      "body": "Some background context before the story: I was in my first year of college, my family had been evicted for the first time, and I was in a rocky relationship. It was a time of a lot of stress and isolation. \n\nEvery evening, there was a meditation session from 9pm to 10pm at my college. I saw the flyer for the meditation session when I left a business club meeting  and decided to give it a try. I was exhausted, feeling hungry and dragging my feet. I was surprised when I found the room for meditation. \n\nThe corridor looked dark and felt similar to walking into a fortune teller's shop. Past the corridor, there was a sleek floor made out of bamboo, the room was dimly lit by warm light that bounced off of green glass along the wall. There was only four people in this session. Our instructor welcomed us and asked us to each get a mat to start. The instructor explained that we were about to do three Mantras and he took out an instrument to play during the session. \n\nThe first Mantra, was about letting all of our thoughts just flow as if you were standing in the middle of a street and just letting cars pass by. After the first Mantra we were given a white sheet of paper to dump almost every thought we payed attention to. \n\nIn the Second Mantra we focused on all of the thoughts we wrote down. I noticed myself thinking mostly about how \"Successful\" I wanted to be and didn't know the root of that thought at the time. I guess I was young and didn't really know how to reflect about things yet. \n\nLastly, the third Mantra was about what we were grateful for. \n\nAfter the session the instructor looked at me, asked for my name, and then said \"when I snap my fingers I want you to quickly answer me who you are.\" \n*snap*\nI was paralyzed. I didn't know what to say. I felt this deep sense of confusion, emptiness, and sadness. \nThe instructor proceeded and said \"your soul knows exactly who you are. It is our ego that fogs up our soul. The ego is that sheet of white paper. It is how you want to perceive yourself and how you want others to perceive you.\" \n\nThe instructor was right, I did know myself but let myself go for the \"successful Brian\". It was strange letting go of all my accomplishments to follow my path of film and to live a life I am proud of. Always try to kill the ego and give yourself time to learn more about yourself.       "body": "The library in my hometown of East Boston is a historical landmark. It was one of the first libraries to open it's doors to the public in the United States. When the Kennedy's lived in East Boston they lived right next to this library on Meridian St. It is currently vacant and defunct since a new one was been built. \n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/2VEtq-9jmKE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\nI submitted this video as a proposal into a pilot program being launched in Boston, MA. The pilot program allocated 1 MILLION dollars to funding several youth lead proposals to improve their communities. \n\nAfter submitting this proposal and getting lots of traction from community members and government officials, I was allowed a meeting with the people in charge of the arts in Boston. During the meeting we talked about renovations that had to be done to the building, budgets, funding, and everything else to make this proposal a reality. In the end, the calculations amounted to more than a million dollars so the proposal could not be made possible.  \n\nIn the future, I still want to make this idea a reality when I am more prepared and established. Overall, it was a great experience that taught me about how to assess an idea. I am still learning how to make and idea happen even if it is assessed as not feasible.  \n\nPS: I am grateful my friends helped me make this video/proposal possible",

      "body": "In my Introductory post I wrote about this video and I would like to share it now in it's own post. \n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/WSLbi5KYMOY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\nDuring the Intro to Filmmaking Class at The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), A group of five students and I were put into a team to produce a short film inspired by William Kentridge's artwork. Kentridge is a South African artist who is known for his prints, drawings, and animated films. \n\nWe had one week to ideate, produce, and edit the video. After watching Kentridge's artwork several times, I saw that it revolved around the aparthied and he used many shadow figures to portray his messages. I quickly gathered newspapers and started creating a screen with the material.       "body": "In my Introductory post I wrote about this video and I would like to share it now in it's own post. \n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/WSLbi5KYMOY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen></iframe>\n\nDuring the Intro to Filmmaking Class at The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), A group of five students and I were put into a team to produce a short film inspired by William Kentridge's artwork. Kentridge is a South African artist who is known for his prints, drawings, and animated films. \n\nWe had one week to ideate, produce, and edit the video. After watching Kentridge's artwork several times, I saw that it revolved around the aparthied and he used many shadow figures to portray his messages. I quickly gathered newspapers and started creating a screen with the material.
