I'm so fucking addicted to it...it's like 60% history, and 40% word etymologies.  But it's wild how much language does change over the years, and also how some parts seem to stay the same for so long.  \n\nFor instance, now I look up etymologies(word histories) all the time...I looked up 'Freedom' the other day after seeing someone up here in Montana with a \"Freedom isn't Free\" bumper sticker.\n\nTurns out that Freedom probably descended ultimately from proto-indo-european's Pri-ya meaning \"dear, or beloved\". And that later on in early Germanic groups it began to be used in contrast to someone who was captured against their will, or who was displaced into a community where nobody 'loved' them.\n\nAnd eventually took on the meaning we tend to ascribe to it today, as being 'free'.  \n\nAnyhow...I hope you're enjoying yourself here...I loved reading your intro.       "body": "Great question, sorry I didn't see it sooner. In this particular position, yes, I was feeling pushback, more from a state of frustration than defensiveness, though. I didn't go into the full play-by-play of how it all went down, but the first step was really me just letting him throw his tantrum and ignoring his behavior of trying to get attention until he calmed down. No conversation was possible until I stepped away and let his nerves cool, as I wasn't about to \"reward\" this crying wolf kind of behavior. \n\nAs for my triggers around his behaviors that I was interpreting as avoidance strategies, any pressures I felt were a result of the way my working relationship was structured with his parents, and my projections of their expectations. That shifted over time, too, and talking with them about situations like this helped me understand that they weren't necessarily holding me to the very high bar I was setting for myself in terms of my goals for my time with Allen.",

      "body": "It does seem that you have a strong very committed mechanism of support from your husband, your kids, your doggy, probably your friends and probably many strangers out there you don’t know. People who love and care for you, wanting the best for you.\n\nI do personally understand the challenge and internal war for days or weeks before confronting someone or something. Not wanting too because you care, you understand how asking them to honor their commitments could impact them. So it’s a struggle, BUT, actually it does nothing for either party... and in fact kind of harms both parties to avoid facing the situation.\nI am there myself, not fully honoring one of my commitments I made with friend and it’s really eating at me. And her not calling me out I’m sure is probably eating at her. In return it adds dirt to the strength of our friendship. It’s a lot of stress I feel day-by-day and when I test how I’d feel if I no longer had this situation on my back, instantly I feel a lot of relief. Even just imagining that I had faced the situation gives so much relief.\nRight now I’m closing off new commitments and situations that I got myself into which seemed more exciting and appealing to me in the moments I made them so that I can face and honor this commitment that’s been on my back for a year. It’s challenging not to be avoidant, but the part that’s eating at me for being avoidant continues to get stronger than the avoidance. It must be faced! And I must do what’s necessary to do what I need to do to make it go away.\n\nSo, now before you question if this random stranger is narcissistically using your story to tell theirs, I will tell you why I’m writing and why I added a hint of personalized justification to my words.\nYou have power!\nYou have so much power, and strength as you have chosen to openly hint at your rape. \nWhen you’re ready, and it does seem that time is coming so soon, you have the power to transform that situation into a “gift”. \nThat statement I just made probably angered you.\nYou were violate without consent, against your choice. BUT, what you do with the situation afterwards is your Choice. \nAnd you can continue to avoid it and let it dominate your actions, your views, your life. On the other hand your loving support mechanism that comes to you and helps you in your sleep can be by your side while you admit things while awake. \nSpeaking it out without avoidance frees you from all you do interpersonally to hide it. And as you state it and admit it you become stronger. And as you Share it you help others. He ordered some people to pimpify me unknowing to me.\nI just remembered that [<i>lady 1</i>] was there, and she was hiding from me because of how I verbally attacked her. \nThen the guys began to change what I was wearing and they wanted to work on my hair. I totally beat my dad down making sure to get him in the nuts a couple times, and then I got up and started walking away leaving through the front door of the house.