcome and pursue it with singular focus and energy. Stop working mindlessly and start working purposefully towards a clearly defined result. #2 Slow down Hurried work is rarely effective work. John Wooden, the famed UCLA basketball coach who is renowned for his leadership said “be quick, but don’t hurry’. When we do things in a rushed, frantic, and panicked pace we tend to do things sloppily. Like the kid who has to do the dishes before they can go outside and play. Those dishes are rarely sanitary due to the pace at which they were done, which affected the attention given to the task. Doing things in a rush leads to mistakes because we are moving so fast that we overlook important parts of the job. When we get into a calm and easy paced rhythm, our work is much better. We think better, work better and produce better. ![Unknown-1.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXHDGMNt7mh1FQyhDdgVKea9PjvpKxkN7VeD67H25BQge/Unknown-1.jpeg) #3Deal with distractions This is a biggie! Why? Distractions are all around us. Some of us are like Dug the talking dog from the movie up. One squirrel and we lose focus. Have you ever been in the midst of an important project, and then somethings interrupts you and you lose your momentum and never really seem to regain it? Maybe it is a phone call, a text message, an unexpected interruption like an office visit… It can be anything. And honestly, even if we cannot predict and control everything about our day, we can at least be prepared to deal with distractions when they come. 3.1 Identify distractions Before we can deal with distractions, we need to identify them. What are the things that set you off course and kill your momentum? It is vital and necessary to identify what these things are. I think for many of us they come in digital forms. Brian Tracy notes that what when we respond to electronic interruptions such as emails, texts or phone calls it takes around 17 minutes to get back to our work. Think about that! For every time we check email, facebook, news or instagram we not only lose the time we spent doing that, but also over 15 minutes of time to get back into a good work flow. That can easily add up hours in a day, and that is just the readjustment time! 3.2 Eliminate Distractions Knowing what our distractions are, we must ruthlessly eliminate them. Maybe that means hanging a sign on your office door that says do not disturb. Or telling your secretary you are unavailable, or putting your phone on airplane mode, or in your drawer and turned off. Office space is also important. Be sure your office is not full of potential distractions. #4 Work with set deadlines Time management is an important key to working efficiently. This is an area that we are always needing to grown in, because time is limited and unforgiving. When we get good with our time, we work with more efficiency. We can use the tyranny of time to our advantage. Setting deadlines on our calendars gives us several advantages in in our work: It creates a greater awareness of the task that needs to be done It provides a sense of urgency to get the work done in time It helps us organize our activiities accordingly. #5 Develop the ability to say no Assertive people know how to say no. The fact is, if you take on too many things, you will never be able to have the attention required to concentrate on what you do. One of the things I do when I coach people is help them to identify what things they should stop committing to, and then create ways to eliminate these from their list. We get more done when we do less, but do it better. Free time is not a sign of laziness. Lazy people do not have free time, they just never work and get things done. Diligent people on the other hand have free time because they work hard and smart. They work on the things that matter and do them well. They do not allow their list to get cluttered with inconsequential tasks. Good things are not necessarily necessary things, and can clutter up and squeeze out the important things. Reduce. Reduce. Reduce. #6 Do one thing at at time In Nancy Napiers article ‘the myth of multi tasking’, she shows how research shows that our brains do not really do things simultaneously, but actually switches back and forth between tasks. Thus we are in a constant state of starting and stopping. When we try to multi-task, we cannot apply the focus we need on our work. ILike Confucius said: “The man who chases two rabbits, catches neither.” The fact is we can only do one thing at a time. If we want to work with greater focus, we need to keep the main thing the main thing. Or maybe we should say, keep the one thing the only thing. #7 Drill down, dig in and finish the job Basically, go all in. If you are committed to finishing the job, you will have the focus you need. When you have the focus you need, you will finish the job. Brian Tracy reminds us that the more we discipline ourselves to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing until it is done, the more energy we have, and this in turn leads to us getting more things done. Determining to see something through to completion will provide you with the concentration needed to get it done. Here is a good acronym for focus: F - follow O -one C- course U- until S- success In closing, focus is necessary. Focus is hard. But focus is achievable. Use these seven tips and watch not just your focus increase, but your efficiency and productivity. Thanks for reading. I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post! titleHow To Handle Stress
