| title | The Rise of Quantum Computing |
| body | # Quantum computers are no longer an idea of science fiction, they are very real and could have huge implications on our future. A quantum computer is unlike a traditional silicon based computer in that it uses a completely different method to carry out calculations – one that utilizes quantum mechanics to function. Quantum computers are significantly faster than their conventional counterparts, and they are able to help tackle complex problems that would otherwise be impossible to solve. The world’s first digital computer was completed in 1946 and it opened up insane new worlds of possibility. Still, early computers were only used for limited applications because they could only be programmed in machine code. That all changed when John Backus created the first programming language, FORTRAN, at IBM in 1957. For the first time, real world problems could be quickly and efficiently transformed into machine language, which made them far more practical and useful. In the 1960’s, the market for computers soared. Like the first digital computers, quantum computing offers the possibility of technology millions of times more powerful than current systems, but the key to success will be translating real world problems into quantum language. At D-Wave, the first company to offer the technology for commercial use, that process is already underway and it is revealing massive potential. # Complexity Because of the MASSIVE computing power of a quantum computer, extremely complex computational problems will be solved with ease. One of the toughest problems in mathematics is known as the traveling salesperson problem, which asks to find the shortest route between a list of cities. It a fairly simple problem, but in terms of computation it is enormous. Traditionally, engineers have used shortcuts, such as the Monte Carlo method or genetic algorithms to solve it. The traveling salesperson problem is also pervasive. Practically anytime you want to make a complex process more efficient, you need to do this kind of combinatoric optimization. Logistics businesses need to solve a version of it every time they plan a route. Semiconductor manufacturers encounter similar issues when they design and manufacture chips. All these processes that require monstrous computation could be performed with ease and make the world run a lot more smoothly. # Medical Science When the Human Genome Project was completed in 2003, it ushered in a new era of medicine. Rather than treat every patient the same way, it showed that we could design treatments to suit a particular genetic makeup. While these are major advances, our newfound knowledge has also revealed our limitations. Unlocking the secrets of DNA exposed how little we know about the proteins it codes for, just as early successes with targeted therapies have shown us how much more we can achieve by working with complete genomes rather than just isolated markers in our chromosomes. Quantum computers will allow us to analyze human DNA on a massive scale. This process would dramatically change the way we look at medicine and even human psychology. We could better understand our DNA which would allow us to alter and edit our genes, to live 1000 years, to never get sick, to combine out physiology with bio mechanics, which will change the world. # Artificial Intuition Take a look on the Internet and you can find examples of auto correct mangling phrases, like changing “I don’t” to “idiot” in a text to your mom. These are embarrassing mistakes, but they usually don’t cause too much trouble. However, in other applications, like picking a terrorist out of a crowd through facial recognition, the stakes are far higher. Like our brains, computers process different aspects of an experience, such as colors and shapes and integrate them into larger concepts, such as a human face, a type of hairstyle or the signature style of a popular designer. However, in order for this process to work well, the more elemental aspects need to be correctly identified or they will pass on bad information to the higher levels of the system. Because of the limited capacity of conventional computers, data is lost in the training process and things are not recognized correctly, resulting in insults to your mom and terrorists misidentified. Here again, quantum computing can help close the gap. D-Wave is working with a number of partners, such as NASA, to help train artificial intelligence systems to reflect human thought processes far more completely than is possible with conventional computers, which will help to minimize mistakes. Quantum computers will make it possible for our technology to develop something akin to intuition, allowing them to know that something is wrong even if they can’t point to exactly why. # Augmenting Human Intelligence The Quantum Computing revolution may be even more profound than the digital computing revolution a half century ago and it will happen much faster. A few things that we would see happen, 1. Safer airplanes—Lockheed Martin plans to use its D-Wave to test jet software that is currently too complex for classical computers. 2. Discover distant planets—Quantum computers will be able to analyze the vast amount of data collected by telescopes and seek out Earth-like planets. 3. Win elections—Campaigners will comb through reams of marketing information to best exploit individual voter preferences. 4. Boost GDP—Hyper-personalized advertising, based on quantum computation, will stimulate consumer spending. 5. Detect cancer earlier—Computational models will help determine how diseases develop. 6. Help automobiles drive themselves- Self driving cars such as Tesla will be better performers and safer thanks to the complex computing power provided by quantum computers 7. Reduce weather-related deaths—Precision forecasting will give people more time to take cover. 8. Cut back on travel time—Sophisticated analysis of traffic patterns in the air and on the ground will forestall bottlenecks and snarls. 9. Develop more effective drugs—By mapping amino acids, for example, or analyzing DNA-sequencing data, doctors will discover and design superior drug-based treatments. Anything we do that requires a calculation would all be optimized with a quantum computer. "title": "The Rise of Quantum Computing",
