| title | Ayden (A Short Story) |
| body | (Picture Source: https://www.wallpaperup.com/14112/Landscapes_nature_trees_bench.html) It was my third and last phase for my School Based Experience (SBE). Since it was only a week, I always try to make the best of it. For my final phase of SBE, I went to SK Unico Desa, a rural and under-enrolled national school. I was used to being alone during my SBE’s since none of my classmates or batch-mates were from the same district. I didn’t really mind about that honestly. I took this as an opportunity to learn how to be independent on my own. But after this third SBE, something happened to the point where it changed my mind. The school was unusually small for a rural school. Having only two main wooden buildings, one was the academic building while the other was a mix of the offices, the library and a mini _surau_. As I entered the school grounds, I readjusted my outfit and took a deep breath. Before meeting the principal, there was a boy sitting on a bench outside the office. It was as if he was waiting for me to arrive, welcoming me to the school. Then, our eyes met and he gave me the sweetest smile. His smile reassured me that I will be a great teacher for the week. Knock, knock. The principal immediately noticed my arrival. Instead of a curious face, I noticed he had that surprised look on his face. But his face instantly changed back to a smile after the clerk mentioned I was the teacher whom called last week. Similarly, the teachers had the same first impression too. “Madam Amelia?”, they asked. I shook my head and reaffirmed that I was Jasmine, the one-week teacher for the school. A huge sigh of relief could be heard from one of the teachers at the back of the office. Later, I found out that Madam Amelia was a mother of one of the students here. Unfortunately, the student died from a car accident outside the school, while waiting for the mother. Being creeped out, I was also overwhelmed with sadness inside. After the assembly was over, I rushed to the first class I was assigned to. The boy with the sweet smile quickly followed behind me but only entered from the back door and left afterwards. I assumed this cheeky little boy is playing games with me because I was the new teacher in the block. “Kids will be kids”, I thought. Without realising, it was 12.50 p.m. when the school bell rang, indicating the end of my first day. Students were running towards the school gate. At the same bench outside the office, I saw the cheeky little boy. We exchanged smiles as a sign that the seat next to him was vacant. So I sat there while waiting for my father to pick me up. At this moment, I learned his name - Ayden. I also learned that he was a chatterbox. “I’m glad that you came by. Please come back again tomorrow,” he pleaded. By the time my ride arrived, we were practically the best of friends. I decided to take a picture as one of the good memories for my SBE. We bid farewell and waved goodbye to each other. “You could still take selfies even after I arrived, seems like you had fun.”, asked father. “Of course! Especially Ayden, the kid I talked to just now”, I replied excitingly. Suddenly, there was a moment of silence. Father stared at me and explained that I was laughing and talking to myself on the bench. I faced my head towards the bench, Ayden was gone. Goosebumps gushed through my veins. Ayden was the boy from the accident. Ayden thought I was his mother. -THE END- _(P.S. - This story is fictional. No child was harmed in the making of this story. This story was inspired by the haunted surrounding of the school. I was told by almost everyone that the school grounds were haunted as it was surrounded by abandoned forests. It was one of the rural schools in the district. Enjoy! :D)_ |

His smile reassured me that I will be a great teacher for the week.\n\nKnock, knock. Being creeped out, I was also overwhelmed with sadness inside.\n\nAfter the assembly was over, I rushed to the first class I was assigned to. The boy with the sweet smile quickly followed behind me but only entered from the back door and left afterwards. I assumed this cheeky little boy is playing games with me because I was the new teacher in the block. “Kids will be kids”, I thought.\n\nWithout realising, it was 12.50 p.m. when the school bell rang, indicating the end of my first day. We bid farewell and waved goodbye to each other.\n\n“You could still take selfies even after I arrived, seems like you had fun.”, asked father. “Of course! Especially Ayden, the kid I talked to just now”, I replied excitingly. Suddenly, there was a moment of silence. Father stared at me and explained that I was laughing and talking to myself on the bench. I faced my head towards the bench, Ayden was gone. Goosebumps gushed through my veins.\n\nAyden was the boy from the accident.\nAyden thought I was his mother.\n\n-THE END-\n\n_(P.S. - This story is fictional. No child was harmed in the making of this story. This story was inspired by the haunted surrounding of the school. I was told by almost everyone that the school grounds were haunted as it was surrounded by abandoned forests. It was one of the rural schools in the district. Enjoy! :D)_",