bodyHow do you handle stress? Do you control it? Do you identify it? Do you even realize you have it? Or do you let it control you and in the long run impair your progress and peace? Often when we are faced with stressful situations, we don't know what to do. So sometimes we numb ourselves. This could be a habit, substance, mindless cell phone scrolling, or some other escape mechanism we turn to in times of stress. Lets face it. Stress is a part of life. We all get stressed out for various reasons. Sometimes it is work, relationships, the list goes on and on. One statistic says that 77% of people experience physical symptoms of stress. 73% percent report psychological symptoms. Stress can affect your health, mind and lead to high blood pressure and heart disease. It also affects our mood and behavior. How many times have you done something you regret because you were under a large amount of stress, and had not properly identified and dealt with it yet. Stress is serious business, and we better be aware of it, and better yet, how to deal with it. I wish I could tell you that you will never face a stressful situation again, but that would be untrue. But there is good news! There are ways to deal with stress. We might call this stress management. But we don't have to let stress cause us to turn to mind and soul numbing activity. We don't have to let it lead us to form bad self destructive habits in our attempt to escape the stress. I want to share with you 4 simple strategies to help you better manage your stress. First, acknowledge stress when you feel it Sometimes we don't take the time to listen to ourselves and understand what is going on in our mind, body and spirit. We need to learn how to listen to what is happening in our bodies. People who are constantly overworked and tired begin to get short and snarky with people. They do not even realize it normally. They are just simply living out of a response to their constant state of fatigue. When we do not realize stress is coming on, and are not emotionally mature and aware of our feelings, we begin to be controlled by them. As soon as you feel angry, upset, frustrated or depressed, you need to identify that feeling and begin to discover why you feel that way and how you can eliminate it, it's effects and change your mindset. Secondly, Control your breathing and relax Have you ever noticed that? When people being to feel overwhelmed or upset, they often take a deep breath to control their breathing. This in turn helps control the heart, which is being affected by the stressful situation. Getting into a relaxed state, breathing deeply and slowing down help to control your stress. When you do this, you release the tension that stress brings on. Third, Control Your Response It is easy to get swept up in our emotions, fears and feelings. Remember that you are in control of how you react to situations. By implementing the two items above, you can better control how you respond. Don't get swept away in reactive mode, but rather identify the stress point, calm down and relax, and control your actions. Lastly, Build positive habits As we begin to examine our habits, we can begin to see how much of them are unhealthy responses to stress and pressure. As you begin to change your habitual patterns of action, you will begin to make unhealthy responses to stress be more and more irregular and abnormal for you. This will help you identify when you are triggered and respond to it with unhealthy behavior. Thanks for reading. I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few. If you want to read more posts like this give me a follow… I will give you my best each post! Like it? Please recommend it so more people can read it…. thanks!

title4 Benfit$ of a budget
bodyThe average american has $38,000 in debt. Only 2% believe that budgeting is necessary if you have a lot of debt. This is alarming to say the least. Living in debt is slavery, and not having a budget is foolery. I used to live on credit card debt. I had no control over my spending, and that was an indicator I had no control over my life. But the truth is, accruing debt is easy and budgeting is hard. People have a number of reasons they offer as to why they do not have a budget. Some say they dont make enough, others they dont have time, others are just scared and hopeless. Once I began to budget, my life changed. I saw hope. I had confidence. I felt in control. My marriage got better and my overall self control did as well. Below I want to share four benefits of having a budget: financial awareness when you begin to watch your money, what comes in and what goes out. Where it comes from and where it goes, you begin to get a good sense of where your priorities are. This can be a painful truth to face, it can be embarrassing, but it can be fixed by a budget. When you begin to get educated about your money and spending habits you begin to become aware of what you really need in life. You will be amazed at how many things you realize you buy that you do not need. Being aware of how you money is operating is empowering. It also shows you how you operate and that is freeing as well. secondly it gives you control First, you begin to control what your money does. When you do not control what your money does, your money controls you. A budget causes you to assign activity to your money. You tell your money where it will go, when and how. This gives you a sense of control and empowerment. Also, there is a sense of self control you get from a budget. Alot of our spending is just flat out laziness. Tightening up our spending patterns causes us to tighten up our living patterns. We begin to adjust our lifestyle as we adjust our spending. Third, a budget helps you destroy debt It was debt that really cause my wife and I to get educated about money (a journey we are still on) and tackle our debt. Within a year we went from over $10,000 in debt to having $10,000 in savings, not to mention traveling with out using a credit card. We have not even used a credit card since we made the decision to eradicate our debt. We felt free, in power, united and like a team. It was the first step in beginning to work on building a better marriage (also a journey we are still on :-). This leads to the last benefit, which is peace of mind Knowing what your money is doing because you are in control of it give a sense of serenity. In the end, that tranquility is what we are after in the first place. When our relationship with money is off, everything goes off. Money is not everything, but it is impossible to live life without it. Therefore we must have an educated and active approach to how we handle it. Often we are stressed and anxious because of money. A budget will help you get peace and freedom. I know because it did for us. Are we perfect? No! But having a budget always shows us when and where we begin to get sloppy. Thanks for reading. I write on related motivational topics to productivity like personal vision, goal setting and time management to name a few.