"body": "\n# Quantum computers are no longer an idea of science fiction, they are very real and could have huge implications on our future. \nA quantum computer is unlike a traditional silicon based computer in that it uses a completely different method to carry out calculations – one that utilizes quantum mechanics to function. Quantum computers are significantly faster than their conventional counterparts, and they are able to help tackle complex problems that would otherwise be impossible to solve. \nThe world’s first digital computer was completed in 1946 and it opened up insane new worlds of possibility. \nLike the first digital computers, quantum computing offers the possibility of technology millions of times more powerful than current systems, but the key to success will be translating real world problems into quantum language. At D-Wave, the first company to offer the technology for commercial use, that process is already underway and it is revealing massive potential. \n\n\n # Complexity \nBecause of the MASSIVE computing power of a quantum computer, extremely complex computational problems will be solved with ease. \nThe traveling salesperson problem is also pervasive. \n\n \n # Medical Science \nWhen the Human Genome Project was completed in 2003, it ushered in a new era of medicine. Rather than treat every patient the same way, it showed that we could design treatments to suit a particular genetic makeup. \nWhile these are major advances, our newfound knowledge has also revealed our limitations. Unlocking the secrets of DNA exposed how little we know about the proteins it codes for, just as early successes with targeted therapies have shown us how much more we can achieve by working with complete genomes rather than just isolated markers in our chromosomes. \nQuantum computers will allow us to analyze human DNA on a massive scale. This process would dramatically change the way we look at medicine and even human psychology. We could better understand our DNA which would allow us to alter and edit our genes, to live 1000 years, to never get sick, to combine out physiology with bio mechanics, which will change the world. \n\n\n# Artificial Intuition \nTake a look on the Internet and you can find examples of auto correct mangling phrases, like changing “I don’t” to “idiot” in a text to your mom. These are embarrassing mistakes, but they usually don’t cause too much trouble. However, in other applications, like picking a terrorist out of a crowd through facial recognition, the stakes are far higher. \n Like our brains, computers process different aspects of an experience, such as colors and shapes and integrate them into larger concepts, such as a human face, a type of hairstyle or the signature style of a popular designer. \nHowever, in order for this process to work well, the more elemental aspects need to be correctly identified or they will pass on bad information to the higher levels of the system. Because of the limited capacity of conventional computers, data is lost in the training process and things are not recognized correctly, resulting in insults to your mom and terrorists misidentified. \nHere again, quantum computing can help close the gap. D-Wave is working with a number of partners, such as NASA, to help train artificial intelligence systems to reflect human thought processes far more completely than is possible with conventional computers, which will help to minimize mistakes. \nQuantum computers will make it possible for our technology to develop something akin to intuition, allowing them to know that something is wrong even if they can’t point to exactly why. \n\n\n# Augmenting Human Intelligence \nThe Quantum Computing revolution may be even more profound than the digital computing revolution a half century ago and it will happen much faster. A few things that we would see happen, \n 1. Safer airplanes—Lockheed Martin plans to use its D-Wave to test jet software that is currently too complex for classical computers. \n2. Discover distant planets—Quantum computers will be able to analyze the vast amount of data collected by telescopes and seek out Earth-like planets. \n3. Win elections—Campaigners will comb through reams of marketing information to best exploit individual voter preferences. \n4. Boost GDP—Hyper-personalized advertising, based on quantum computation, will stimulate consumer spending. \n5. Detect cancer earlier—Computational models will help determine how diseases develop. \n6. Help automobiles drive themselves- Self driving cars such as Tesla will be better performers and safer thanks to the complex computing power provided by quantum computers \n7. Reduce weather-related deaths—Precision forecasting will give people more time to take cover. \n8. Cut back on travel time—Sophisticated analysis of traffic patterns in the air and on the ground will forestall bottlenecks and snarls. \n9. Develop more effective drugs—By mapping amino acids, for example, or analyzing DNA-sequencing data, doctors will discover and design superior drug-based treatments. \n\nAnything we do that requires a calculation would all be optimized with a quantum computer. From travelling to mars, to genetically altering ourselves, to building giant space machines to harness the power of the sun. The technology is still in it's infancy but the ramifications are extraordinary. This technology will change the human race forever in the near future. \n\n",

| title | How high will Steem go? |
| body | As I'm sure you've noticed, Steemit has dramatically increased in popularity over the last year, despite a drop in the value of its currency. However, Steem is seemingly back on the rise and posing new questions. Who is using Steemit? How high will the price go up? Well, it depends on a few multifaceted factors. For starters, YouTube is now heavily censoring their users channels which affects their users ability to monetize their content to the higher end of its potential, with many users reporting making less money because of YouTube censorship, prompting them to look elsewhere to post their content and make money,( what better place to start with than Steemit?). So why does this matter? Well, it means that if Steemit continues to rise in popularity and goes viral as a major social media website with millions of followers like Instagram/Facebook etc, YouTube content creators may continue to be drawn to Steemit to post their content/videos and not have their ability to capitalize hindered, as they would on YouTube. Naturally, the USD price of Steem may rise dramatically as a result of the newfound popularity and popular content creators new to Steemit, which may raise its value significantly. Steem/USD recently just made a comeback from a hard fall last year falling from $4.00 to $0.30, and in the last 2 weeks has rose up again to $1.00 which it hasn't done in a long time. From the looks of the charts and technical analysis performed by myself and others, Steem will be looking to test the 3 dollar mark in the very near future, and possibly FAR past that in the midterm/long term. Were talking about the new Facebook! The new YouTube! So! Why does this matter to you? If the value of Steem continues to rise you as an individual could make huge profits. Invest in the Steem currency and when the value goes up cash out and enjoy. Steem is a very promising cryptocurrency. Some tips/insights -Buy as much Steem as possible( possibly triple your investment in the VERY near future) -Buy enough Steem to exchange some of it to USD when the value goes up(your personal profit), but leave some Steem in your account for a long term investment. Remember, it could reach heights we never would of thought of.( Think $10-$50 long term) -Tell everyone you know about Steemit, the more people joining in, the better. -Create unique content on Steemit. Keep in mind, Steemit is not just a website to make a quick buck, it has more value than that. Its a place to share ideas in a fun social atmosphere, and be rewarded. It pulls creativity out of people because they realize to do well you must be unique and post YOUR own content. Steemit has the possibility of becoming the next big thing, so don't miss out on it. |