| title | What Becoming A Teacher Has Taught Me (A Non-Fiction Essay) |
| body | For the past three semesters, I have gone through the three phases of School Based Experience (SBE) programme. This programme is essential for teacher trainees like us to get an early experience before becoming a real teacher. Based on all three experiences, I learned a lot both in teaching as well as becoming a teacher someday. Here are some of the things on what becoming a teacher has taught me. First and foremost, I learned that every student is unique and special in their own way. Although I may have learned this theoretically during lectures, SBE has really given me real insight on that. Their uniqueness differs from ability to personality. For example, I had the opportunity to face problematic students, students with traumatic issues and a few special needs students. When approached in the right way, teachers can open up millions of chambers in their hearts. Thus, I learned that teachers should never judge students too soon and should always give them a chance in learning. Furthermore, becoming a teacher has also taught me to become a better person. An ideal teacher in the students and parents’ minds would be a teacher with a kind heart, full of patience and always lovable to students. From one phase to another, I could see that I became better in terms of having patience in handling students, including the mischievous ones. Becoming a teacher, we must always be kind to our students. Strictness is acceptable, but violence is never the key to help them succeed. Hence, I learned to become a better individual inside and out as a teacher. Last but not least, I learned that being a teacher is an interesting and wonderful job. With reference to the Malay proverb; students are like white cloths, innocent and vulnerable. Teachers are in charge of creating a beautiful art, by painting students with skills and knowledge which they will use and apply it until they grow old. Based on my SBE experiences, my heart flutters with happiness when the students understood the topics I was teaching. Knowing that these students may become successful people in the future because they learned English is just as wonderful as being a teacher. To conclude, teachers are highly important people that should be appreciated worldwide. Being a teacher may not be the easiest job in the world, nor is it exciting. Just like any other occupation, a teacher’s duty is special cannot be compared to anything else. |

| body | _(Picture source: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/176484879126524071/)_ A little girl with big dreams, crushed into millions of pieces. Decisions were made for her, None left for her to choose. Involuntary, she went With an empty heart, With a forced smile, With her passion faked. A class full of fools, She thought. Oh, so cold was the witch’s heart On her very first day. Slowly the emptiness inside fades, The fire inside her sparks and rekindles. When they nod and understood what she said; Surprised! She let out a little giggle. She now learns beauty of how capable, the heart changes. From cruelty to kindness; From fools to flowers. The witch became a gardener; A gardener of those little flowers. Fearing of watching them wither; Each one of them, she waters. By the time it was over, She received letters and notes Of love from the fools That she once declared. With the words, “don’t go”, Pleading while crystalized liquids Ran down their cheeks, And soon on hers as well. What she once knew To be fake, Was now, Known to be real. Truly, that was The end of forcing And the start of accepting. _(P.S. To my readers - I’ve always dreamed of becoming a lawyer. However, God has other plans for me. As they say, “every cloud has a silver lining”. I have found that silver lining during my school based experience.)_ |

| title | The Witch's Garden |
| body | _(Picture source: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/176484879126524071/)_ A little girl with big dreams, crushed into millions of pieces. I have found that silver lining during my school based experience.)_ |

| title | What Becoming A Teacher Has Taught Me (A Non-Fiction Essay) |
| body | For the past three semesters, I have gone through the three phases of School Based Experience (SBE) programme. Being a teacher may not be the easiest job in the world, nor is it the most exciting. Just like any other occupation, a teacher’s duty is special cannot be compared to anything else. |

Being a teacher may not be the easiest job in the world, nor is it exciting. Just like any other occupation, a teacher’s duty is special cannot be compared to anything else.",

| title | Ayden (A Short Story) |
| body | (Picture Source: https://www.wallpaperup.com/14112/Landscapes_nature_trees_bench.html) It was my third and last phase for my School Based Experience (SBE). Enjoy! :D)_ |