\nThis ass beating wasn’t good for his boss man rep so he got back up and I could hear him talking with the crew that he was gonna have to show me what happens to people who disobey. As I knew he was coming after me again I picked up a heavy glass jug aiming it at the door to hit him with it. He opened the door and I tossed the jug hoping to hit him in the head to knock him out or better yet just kill him. \nI missed, and stood there a second upset with myself for my poor sense of aim. \nThis was time he needed that he started coming after me from the porch to the lawn brandishing a whip, a belt or something. But somehow I got right past his attempts at me and started pounding him again. This time though I was on a mad rampage of trying to destroy his nuts and make him sorry for having them. There happened to be some scissors on the lawn, I think the same ones that chopped my hair, and I picked them up to chop off his testicles.\n\nThis was the point I could no longer stand watching and I woke up. I am still here feeling such pain and resentment, and I know these thoughts and feelings are coming up because I feel I am not worthy and dangerous as I prepare to let any person in. I think about running away a lot before I can be rejected or before I could hurt or just be a boring useless experience for whomever that person(s) is.",

      "body": "Alien Visitation Dream\n\nHad a dream I was with the family and I think it was back at the Fresno home. \nThere was a mom or sibling, my two younger sisters and one other sibling. We were in the house when we knew the aliens were coming. We were trying to close up the place but my two sisters ran outside the house or something to leave. I tried to get them to come back in and only the older of the two came back; the youngest had disappeared. \nIt turns out the older wasn’t actually my biological sister but someone we had adopted a long time ago. It was really scary and becoming more so, and my mom and sister were out of their mind in not knowing what to do. My sister wanted to leave the house again and run away and I retorted for her not to and to stay with us. \nI told them to feel my heart how scared I was, I wanted them to know what I was feeling. \nThey had to know so that they’d know that even though I was in active hunker down and prepare mode that I was still just as scared as they. I remember <b>thinking</b> to them that this wasn’t the first for me. I’d been through this before and it had been a while but I stated \"<i>they’re coming back</i>\" (<i>the aliens</i>). \nI was fighting with my family members about how it important it was we stay together in the house and not run away like my sister wanted. I was saying all this in conjunction with alluding that we were gonna have to go locate the youngest sister. \nThe me watching the dream knew she wasn’t totally far (<i>even though I didn’t know where she was</I>) and this knowledge was how the me in the dream was remaining grounded in staying together and getting youngest sister. At the same time though because I pulled (<i>strength</i>) from the me watching the dream I realized I was in a dream. And the me watching the dream was like “<i>holy shit, this is way too scary, why am i watching it</i>”. \nThat was when I left by waking and instantly I was mad because after all that I said to my sister about staying together I still left them. I was also really disappointed because instead of dealing with the situation I ran from it by waking.\n\nAs I reflected I was feeling really lonely, different and isolated by comparing my inexperienced life to all those folks at the bbq. They interact with each other much and I stay distant so I question myself and my worthiness. They talk freely and I remain fairly silent. I just don’t know what to do. Why have I always been distant and unable to do stuff when they, and all the other people around me clearly are doing stuff together.\nBut then I realized something; if they are truly at peace and connective how come their communities are so insular and why do they only becoming so sharing within that community. How come each one sets up various levels of connection and openness even between the various folks in that community. Like [<i>guy 1</i>] does more with his current primary partner than than what he does with [<i>lady 1</i>] or [<i>guy 2</i>] (<i>perhaps</i>) who were sitting with us at the bbq.\nThis made me compare [<i>guy 1’s</i>] painful background from mine, which got me again on the question of suicide and why they respond the way they do to people talking about it. So if they're building insular communities they're actually still hiding. And if they’re hiding maybe there’s something about the grander human community they’re struggling with. That struggle is probably where the suicidal repression lies, because then unlike me theirs (<i>suicidal ideation</i>) is much more real and closer to the skirt, which is why they get angry.\n\nFrom this I vocalized -\n\nI just want to write about the experience sooo detailed and truthfully that the humanity of it can be seen and accepted by ANYONE who reads it. So open and raw that even the hardest core klansman would listen in acknowledgement of similarity, understanding & acceptance.",
